The Pokedex processed the information Atrus had given it, before showing the results of the boy's search on the screen.
Pidgey: Tiny Bird Pokemon
It is docile and prefers to avoid conflict. If disturbed, however, it can ferociously strike back.
Abilities: Keen Eye: Prevents other Pokemon from lowering accuracy.
Tangled Feet: Raises evasion if the Pokemon is confused.
Big Pecks (Hidden Ability): Protects the Pokemon from defense-lowering attacks.
Current Moves: Tackle, Sand Attack. Next move at Level 9.
There was even more information on the Pidgey. The results for Sable was similar.
Shinx: Flash Pokemon
The extension and contraction of its muscles generates electricity. Its fur glows when it’s in trouble.
Abilities: Intimidate: Lowers the opponent's attack stat.
Rivalry: Deals more damage to Pokemon of opposite gender.
Guts (Hidden Ability): Boosts attack if there is a static problem.
Current Moves: Tackle, Leer. Next move at Level 9.

The Pokemon Center looks exactly like the ones from Sinnoh. Not large, but not small either, the building with an orange roof stood tall and proud. Inside, there are creamy, tiled floors with the walls in orange and yellow stripes and shades. Just in front of the red counter is a black rug with a green Pokemon symbol etched on. There is a white, computer-like PC on the far right of the counter. Nurse Joy, a member of one of the biggest families in the world, stood patiently behind the counter, with her healing supplies around her.

Atrus closed the Pokedex once he had gotten a good grasp of the Pokemon he had. Sand Attack would work as a good opening to hamper an opponent's ability to land a hit and make battles somewhat easier. Keen Eye and Big Pecks would keep his bird protected from losing any accuracy or defense. As for Sable, her Intimidate ability would soften the physical attacks of others, and Guts would beef up the electric type under the right conditions. And pitting her against another female would boost her attacking power.

Heading into the Pokemon Center, he walked over to the video phones. His Pokemon were all in top health considering he didn't need to battle them. After dialing the number, he waited for his parents to pick up. As expected, they were frantic and begging him to come home.

"I'm sorry, but I can't do that. Listen, I know how much you worry about me and why, but I can't live my life trapped in one place. It will happen eventually, regardless of where I am. I want to see and experience as much of the world that I can before it happens. Staying home might mean being safe, but it's hardly what anyone can call 'living'." Atrus spoke to his parents. he kept things vague, that way anyone who might overhear the conversation wouldn't know what he was referring to exactly.

"I will contact you when I get to the next town. Please, don't worry about me. I have three Pokemon now, and they're good friends of mine. So it's not like I don't have a means to protect myself. And I took everything I need with me. I'll talk to you later. Goodbye." With that, he hung up the phone.

Atrus then walked out of the Pokemon Center. There was no more need to stay there, especially since it was still early in the morning. Taking out his Pokedex once more, he looked over the map of the region. "Alright, we can head down Route 1 to get to the next town. We'll stop along the way for lunch" he spoke to Freya.

Once Atrus came to the entrance of Route 1, he let Skyla and Sable out of their Pokeballs, so all three Pokemon could share the journey with him without being confined in the balls. "Alright my friends, let's start our journey." he said in a pleasant tone. He had some food supplies on him, and he knew the pathway would most likely have some fruit treed or berry bushes en route that he could gather to make his tin of Pokechow last a bit longer. With entourage in tow, they began to wander down Route 1.

In front of Atrus is a cluster of tall grass, where Pokemon are sure to live. As it was a clear day, more Pokemon would be out, enjoying the sunshine. Atrus's Pokedex beeped. The newly installed app on the device, the PokeRadar, showed what Pokemon are found in the area. The screen of the Pokedex showed the following information:
Rattata (Common)
Sentret (Common)
Wurmple (Common)
Starly (Common)
Shinx (Common)
Pidgey (Common)
Weedle (Common)
Caterpie (Common)
Bidoof (Common)
Patrat (Uncommon)
Pidove (Uncommon)
Plantock (Rare)
Evidently, the Plantock is one of the newest creations on Atlantis. There are three evolutions of this new Pokemon. A little ways in the grass, a Pokeball lays on a patch of greenery. It must have something inside of it. Even further is a young boy, most likely a trainer.

