[[Finally getting around to replying again. Sorry!]]

Bracken stretched his wings anxiously, nervous energy building up within him. So there was something big out in the forest? That wasn't strange, not on its own, but yet Lunaro had mentioned an Articuno. Could that be who it was?

He scanned the treetops around them. There didn't seem to be any close movement. Apparently, Damian's dragon flare hadn't been enough to attract its attention. His brow furrowed. Had it been seen at all? Or maybe some Pokemon other than the Articuno had seen it, and was taking its time, examining them, and waiting for the right moment to strike...

A breeze stirred the branches above him and the Treecko jumped. He fought to calm himself. That was silly. They were Chrystanigh; they'd be able to take on a Pokemon like that if it came down to it, right? Lunaro knew all the types and there was certainly a strength in their number.

But it couldn't hurt to at least look, could it? Bracken glanced around the clearing. Everyone was busy doing something or other. Lunaro was training Blazeheart, Uriel was watching with an almost absent interest, Crystal was still asleep... it didn't seem like anybody was paying attention to him. Silently, he shifted back into his Grass form for camouflage and backed slowly into the tall grass behind him. Then, with an almost soundless leap, he jumped onto the trunk of a tree and started climbing, going from branch to branch, determined to figure out just what was lurking in the forest.

Tara stared uncomprehending for a second before blinking and coming out of her thoughts. "Oh! Uh, sorry," she said, looking down and digging in her bag for her money. She carefully counted the correct amount and handed it over to the lady, fidgeting slightly under her gaze.

As she waited for her to ring up the purchase, Tara preoccupied herself with tracing the rim of the Psycan with her finger. It was so silly to feel self-conscious here; she was just another customer to this lady, nothing more. She would probably forget about her before the day was over. But yet the fact that she'd been even just slightly distracted nagged at her. Tara tried to keep her face passive, not wanting the cashier to see her embarrassment.

Tara picked up the watering can, glancing briefly at the price. Well, it costs a bit more, but being able to plant berries might be a good investment. She turned the object over in her hands in consideration. Berry trees take time to grow, though... if I'm not around to harvest them, it'll all be for nothing. She stopped, taking a moment to comprehend that thought. Did she really intend to go through Atlantis without looking back? Suddenly her initial longing to explore seemed vague and ridiculous. The region was just so big... could she really spend every day moving on to find something new? Never stopping to truly appreciate what was around in the present?

Tara bit her lip. She honestly had no real plan. Having little experience as a trainer, she didn't know what to expect, and in a region this mysterious it was ten times worse. She retraced her steps through the shelves, heading over to the check-out counter. She felt completely unprepared for this journey, but hopefully whenever she looked at the Psyduck-shaped watering can, she'd be reminded to take it one step at a time.

Tara stared after the woman, her mouth slightly open. "O-Okay," she said quietly, even though she knew she couldn't hear. "Thanks..." She put the berries in her bag. Forcing her feet to move, she roamed along the shelves, stopping to smell a flower once in a while.

A part of her wanted to go on to Route 1, but after the lady had given her those berries, she felt like leaving so soon would be rude. Should I buy something? she wondered, a familiar feeling of awkward obligation filling her. Getting more berries is an option, but that kinda defeats the purpose of her giving some to me. She scratched her head. I can't exactly carry around a flower pot either. Oh...

Cody sneezed, interrupting her thoughts. Tara looked down at him. The Oshawott had stopped to smell a flower as well when she wasn't looking, and apparently the pollen had been a bit overwhelming. "Bless you," she said, smiling a little.

Cody wiped his nose in the most dignified way he could. "Osha."

In a lighter mood thanks to the Pokemon, Tara continued looking around the store, searching for something, anything, she could buy.

I'm guilty of going after Chespin as well. I really shouldn't be, though. I don't think I'll be able to stay in the race for two at this point. x_x

Tara mumbled softly, her eyes slowly drifting open. The excited chatter of Vanera Town filled her ears and she blinked. Had she... fallen asleep? Sitting straighter against the tree she'd been leaning against, she tried to recall through the fogginess of her mind.

She and Cody had taken a boat to the region the day before. It had been a long trip, landing what was probably a few hours ago. (She couldn't be bothered with the specifics.) Though she should have gotten some shut-eye during the trip, she had been too excited and anxious to sleep. The prospect of exploring a new land had kicked her brain into hyperdrive and it refused to slow down.

Tara looked up at the people milling about Vanera Town a short distance away. She must have gone off away from the arriving crowd to get a better look at the area and relaxed against a tree or something. Her gaze shifted over to the Oshawott beside her. Cody was standing straight, rigid and attentive as a sentinel. She giggled.

