I think it would be a nice feature if you get a notification three minutes before an auction on which you are bidding ends.
Sometimes, when you are outbid in an auction, the other person has more money remaining than you have at all. This suggestion would make it so that you can outbid them at the last minute, thereby winning even though it would be literally impossible otherwise. (Because of this, this suggestion should be kept in place if you are outbid.)
I'm not really sure how else to describe it, so sorry if this doesn't make sense. ^^'
What are your thoughts on it?

AutumnStar has explained why this would be a bad idea and I no longer believe that it should be approved. I would like this to be rejected and/or locked if possible. Thank you!

I don't support it. I can understand the need for some to snipe, and I have been sniped on several pokémon auctions and I honestly don't mind. I should've been quicker/more alert, but this would give an unfair advantage to the snipers.

Now it's a waiting game for both. But with this suggestion, you'd give an advantage to those who can't/won't pay much. Instead of both keeping a close eye on it, those that plan to snipe can offer a small amount (maybe not even enough to be top bidder) and than get a notification, so he knows he'd better start preparing to snipe.

The only thing needed for a successful snipe is the patience to wait, and that's exactly what you'd be taking away with this suggestion, because instead of checking periodically for maybe hours on end (what I used to do when I couldn't afford the high auction prices), they'll only need to wait a few minutes.

I hope this makes sense ^^'

(I once read that people who bid within the last 10 seconds are called 'snipers', which is why I've called them that)

No support. Being told that your outbid is more than enough.

Diana, this whole thread is based on the fact that if you are outbid, you may not be able to outbid that offer. The idea is based on the fact that, oftentimes, you will outbid someone, but they will have more money than you, making it possible to outbid you no matter how much you bid.
For example, say I'm bidding on a Star Piece. What if I have 70k PD, but I'm outbid by someone who has one million PD? Outbidding them immediately would just result in us topping each other until I can't bid any more, so being told that I was outbid doesn't help at all.
I'm not quite sure if you understood the suggestion. ^^'

How does that make it so that I didn't understand the suggestion? Whether or not you get a notification that you have 3 mins on the Star Piece auction, you won't be able to outbid it if you don't have more than what was bid on it.

I'm sorry; I didn't do a very good job of explaining it. >.<
I have 70k PD. Someone else has one million PD.
I bid 35k PD. They outbid me slightly.
Outcome A: I outbid them, and they outbid me, and we continue until I am out of money. They outbid me a final time and I cannot outbid them.
Outcome B: I do not outbid them again until before the auction ends. If they are online, it's just a matter of who has the highest bid at the time that the auction ends, which is still better than having literally no chance of winning like in outcome A. If they are offline, and nobody else outbids me, I can actually win the auction.
In the situation when this is useful, you do have more than what was bid on it, but are waiting to bid so that you don't get to the stage where you don't have more than what was bid. Does this make more sense?

the way i see it, if it's really so important to bid on a pokemon (or a pokemon holding something being auctioned), the person wanting to bid on it is going to keep an eye on it anyways without having to be reminded

i set an alarm or make a sticky note to keep track, my extra effort is my advantage and if we wanted everyone to have an equal chance, why not eliminate all the things that take watching something to do? or eliminate the need to outbid with money, or the ability to snipe, etc... if the person worked hard to pay with the crazy amount of money they're outbidding you with, i see no reason to take away their right to do that

(i hope that made sense :p )

basically i agree with everything catlady said too

See, the thing is, the 'rich' person would get a notification, too, so they would know to keep an eye on the auction they're bidding on to make sure they don't get outbid.

Still, it doesn't really matter, as I realize that it would probably be better if this suggestion wasn't implemented. ^^'

no support at all it would affect the point of auctioning then.wgen you bid in some auction, it's your responsibility to be alert till the last point.if you get into something else, means your focus for winning the auction is not there, and besides, it would be randomness. everyone bids at the last 10 seconds, then you don't know whose bid is the highest, and a page ends up coming 'your bid should be higher.....' and when you again bid its too late.

Diana - Basically, you have a chance of winning (they only have three minutes to outbid you, so you basically have a 50/50 chance based on who happens to outbid the other last. Still, it doesn't matter.
Shreyash_Jain - I'm pretty sure people are supposed to read at least the last few posts before posting in a suggestion thread. I already said that I understand why this would be a bad idea and don't really want it to be approved any more. ^^"