Atrus took a look at his Pokedex, seeing what Pokemon were around. Given what was available, he didn't have a need to gather any more Pokemon for the time being. His Pidgey was more than enough for a flying type, and Shinx gave him a nice coverage, or at least she will once she learns an electric attack. The Plantock was something he had never seen before, but it looked like a flying type, something he already had.

His eye caught sight of the abandoned Pokeball in the greenery patch. Was it empty? Did someone drop it, or worse yet, did someone abandon their Pokemon and leave them trapped inside. He decided to find out. Heading over to the patch of grass, accompanied by his trio of Pokemon companions, he knelt down and picked up the Pokeball. He pressed the button to see if it let out a Pokemon, or if it was empty.

The Pokeball clicked open with ease, and a purple bottle popped out. A Potion that hasn't been used fell onto the grass with a muted thump. Sometimes, just for the sake of it, people randomly dropped Pokeballs with items concealed inside. The Pokeball always broke after being opened, as they're not made for holding objects.

The thump the Potion created when falling on the ground was a soft thump, but a nearby Rattata heard the subtle sound. The Rattata's fur bristled. Humans haven't come this close to where the mouse lives before. The Pokemon scurried through the grass, to inspect the sound further.

A human with three Pokemon. The Shinx and the Pidgey wasn't surprising to see, as they're common in Route One. But the Torchic... Instinctively, the Rattata knew what species this Pokemon, but it knew nothing more about it. Where had this Torchic come from, anyways?

The Rattata's fur flattened as it relaxed. The human didn't seem particularly dangerous. The Pidgey was a bit unnerving, as any Rattata that isn't careful could be snatched up by a Pidgey as a meal. The mouse thought its options through for a moment. The boy hadn't sighted it yet, and the mouse could always run away. The Rattata wasn't keen on joining this human, either. But it was a nice day, after all, and the Rattata did feel quite energized... What better way to spend its energy on a battle?

The Rattata stepped out into the vicinity of Atrus. It wasn't to sure how to spark a battle with a human. The Rattata attempted to catch Atrus's attention by thumping its tail on the floor. Then it pointed to his Pokemon team with one paw, and then he scratched the ground to symbolize a battle. Perhaps the human would interpret this correctly?

Atrus was a bit surprised to see a potion of all things just drop out of a Pokeball. He knew Pokeballs were for catching Pokemon, but putting items in them? Seems like it'd be a waste, when a backpack could hold the same item easier. He put the potion and the Pokeball away in his bag.

As he looked forward, he saw a Ratatta seemingly challenge him, at least that what he interpreted it as. It didn't seem hostile in the sense of hate-driven, but it was looking for a scrap. "I see. You want to battle us? Alright. Now then, which of you three wants fight this Pokemon?" Atrus asked, looking at his Pokemon. Flare jumped off of the boy's shoulder and scratched at the ground, ready to prove herself to her trainer.

"You want to battle it? Alright then, let's start off with Growl!" Atrus called out. Opening her beak, the Torchic let loose a fearsome growl from her beak in order to try and shake up the Ratatta's confidence in its attack power.

The Level Four Rattata was delighted to see the trainer interpret its its sign correctly. The mouse was also relieved to see that the Pidgey didn't volunteer to battle it. However, the Rattata felt a bit nervous with the Torchic. How strong is this foreign character? It didn't look like it could fly, with those small wings.

The mouse flinched at the Growl, which took his offense down a little. The Rattata thought for a quick moment. If the Torchic was going to use growl, the mouse might as well as use a status move. Something to bring down the Torchic just a little bit.

The Rattata charged at the Torchic, then turned around at the last moment and thwacked its tail hard against the Torchic before speeding away, back into its position. The Tail Whip wasn't hard enough to cause damage, but it brought Flare's defense down by one stage.

Atrus smirked as the Ratatta came in close to use tail whip. This was the perfect time to strike, now that the rodent Pokemon was in close range. Striking a chord on his guitar as he began to jam a tune that suited a battle feel, Atrus then gave his command to his Torchic. "Now, rock it with Scratch!" he called out.

Freya, feeling a bit more energized and eager to battle from Atrus' music, spun round as the Tail Whip connected and slashed out with her taloned foot, aiming at the offending Ratatta's side. She wouldn't be able to defend as well as normally, but with the attack drop she caused, it about evened things out, putting the two back on a slightly even playing field.

