As you may have noticed, there is something called a private message on here.

Some of the mods have their palpads friends only as well, so I don't see your point. It is their decision as to whether they want to have people inanely palpad them concerns, when they might just want it for chatting with friends.

Mods and MITs are real people as well.

If you can read this, you know how to read.

I am not in favor of this the MIT have right and they may not want people to chat them and it not necessary you can do a pm or this ancient technology called reporting if that is what you really wanted to chat them up for. there are also people who would just annoy mit and I don't feel they should desreve that I know liirah and autumn deal with it but the mits don't need it.

and how many people would you really want to deal with over simple(not trying to say dumb) things 230,50users then at the end of the day how much of those chats were from your friends? it nots about duty it about rights they have the right to have it friends only end of story

Plus, the mods themselves change their palpad to friends only occassionally.

And as a friend to the mods - I worry when they don't respond because maybe users are spamming them with "HI CAN U BAN ECCO SINCE NOT FAIR I WANT 2 B #1"

Instead of screencap -> report
Or instead of mindless "Hi...can I have your *insert rare pokemans here*"

PalPad is a more casual option of conversing, for conversations that will last, which is perfectly suited for friends of the user

PMs are a more professional method, perfect for very short conversations which are what the mods would be used to as users ask them questions about the site and request help.

Spammers and Rude Users are all too common on this site, which is why most users choose to make their PalPad friends only.

No, I wouldn't want that to happen. That is exactly what PMs are for. So people like Mods don't get spammed with random PalPad messages all the time.

I, as a mod, did have my Pal Pad set to friends only for quite a long time and it worked just fine. It's not like users wouldn't be able to contact us anymore just because the Pal Pad isn't an option, eh? :)
Like stated by a few users already, PMs are perfectly fine if you want to talk to a mod.

Maybe you can't imagine what it's like to be a mod/staff member in general. People start Pal Pading staff members just because they're "famous" around the site and they snif their chance to be friends with a staff member. I'm not saying everyone thnks like this - no offense here - but quite a lot do exactly think like that.
Anyways. The point is, while I don't see myself as something better or some superior - in fact, I'm a pretty normal girl, just like everyone else here ;) - it's ever so annoying to get 13165476120 plain "hi"'s each day.

tl;dr - PMs are fine, no need to force MITs/staff members have their Pal Pad open for everyone.
