Faith gave a roar as she saw Dark Elves approach from the shadows, melting off of the darkness. They all were at least nine feet tall, and were garbed in black armor with golden edges. Fatih growled as one approached her. Her eyes began to glow ever so faintly less bright. The Elf swiped at her, as she deflected it with her wing. The sword was knocked back from his grip, as the Elf cast a hasty ice spell. Faith easily countered it with her own fire breath, as she knocked the Elf senseless. But he was still alive. She remembered the promise she made, a long time ago. She wasn't breaking it now.

Locke readied his Grenade Launcher. "Dutch, switch to armor piercing rounds. Take the velocity up and put the shredder rounds on standby." Locke said. Dutch obeyed and started firing at the Dark Elves. Locke fully loaded his Grenade Launcher and started firing as well.

Faith engaged with another Dark Elf, this time she didn't kill him either. She roared as she sensed where they were coming from. She knew where the base was. She turned to look at Locke and Dutch. Both were going to be in trouble if she left them. She sighed. She opened her maw and sent waves of fire at the Chaos minions trying to cut them off from retreat. She didn't know how much she had killed, as her eyes began to flicker with red. She stopped breathing fire, and they returned to normal. She was very near to breaking.

"What's up with the dragon?" asked Dutch. "I dunno." said Locke. "Lay down some cover for her." he said. Locke kept firing. Dutch started approaching the fight slowly, still firing his sniper at intervals. Locke ducked behind a rock and started firing at any remaining enemies. "Frag out!" he shouted, throwing a grenade. It exploded in the center on a group of enemies.

Faith roared once more, a deadly and gruttal roar even she had not produced when dealing against Locke and Dutch. Many of the Chaos minions dropped their weapons, in fear or awe it did not matter. Faith spread her wings and flapped them, becoming airborne in a few seconds. She flew up to the clouds. She tucked her wings in once again. Her eyes began to glow, becoming two suns in a sea of darkness. Just as she was about to hit the ground, she went into it. Many of the shadows strangled their own masters, leaving none behind.

"The hell?" asked Dutch. He stopped firing, seeing that there were no enemies left. "How...?" he asked. "I don't know, soldier. Just be thankful." Locke said. He swept the area one last time with his rifle to make sure there were no more enemies, hidden. There weren't, so he stashed the rifle.

Faith resurfaced again from the ground, as her body solidified from the shadows. She was panting after the exertion of her most powerful spell. "Our business here is done. There is no more Chaos in here. Let us part ways peacefully, that I shall never again see any of your accursed kind." She said.

Locke nodded and spoke into his radio. "This is Agent Locke, the mission has been completed and... err... the locals... have requested that we avoid these sectors. I strongly suggest we listen. No mission casualties. Locke out." He gestured to Dutch. "Lets get moving, kid."

"Good day and good bye. I hope we never meet again." Faith lightly said as she spread her wings, before flying to the large tree. It was giving off a warm golden glow, and as the dragon approached it, the boughs seemingly moved to welcome her. She softly purred with pleasure, and for a while it seemed that her scales were becoming whiter. But then the moment passed, as Faith disappeared.

That was approximately ten years ago, before the War was in full. Now though, Locke and Dtuch were once again sent to the region, this time to request aid, so that they may have Faith;s power against the Chaos minion.

Dutch found himself looking at a familiar scene. He pictured it. Him pinned under a dragon, nuke in hand. "Hey!" his thoughts were interrupted by Locke. "Hey, kid. Come over here."
"What's up sir?" he asked. "We'll do better if we split up. I'll go to the cave and you go to the tree." Locke said. "I hear you." Dutch said, already moving off towards the tree. Locke started running towards the cave, using a scanner to guide him. Wonder if she'll be pleased to see us? he thought sarcastically.

"Not those two again!" Faith muttered as she moved between the boughs of her beloved tree. She cussed some more, before flying down to meet with the soldier from ten years ago. One perk of immortality? You remember everything from your first breath to the history lessons your teacher gave you, no matter how boring. She thought. She considered pinning the soldier to the ground, but decided against it. There was no use, anyway.

"Alright, why have you idiots come this time?" She asked, as she landed in front of Dutch.

"Found her." Dutch said over Tac-Com. Locke immediately course corrected and started heading towards them. "We've come here to request assistance. Locke has the mission specifics." Dutch said. "I'll be there in a second." Locke informed over Tac-Com.

Faith groaned. She looked behind her, as something seemingly flickered in and out of existence. She looked back again at Dutch. "Tell you what. I owe you one for what you did ten years ago, even if you don't know what you did that actually got me in your debt. So provided that this has nothing to do with harming the tree, and scavenging for some long lost artifact, I'll stick with you until I have paid off both my debts. Or until you die, whichever comes first." She shrugged.

"That's not very comforting." Locke said, walking out of some shrubbery. "Long time, no see. I was actually hoping to keep it that way." he said. "Okay, I'm not gonna beat around the bush. Over the last five months, the Chaos minions have grown stronger. We have lost two of our ten 'super bases' and five of our normal ones. They've come up with new super-soldiers, ORION IIs, but the sheer number of enemies has overwhelmed us. Right now, our front-line base, or Sword Base, is under siege. We need to help then out, recover our bases and end the Chaos threat, once and for all." he said. Dutch nodded to confirm his story.

"That, I can help with." Faith rumbled. "And believe me, I would rather have not met you again... provided though, that our first meeting was rather beneficial; for me at least." She said. She looked once again at the tree, where the flickering ghost of a young woman was standing, patiently waiting for her. She spoke some words, and the young woman became sadder than before she replied in the same language, before both nodded, and she disappeared. Faith looked back towards the two. "Aright, we have half a year before she tears apart the world looking for me." She said.

"I can live with that." Locke said. 'Dutch, radio to Sword Base, tell 'em we're coming." he said. Dutch did so. Dutch played the reply out loud. "When I radioed for assistance, I didn't think they were gonna send ORIONs... or a dragon." the man on the other side said. "Be that as it may, Sergeant, that's what you're getting." Locke said.
"And thank heavens for that."

(Gotta go.)

(Same)

"Well, I'll be following your lead for this journey, I suppose." Faith said, as she stood up.

"Okay. Dutch, scout up ahead. We'll follow on." Locke said. "Sir." Dutch said, running off. Locke took a few minutes to check his equipment. "Okay, lets go." he said, getting up and going in the direction Dutch had gone.

Faith shut her jaws and silently followed Locke, as she kept a constant lookout for the scent of enemies. Her mind drifted once more to happier times, a long time ago when she was living peacefully and happily with her friend. And then, the Order people took her and killed her. Faith had nearly killed every single soldier who were involved, and killed off their family and extended family for good measure.

Locke kept walking. He kept an eye on his radar. His thoughts kept drifting off mission. Suddenly, he was a kid. Everybody was panicking around him. He looked up at the sky. The alien carrier ship cast a shadow over his city. Drop pods rained down from the sky and large aliens emerged from them, shooting and stabbing everyone in sight. Then the soldiers arrived. They fought off the aliens while survivors were whisked onto ships. He had watched as the entire city was glassed. He shook his head and came back to reality. He had subconsciously been walking. Locke looked at his ammo counter. It read full, but his ejected his clip and visually confirmed it before slapping it back in. The simple practice cleared his mind.