The mouse was caught off guard with this fast reaction. The Torchic certainly is fast, faster than the Rattata expected. It winced at the well-placed scratch. It didn't hurt, but it did throb slightly. The rodent Pokemon thought for a moment. Yes, the Torchic was fast, but the Rattata could outrun it with a Quick Attack. Most likely, the foreign Pokemon wouldn't be quick enough to strike back. Unless the mouse is underestimating the Pokemon.

The mouse lunged forwards in a faster speed, a blur of purple against the green grass. It tackled the Torchic with a fierce Quick Attack before doubling back to its position quickly. The music energized the Torchic, yes, but it also energized the Rattata. The rodent felt energized, like it could run for miles without stopping.

Diana went outside of the house and took in a waft of fresh air of her new town. Surprisingly, the house wasn't as expensive as she expected it to be. They must've gotten lucky with this buy, or perhaps there was something in this area that made it less pleasant to live in. She wasn't sure, but she loved it here, already.

After her and her family landed from the ship, they decided to start a new life here. Diana decide to continue her Archaeology career. After all, it was part of her job to travel so she knew she wouldn't lose it. Not to mention that the Sinnoh professor, Rowan, gave her a new Pokemon before she traveled off.

She decided she would go explore the wilderness and see if she could discover anything out of the ordinary, maybe some ruins that would depicted what has happened with this island and why it is this way? And she could also train her newly obtained Turtwig. She walked off to route nearby and walked into the wild grasses. While she observed the area, her Turtwig kept a lookout for any wild Pokemon.

Atrus knew they had to press the attack. As soon as Torchic was struck, he gave his next command while playing his guitar. "Chase after it and use scratch once more!" Atrus called out in a energetic tone of voice.

As soon as Flare regained her footing, she ran after the retreating Ratatta in order to keep as little distance between them as possible. She'd then perform a flip kick of sorts in the form of an upward raking Scratch attack at its jaw and head.

Route One is a rather simple road, with only a few twists and turns. Tall grass, obviously with some Pokemon in it, rustled in the slight breeze. Or maybe it rustled because of the Pokemon it contained? The sun's rays gently shone down on the greenery, and a soft wind flowed through the grass. It was a beautiful day outside, and many Pokemon and trainers would be out to enjoy the sunshine.

The Turtwig next to Diana was rather cheery. It was nice and sunny, which was good for grass types, and some music drifted out from a distance... Music? The Turtwig perked up. Of all places, why would music be here? The Turtwig shook its head. Perhaps it was just imagining the music.

A rustle in the grass. Startled, the tortoise turned around to see a Wurmple staring up at the Turtwig in suspicion. The Wurmple's instincts told it that this Pokemon was a Turtwig, but it actually never saw one before. The bug tensed for battle against this foreign Pokemon.

The Rattata that Atrus is battling was caught completely off guard. The rodent never expected for that to happen. It didn't hurt very much, but it felt its health sapping away. The mouse started to panic. This boy, the trainer, is more strategic than it expected. Slightly unnerved now, the Rattata thought.

The mouse didn't have much HP left. A few more well-placed attacks can quickly end the battle. The Rattata decided to go for another Quick Attack. While the Torchic was still in close range, the Rattata doubled behind the bird and struck Flare with another Quick Attack. Perhaps this would catch the Torchic off guard.

Atrus saw Flare get nailed from behind. Two Quick Attacks in a row, he was sure Flare was in some pain from them. However, the battle was taking its toll on the Ratatta as well. He was going to have to bring this fight to a close soon, he might lose this battle.

As Flare landed forward from the attack, Atrus called out his next instructions to Flare. "Jump backwards and strike from behind with Scratch!" The plan was simple enough. Flare pushed up and back, launching herself up and over the Ratatta. Upon landing, the Torchic then jumped forward into a jump kick-like Scratch attack, hoping to catch the Ratatta before it can evade.

Tara mumbled softly, her eyes slowly drifting open. The excited chatter of Vanera Town filled her ears and she blinked. Had she... fallen asleep? Sitting straighter against the tree she'd been leaning against, she tried to recall through the fogginess of her mind.

She and Cody had taken a boat to the region the day before. It had been a long trip, landing what was probably a few hours ago. (She couldn't be bothered with the specifics.) Though she should have gotten some shut-eye during the trip, she had been too excited and anxious to sleep. The prospect of exploring a new land had kicked her brain into hyperdrive and it refused to slow down.

