"Does he" Faith pointed to Dutch at this, "still have trouble killing enemies in combat?" She asked. C***, it might be troublesome if he decided to spare an enemy or something...

"He never did. I don't know what came over him that day. he admitted he didn't either. I think maybe it was the EMP I set off. Perhaps it interfered with his ORION augmentations to make him back to what he was before he was an ORION: a kid. But it wore off." Locke said. Dutch came back through the bushes. "Nothing to report." he said. "Good." Locke replied.

"ORION augmentations? EMP? What the **** are you talking about, Locke?" Faith asked, confused about the words.

"ORION project: Super soldier. EMP: Messes with electronics and augmentations. I set it off to disable the nuke, remember?" Locke asked. Dutch seemed mildly interested, but decided not to ask what they were talking about.

"So that's why it didn't explode." Faith mused. She looked at Dutch, as if expecting him to have a comment or something to contribute to the conversation.

"Hey, don't look at me." Dutch said, holding his empty hands up. "I'm just here for the five star accommodations." He cracked a popular joke about how soldiers had to stay in pretty unpleasant conditions. "Yeah, that's the only reason the kid's a foot soldier." Locke laughed.

"I should expect as well, I suppose." Faith sniffed. "So where are we hiding? I hope you plan to put me at the front lines, it'll be the only place I can eat Chaos minions." She said.

"Well, it's a five hour hike from here to Sword Base. Beyond that is Castle Base, Site 2.1, Fort Hope... the lot." Locke said. Dutch nodded. "Let's get moving." he said. "I sure hope they don't start the party without us."

"Five hours? Alright, lets change that." Faith grumbled as she spread her wings. She scooped up both Dutch and Locke in her jaws, making sure that they weren't scratched. She put them on her back. With a few flaps of her wings, they were airborne.

Dutch swore. "Did I just get thrown onto the back of a dragon?" he asked. "Yup." Locke said. "Take in the views, junior. They won't last." Locke looked at Dutch's vital signs on his HUD. His heart-rate was slightly higher than usual and adrenaline levels were increasing. Nothing out of acceptable parameters. Then he checked his own. They were fine. He hesitated and pulled up the roster. All of his ORION brother and sisters, apart from Dutch, were marked MIA. Once the ORION program had gone public, the commanders had wanted to maintain the illusion that ORIONs never died. He looked down the roster. Fred, Linda, Sam, Will and the rest. None would ever be allowed to officially die. He looked at Kelly's name. Ironically, she was the only ORION who was actually Missing In Action.

Faith laughed as she looked at her passengers on the back. Dutch was probably scared out of his wits or something, and Locke was most likely handling it very well, compared to a few other people she did the same thing to. She stopped her ascent before she reached levels where air was scarce (for humans anyway). She flapped her wings and accelerated to where Sword Base was. "So, how many brothers and sisters have you lost, Locke?" Faith asked, briefly wondering why she didn;t just extract the information out of his mind.

Locke thought for a second. "Sixty eight. Me and Dutch are the last remaining ORIONs. It was all going so well. In action for five years and only three fatalities. Then some science types dragged in a dragon. The dragon's friend killed everyone... even the security detail, the ORIONs. Kelly got ejected from the base and we haven't found her yet. The rest?" Locke sighed and shook his head. "The ORIONs had nothing to do with it. They were just in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong equipment."

"Uh... is this dragon's friend a human with pointy ears and golden blonde hair? Wears a white dress overlaid with golden armor and has pale blue eyes? Has a circlet just like the one I'm currently wearing? Speaks in vague riddles and is a telepath, has ripped several people's minds apart?" Faith asked nervously. She clearly remembered being dragged into some base and then her friend came to rescue her.

Locke narrowed his eyes. "Yes. And when I find them, I shall take pleasure in ripping them apart with my bare hands. The ORIONs were my only family after my parent's deaths." he said. "How do you know all this?" he asked. Dutch cocked his head, equally inquisitive.

"The dragon they dragged into the war was me. And my friend was the one who ripped apart your friends mind. It was all self-defense. Do you know what the scientists did to me?" She asked. "They tortured me for information. They planted false memories. They nearly drove me insane. Lala was angry at them... livid, even. She at first wanted to settle this peacefully, but once she saw what they were doing to me, she just snapped."

"Snapped? SNAPPED?" Locke roared. "Look at the bodies of my friends and I'll show you snapped. I know what they did. The ORIONs knew what they did. And we tried to stop them! We went on twenty suicide missions to try and convince that dragons weren't needed! I shot the leading scientist, damn it. And this is what we get in return? Four hundred dead marines, including the ORIONs?" he asked. Dutch drew his weapon. "We can sort this out later." Locke said.

"Tell that to my friend. Maybe she'll agree to unscramble their brains, provided that they're not actually dead." Faith huffed. "And yes, they don't actually die when you rip their brains apart. They just turn into a blubbering wreck on the floor." She added. "Besides, would you have waited around for an explanation if your family was being tortured? Let's face it, you'd probably be killing everyone in your path."

"Yes. I would've. There's no use jeopardizing more lives without reason. They're dead. I checked each and every soldier." Locke sighed. Dutch shook his head and stowed his weapon.

Faith shrugged. "Well if you have a problem with Lala, you'll have to go through me. And for the record, I wasn't using my full strength when we first fought. That was barely a fraction of my strength, not counting magic."

"And we had a tac nuke to keep from falling and blowing us up without any reason. I had awful armor. Dutch was in the effect of an EMP." Locke said. He kept his Assault Rifle ready in case things turned bad. Dutch hefted a Rocket Launcher, obviously thinking the same thing.
