She smiled and said, "Oh good! Because these two need some air and she lives too far to walk there and back in a day. You can ride Midnight."

Midnight turned his big black head to Cassius and sniffed him, looking for food. Leona put her head to Evangelina's hair, sniffing.

"Leona, baby cakes, I don't have any food in my hair," she laughed and stroked Leona's snout.

"Those animals sure really likes you a lot, Lina."

Cassius smiled at her.

Evangelina laughed, stroking Leona's neck. She leaned in and whispered, "Alright, girl, let's show these boys what we girls can do!"

Leona shook her head and took off, running much faster then Midnight and Cassius.

Leona slowed, letting the boys closer. She was still clearly in the lead, but not by much. They rode for an hour or so and then Evangelina slowed Leona, coming to stop near a small cottage.

Midnight stops in the cottage were Evangelina and Leona stops.

Evangelina smiled and pulled out a canteen from the messager bag she wore. "Here, drink some of this. I'll refill it at the well before we leave."

She had dismounted Leona and was wiping at her brow. Then she walked over to the door and knocked.

Rap-tap-tap-Rap-a-tat-tat

A girl opened the door after a moment and hugged Evangelina. "Oh sweetie! I was so worried!"

Cassius drinks the water and hydrates. After that, he holds the water bottle and saw a girl calling Evangelina's name. Cassius comes closer to Evangelina.

"Your mom is in Baton Rouge?" Nikki asked, pale. "I can get it there. But it might take some time. Not many people can get out of there so letters through there are harder to get."
