("Yours?" Jack exclaimed, as the Soviet anthem began playing in the far distance. "You do realise I wear red for a reason, right?")

"I see." Jack nodded. "Your Forerunners, huh? Go figure. And you want to be killing each other... why, exactly? Can't we all just be friends?" He spread his hands reasonably.

"It's either kill each other or go to Voidilioth, and you saw what that did to Draugnur. And this is after a while cycle of therapy."

"To be fair, the previous cycle lasted only several thousand years with sentient life." Copper added, "So it is not the most accurate measurement."

Sliuril gave Jack a grin. "Don't worry, I won't drag you into that fight if it comes to it, since Cooper's obviously herself."

"We could also Co-Op agaisnt Draugnur."

"Seconded." Faith grunted.b

"Yes, I think I'll stay out of that fight." Jack said. "You two can find ways to destroy each other in your own time." He paused for a moment. "Though, and I hate to admit it, I'm quite curious as to who would win."

"Sliuril." Copper shrugged. "She has more raw power, a more powerful Guardian, and a more diverse skillset. I only won by the skin of my teeth in our last one on one fight, and only because she wasn't concentrating, although I used all the tricks I had up my sleeve short of calling in my army."

"You overestimate me." Sliuril replied. "It's a toss-up."

"Ah, look at you two. So humble." Jack shrugged.

Didact leaned over the desk, looking at the charts and readings displayed on the walls. They had to be wrong. Over the last few days, the energy readings in the human city in the middle of the desert had been fluctuating like crazy. If they were right, he had to know what it was. He certainly didn't want to fight anything as powerful as that. However, as a precaution, he kept the Cryptum's weapons hot as it approached its destination.

"...and, from one catastrophe to the next." Naomi summed up, looking up at the ship descending over Aurora. Elijah and the Pirestess were with her, Kat in particular looking not too thrilled about the new development. "I would like to preemptively reassure everyone that this is not a UNSC takeover." She added.

"Nor one of our crafts." Evan grunted, several of his men coming to the square to gawk.

"Oh, that's mine." Copper tossed.

"I don't recall you having that. I would know, since I destroyed most of your stuff."

"No, I don't mean directly. But it is one of my designs."

Didact wondered at how to proceed in a non-hostile manner. He turned on the ships external speakers. "Does everyone here speak Common?" He suggested.

Jack glanced at Copper. "And let's say I wanted to destroy it. How difficult would that be?" He asked.

Copper placed a hand on her chin. "Whoever made this seems to have compromised quite a bit on the hull integrity by using non-mithril material, judging from the way the light reflects off of the ship. I would say this ship would be easily taken down by a miniature nuclear charge. What do you think, sister?"

"Copper, I have no idea what that thing is made from. Can we blow it up or not?"

"Sure, just use what you have powering that soldier's armor." Copper answered, pointing to Naomi. "Nice find, by the way. Is she your paramour?"

"I would not recommend trying any of that." Didact growled, the conversation relayed to him through hyper-sensitive microphones. "I am going to land. I am going to come out. And I am going to have a civil conversation. Is that understood?" The Cryptum suddenly bristled with weapons, to reinforce his point.

Jack tilted his head. "Could we say no?" He asked Sliuril and Copper quietly.

Sliuril shrugged. "Sure. But the city would get destroyed if I fired at this thing and Copper isn't exactly capable of doing much right now."

"Truly sister, that hurts."

"Please shut up. And let's have a civil conversation." Naomi muttered.

The Cryptum touched down with barely a sound. An opening formed in the spherical ship and a large ramp extended down to the ground. Jack watched as a pair of heavy boots, with orange lines running through them, came in to view. The figure began walking down the ramp, each step accompanied by a clink. As more of the figure came into view, Jack realised just how tall the Forerunner was. Taller than him... taller than the King... a lot taller than the King. Finally, the alien was in full view. Armour covered every inch of its body and is carried a gun, but made no attempt to point it at any of them.

"Right," the Didact said, "which one of you is in charge?"

"See that's a very good question. I would say nobody, but I'm new." Copper answered. "I don't suppose you're one of my prototypes-"

Sliuril muffled Copper with a quick spell, not entirely sure how well it would go over if Copper just claimed a race that had been independent for several millennium.

"In charge of the city would be the Priestess." Sliuril said, gesturing to Kat. "In charge of the army, me and the dragon. In charge of the dragon, the SPARTAN and most of the Immortals here, me again. In charge of Jack of Blades, jack himself."

The Didact took a deep sigh, closed his eyes and held the bridge of his nose. "So you're... all in charge. Got it." He looked from one to the other. "Okay. I'm here about energy spikes in the area. Big ones. The type that could prove to be very dangerous for this entire planet. Could any of you tell me what could have caused those?" He asked, keeping his tone civil.

Beneath the Mask, Jack was grinning. He leaned towards the others. "Who's telling him?"

"That would be based on the wishes of the Two. If you have a problem with it, you would have to take it up to them directly." Sliuril answered. "We're just the cleanup crew, because the fight destroyed a good part of the city. The Crawler was the other participant."

"Hey! Don't muzzle me like that!" Copper argued.

Didact decided that he was talking to Sliuril. "Okay. How would one take it up directly with these Two?" He asked. "And I haven't really been keeping up with current affairs, what's the Crawler?" The Forerunner asked, maintaing a level tone.

"Look, if we told you it was dealt with, would you leave?" Jack asked.

"No." The Didact replied plainly.

Sliuril shrugged. "Get an Immortal to take you to the Godsphere, I suppose, then get an audience with the Two. It might take several months - they are quite busy, last I heard."

"How old are you?" Copper asked, cutting in. "Because I don't remember you and obviously my dear sister hasn't slaughtered you from our last war."

That caught the Didact's attention. "Older than most Forerunners." He said. "And why would you have any reason to remember me? I don't think we've met."

Even as he spoke, he thought about what Sliuril had said. Several months- that wasn't acceptable. He'd have to find some way to figur it out here.

Jack elected to remain silent.

"She used to have ties with your race." Sliuril answered. "They were severed after what I believe you call the Sundering War." Admittedly she wasn't entirely sure that was what they called it - Forerunner didn't always have neat, clear translations into.Common and vice versa.

"Sliuril, how dare you! How many of them-"

Sliuril sighed. "It was war, Copper, and you pitted them against me. It's as if you weren't aware of my destructive potential."

"The Sundering War? No, that can't be right. That battle is an old legend, w-warriors are given honorific titles based on the supposed Forerunner combatants. For instance, I'm Ur-Didact, Shadow of Sundered Star. It was against... gods, essentially." The Forerunner said.

"My, isn't he a sharp one?" Jack commented dryly.

"Actually, only four of us participated agaisnt you. I have no idea why you called it a war." Sliuril retorted.

"You didn't seriously kill them all, did you?" Copper asked, slightly worried.

"It wasn't genocide. I spared whoever didn't try to kill me." Sliuril argued.
