rumbling alteration
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Rejected → rumbling alterationI think it would make more sense if you discovered more of an area based on how much time was spent in it, rather than the predictable and apparently set amount you can discover based on how much you've already discovered in that level. For example, if a level 1 area takes 30 minutes to clear, if you send your Pokemon in for 30 minutes, it'll come back and the area will be 100% cleared. If it takes 3 hours, and you send it in for 2, it comes back 65% cleared, and so on. As it stands, this isn't how it works at all, which I found confusing and counter-intuitive.
What I've seen so far is that on level 1, you can discover around 25% of an area by going in for five minutes one time. The more times you go in, the greater the curve becomes; you have to send in your pokemon to rumble more separate times, rather than actually spending more time in the area. So you can finish clearing a level 1 area in less than half an hour only IF you chose to send it in for 5 minutes every time. I learned this the hard way when I thought that 2 hours would clear a significant part of an area only to realize it cleared relatively the same amount as 5 minutes would have. The only difference was that my Pokemon found a little bit more pokedollars and berries.
If the intent behind sending your pokemon in for a lengthy period of time isn't to "discover more of the area," but to gather more materials, I feel like this should be made clear somewhere, because it makes no sense at all for a Pokemon to spend 12 hours in an area and only discover 20% of it (something that I actually did!). It can do the same thing in five minutes anyway, so all the other options are essentially a waste of time -- and it also makes rumbling a huge time sink as a part of the game. You're forced to pay attention to where you are in rumbling and enter every 5 minutes so you can advance significantly in an area. The curve I mentioned -- making it harder to complete the level as you progress through it, requiring you to enter the area more times -- is also a waste of time. I feel like this added hurdle is nothing more than a nuisance and is quite frustrating. It serves no purpose beyond slowing the player down.
The rewards for rumbling are practically non-existent, unless someone is striving to collect gems. I would suggest increasing the rewards enough to make it feel like rumbling isn't a complete waste of time. 1-3 pokedollars at level 3 is absolutely abysmal, but I think getting 2 or 3 gems is fine.
So essentially, changing it so that spending time will clear an area, and removing the unnecessary curve, would make it a lot more satisfying and far less tedious in my opinion. And also it makes more sense.
I think it's reasonable that a level 1 area would take, say, two hours to clear. Then every level afterward might take twice as long as the last. In this way, you won't progress too quickly, and there will be a long-term reward for those who play every day and remember to send their pokemon rumbling. People who have obligations like school or work wouldn't be forced to progress at a snail's pace by sending their pokemon in for 5-30 minute stints tens of times a day.
Right now I just kind of want to quit rumbling because it feels like there's no point, and advancing through levels doesn't yield much reward at all.
I think it's a cool concept, but it does need some consideration.
But as I see so far the users, who are quite active and send their Pokémon via 5 minute-runs should get more % cleared than someone who only visit this site for 2 or 6 hours to check the arrivers.
They actually get more money and items for waiting this long time while the one who are more active (and actually run this site because of this) have more cleared areas.
I think this is well organisized this way.

I think you just thought that because you've made it like this:
5 minutes - discovered 25 %
Then you've sent it for 2 hours - discovered 25%
But if you had sent your pokemon again for five minutes, you wouldn't have discovered more than 5% now
This is a very realistic factor in my opinion. Imagine you find a large forest and start exploring it at first, you find so MANY things you've never seen. Then you go home again and start exploring it again the day after - starting from the same point like you did yesterday. Now you need more time to find something very new.
That's how the rumbling system works and I think you just misunderstood it.
By the way: if you already discovered > 95 % on a high area level, then you might not even discover anything new with only 5 minutes of rumbling. Because you just don't have enough time to search that far
And I think you just had no luck with finding money. I found more than 2000 pokedollar at once on area level 1
But this increases with the area level, obviously