Tara looked up at the people milling about Vanera Town a short distance away. She must have gone off away from the arriving crowd to get a better look at the area and relaxed against a tree or something. Her gaze shifted over to the Oshawott beside her. Cody was standing straight, rigid and attentive as a sentinel. She giggled.

"Is the coast clear, chief?" the girl asked. Cody jumped a bit but relaxed upon recognizing her voice. Regaining his composure, he turned and gave her a nod. She smiled at him. "Thanks for keeping watch. I appreciate it."

Tara stood up and stretched before walking back to the main part of Vanera Town, Cody following in her wake. Still in the state of limbo between sleep and full awareness, she drifted among the people with no real destination in mind. She stopped briefly to examine a building decorated with budding flowers. 'Mulch and More' the sign said.

A flower store, huh? she thought. I'm not too interested in gardening, but I guess a quick look around before I head out wouldn't hurt. Resolved, she opened the door and peeked inside.

Diana heard the music a bit before she noticed the Wurmple. "Huh, what's that-" Before she could continue, she hears a cry: "Wurm!" She commanded her new Pokemon to use Tackle. It ran towards the Wurmple.

Even in a Pokemon battle, Diana couldn't stop thinking about that mysterious music, or whatever it was, that she had heard. It had obviously come from far away. Maybe it was the people and/or Pokemon living in a far away area? She let go of the thought and kept an eye on Turtwig.

Once again, the Rattata was caught off guard. This foreign Torchic is certainly strong. The rodent stumbled a the Scratch reached the mouse's back. The Rattata's health sapped away, until there wasn't any more. The mouse passed out for a quick moment. However, the Rattata opened its eyes again and looked up at the trainer. If Rattatas could smile, this one certainly has.

It was a pretty good battle, even though it was short. Now it was time for the Rattata to rest and return some health. But before the mouse turned around to disappear in the undergrowth, it stopped and turned back around. Perhaps he should reward this trainer for his confidence.

The Rattata disappeared towards the undergrowth, but not towards its own home. The rodent veered towards a Pecha berry bush and plucked one of the pink, sweet fruits off of the stem.

The mouse returned with the berry in its mouth. The Rattata placed it at Atrus's feet, and scurried away. Perhaps, when its strength returned, it could go find another trainer to battle. For now, though, it was timeto sunbathe on the flat rocks scattered around here. It was a nice day, after all.

The flower shop was quite large, but it was cute as well. The walls are pink, with crisp green stripes. There are shelves an counters everywhere, and people are looking at potted plants and the like. The aroma of the shop was quite entrancing. The earthiness of the soil, the scent from the flowers, and the sweet feeling of berries, all mixed to make for a strange perfume.

A woman hurries up to you, smiling. "Oh, hello! I haven't seen you around before, you must be new here! Here, let me give you some things. I'm sure your Pokemon would like some of them." The lady hurries away once again, to return with a few berries cupped in her hands. "Pokemon like to eat berries outside of battle as well. I must go now!" The woman rushed away. Evidently she is quite a busy worker in the store.

The Wurmple cried out as the force of the Tackle reached it. This foreign Pokemon is stronger than it looks. The caterpillar stared at the tortoise-like Pokemon in front of it. It knew that this Pokemon is a Turtwig, but just how strong was it? It seemed bold, brave, and ready for battle, like nothing could dampen its spirits.

Perhaps a String Shot would help slow it down. The Wurmple issued a fast-moving stream of sticky webbing at the Turtwig. The white thread wrapped itself all over the Turtwig, slowing down its movement. Perhaps it could dodge the turtle's strong attack the next time it strikes at the Wurmple.

Atrus bent down and gave the Ratatta a pat on the head before picking up the berry. It seemed the battle was over, and the Ratatta enjoyed itself as well. Flare did as well as she ran up and nuzzled against his leg. After placing the berry in the berry section of his bag, he stood back up, lifting Flare up with him. "You did fantastic Flare. Good work." he spoke in a pleasant tone.

Atrus returned to the road, with his Torchic and Pidgey riding on his shoulders, and his Shinx trotting alongside him. He had seen another trainer further on ahead along the path. He had just had his first wild battle. Now it was time to see how he'd fair against another trainer. With his guitar resting slung over the back of his neck and resting on his chest, he began walking down the path once more, heading towards the trainer.
