"Thanks, Lina. You really never ever don't let me down," said
Cassius while hugging her. Then, he releases Evangelina and gets
his backpack. Then, Cassius goes outside the tent, along with
Evangelina.
After that, they went to the area where they meet Gen.
Lovelace.
"Sir, we're ready to leave this city," said Cassius to Gen.
Lovelace, putting his hand over Evangelina's shoulders and carries
his backpack to his back.
Evangelina smiled as her dad helped her up. She hugged him and gave
him a kiss on the cheek. "Be careful, dad. We'll be fine, but I'll
still be worried about you."
"I'll be fine too, Eva," Gen. Lovelace smiled, kissing her
forehead. "Now, I'll see you both later."
Cassius helps Evangelina climb into the carriage. Then, Evangelina
climbs up to the carriage. Cassius stands back to give Evangelina
space to land her on.
"There you go," said Cassius and smiled. Then, Cassius releases her
hand.
"It's should be, Lina. I guess I have to leave my place and start a
new journey in a new place, with you. I wish your mom is not strict
enough to me," said Cassius to Evangelina.
Evangelina laughed, "She is going to love you. And I hope Sera does
too. But she might need some time to get used to you. As for
everyone else, I'm sure you'll fit right in!"
"I think she'll warm up to you. She has a warm heart and is
understanding. But I know there is a chance people won't like you.
I know it will only be a matter of time," Evangelina smiled.
Evangelina nodded. She was keeping an eye out just in case someone
jumped out at them. They might be on their way home, but they were
still in the South. She kept an eye out for any run away slaves
too. If she could, she would help them get to the North.
"Lina, have you seen any intruders here?" said Cassius to
Evangelina. "If you spot one, don't worry, I'll protect you, no
matter what it takes, even it is too risky for me."
Evangelina looked up at him, worried, "Oh! I don't want you to get
hurt. If something happens, we'll take it on together. But I think
we'll be fine."
Evangelina smiled at him then
Few days later, as the carriage left South Carolina, the
carriage headed to Tennessee, still a Confederate state.
"Lina, we're here in Tennessee, but you see, Tennessee is still a
part of a Confederate state, you have to be keen to see the
Confederate Army, I don't want any other people to see us," said
Cassius to Evangelina.
