"Huh. My a**! When did I start taking orders from you?" Dutch asked. "Since the time that we figured out she is more or less the only person with the equipment to kill that Demonspawn. We listen to her till the end of this battle. Then, it's back to the regular chain of command." Locke said. Dutch glared at him. "Okay." he finally said.

Sliuril teleported behind the Demonspawn. 'Hello. Good to meet you. Time to die.' She said, before emptying all her bullets at the Demonspawn. They left burning crater-like wounds on his skin, but not much else. 'I should have known you were immune to those...' She muttered. The Demonspwan screeched and tried to claw at her. She nimbly hopped back a few steps. She flicked her hand, and her gun changed into a sword.

Most of everything on the battlefield had stopped to watch Sliuril and the Demonspawn battle. A small group of Order soldiers were taking advantage of this and had started running around and stabbing the Chaos members. Locke kicked a final goblin in the chest and paused to look at what was promising to be an jnteresting fight. It would also give him a chance to assess the Elf's strengths and weaknesses.

Sliuril sidestepped as the Demonspawn lunged at her. It hastily got up again, and screeched angrily. It slashed at the air, and from its claws erupted torrents of compressed air, a blade as good as any. Sliuril tilted her head and again sidestepped, though it managed to scratch her cheek and draw blood. She swung her sword, and the Demonspawn moved to the right. The sword though cut off one of its primaries.

(Note: OK, this demonspawn is basically a humanoid bird-like creature. It controls air. And it has red wings. Instead of hair, it has feathers.)

(Noted.)

Dutch raised an eyebrow. "Who do you think's gonna win?" he asked. "One or the other." Locke shrugged. "If the Elf loses, we just pick up that sword and finish the fight.l

"Ah, but she won't lose." Faith pointed out as she laid down on a bloodied rock. Her tail was curled and she appeared to be sleepy. The Demonspawn screeched as it sent compressed blades of air at Sliuril. She dodged the blades and dissipated one with her sword.

"That's what I'm worried about." Locke muttered. Dutch let out a snort. "One problem at a time, please." he said.

"And what do you want to do to her? She is familiar with your modifications, after all." Faith answered,

"Correction. She's familiar with our modifications from twelve years ago. Do you really think that after the ORION incident they didn't add safeguards? Upgrades? Training? I just hope it doesn't come to the point where I need to use them." Locke said.

Faith gave Locke a lopsided smile. "So you have figured out who she is? Good. But you do not know the extent of her powers. Concord was once her friend. She chopped off his hand, and it has never regrown since. Discord was once her friend. Now the very mention of her name sends shivers down his spines." She answered.

Sliuril and the Demonspawn were in a full-fledged battle, with the avian giving it his all and the Elf toying with the red Demonspawn, merely cutting off its feathers when she could have burned it through.

(Obviously, Sliuril isn't that strong anymore. Coming back from the dead tends to do that to you.)

(Yeah, I can imagine.)

Locke watched the battle for a few minutes. "Why doesn't she finish him off in one go? I've run the assessments. She's had dozens of chances. Why hasn't she ended it yet?" he asked Faith. Dutch kept watching.

"It's like how a cat plays with its prey before killing. Or maybe because she wants Discord to know she's back in the game." Faith shrugged. "Honestly, I don't know. She's a bit moody sometimes, so it might explain it."

"I can relate." Dutch muttered. Locke ignored him. "That's risky. The longer that Demonspawn is alive, the longer it can do damage."

"In case you haven't noticed, most of the damage is either dissipated by Sliuril or destroying the ranks of the Chaos minions." Faith pointed out. Finally, the Demonspawn slipped and Sliuril chopped off its wings. Before it had any time to react, she proceeded to slice off its talons, and than she chopped off it head. With inhuman speed, she minced the remains of the Demonspwan.

"Fair enough." Locke said as a few of the Chaos ranks squealed in alarm as the Demonspawn fell. Some turned tail and ran. Others roared in outrage. Both ORIONs readied their weapons, preparing for the next part of the fight.

Sliuril teleported onto Faith's scaly back, which surprised some of the Order Warriors, but some of the others paid no attention. She grabbed hold of one of the spines jutting off Faith's long neck. Faith opened her wings and flapped them, and she took flight into the sky. Sliuril shot off spells and froze the Chaos Minions. Faith... ate them whole, as was expected.

"I-I-I'm gonna stay outta their way." Dutch said. "Yeah, you should sit this one out with a sniper." Locke said, offering him the weapon before attacking the Chaos ranks.

Eventually, the remaining Chaos troops either fled from the battle, (and the wrath of two certain ORION warriors) or surrendered themselves completely to the whims of their enemies out of desperation to avoid dying at the claws of a particular dragon.

(Damn straight, they did.)

"What a day." Dutch muttered. "And to think, Ma wanted me to be a doctor. Ha!" he laughed. Locke gave a weak smile. "So," an ORION II shouted. "Time to hit the mess hall, huh?"
"Maybe for you soldier, but we need to debreif." Locke said. "What about the prisoners?" the soldier asked. Locke considered. "Keep the weak for interrogation. Kill the rest.l

Faith landed on the ground, and Sliuril easily slid off the dragon's back. Faith hissed and snarled whenever one of the soldiers got too close for comfort, which was to say, quite often. Sliuril made no attempt to correct the soldiers. In goblin society, the information usually rested on the higher ranked goblins, and those are usually the stronger ones.