"Is the coast clear, chief?" the girl asked. Cody jumped a bit but relaxed upon recognizing her voice. Regaining his composure, he turned and gave her a nod. She smiled at him. "Thanks for keeping watch. I appreciate it."

Tara stood up and stretched before walking back to the main part of Vanera Town, Cody following in her wake. Still in the state of limbo between sleep and full awareness, she drifted among the people with no real destination in mind. She stopped briefly to examine a building decorated with budding flowers. 'Mulch and More' the sign said.

A flower store, huh? she thought. I'm not too interested in gardening, but I guess a quick look around before I head out wouldn't hurt. Resolved, she opened the door and peeked inside.

Lee breathed out slowly as he stood up, carrying the still-shivering Gale close. "It's okay," he whispered soothingly to the Miccino. "Those Gengars aren't gonna hurt you." Gale looked up at him and his trainer smiled, though a thought lingered at the back of his mind. Wish I could say the same for myself.

With each step towards Renn, the more it dawned on him. He was in over his head. It was almost not a matter of if he got found out anymore, but when. With the precautions the Guardians were taking, all it would take was the eventual slip-up to send everything crashing down. They probably had other ways of keeping an eye on them besides the Gengars that they kept secret.

Lee took another deep breath. Yes, that was a definite possibility, but he couldn't let it get to him. Panicking would get him nowhere. It was like treading water; flailing around only tires you out. Only with slow, calm, and calculated movements could he keep himself afloat.

[[Heh, don't apologize! Your post was really interesting and I enjoyed reading it. :3 If it was me writing it, I probably wouldn't have done as well. XD

Edited in the last paragraph because I couldn't think of a response when I first wrote this.]]

Lee suppressed a flinch at the mention of Team Galactic. He growled inwardly at himself. Why am I still reacting even at the mention of them? I shouldn't be. I have nothing to do with them. Why can't I just forget?! His father's demeaning laughter rang out in his mind, mocking him, reminding him of more memories that wouldn't go away.

He closed his eyes. This wouldn't do. He had to focus. Coming out of his thoughts, the boy caught the tail end of Renn talking about how a large portion of the Guardians had been removed. Wait, they have the ability to erase memories? he puzzled. How exactly are they ab- His thoughts were interrupted by Gale's startled cry, and his eyes shot open. The Miccino buried his face in his shirt and Lee looked behind him to see what had scared the Pokemon.

Lee's searching gaze was met by the maniacal smile of a Gengar. He started, caught off guard, and the Ghost-type's smile grew even larger. Its' piercing eyes seemed to see straight to his very soul. What's the matter, kid? he could almost hear it taunt. You got something to hide? He looked away, trying to calm his racing heartbeat. A regular Guardian recruit wouldn't be too bothered by the precaution. With how many of their original members they'd kicked out, it made sense.

That was how he tried to make himself appear outwardly, but, beneath the surface, he was filled with twisting anxiety. Why didn't I expect something like this earlier? he scolded himself. They're serious about this. I have to treat it serious, too. I can't take any risks. Like Renn said, I'll never know when they'll be watching.

Lee breathed in and out slowly, willing his reawakened nerves to relax. So, they'd be going out to the Vault then? He... he honestly didn't know what to think of that. It wasn't too out there, being on the island for a whole week. He certainly understood the reasoning behind it. But yet, the unfamiliar aspect of trying to recruit the Gijinkas chipped away at his confidence. He was never one for conversation and much less for convincing others. He'd always kept to himself, content to do things on his own and let everyone else have their own opinions. He tried to think of what he could possibly say, but came up with nothing.

Lee hoped the words he needed would come with time.

Title: The Theater

Seeing that the entrance to the theater was just ahead, Lee bent down and picked up Gale. The white-furred Pokemon squirmed a bit in his arms, and he whispered to him, "Try to calm down a little. This is a really important meeting and we don't want to cause a fuss." Hearing the serious tone of his trainer's voice, Gale settled down, but couldn't help but constantly look back and forth to take in the room.

Lee sat down in the seat next to Raffaellu, absentmindedly stroking the Miccino's head as he examined the people around them. So, these are the Guardians, he thought to himself. Or a part of them, at least. It's funny... somehow it skipped my mind that they're ordinary people just like the rest of us. I guess that's what happens when all you know about a group comes from stories and rumors. Without thinking, he lifted his hand up but then caught himself and froze.

Should I? he wondered, scanning the faces of the people around him. Nobody seemed to have noticed the movement. Raffaellu seemed to be too caught up in the moment to pay attention to him either. If he did it quickly and discretely enough, everything would go without a hitch.

But yet Lee didn't move. I know nothing about this building, he realized. If the Guardians have a way of detecting things like this, I'd be done in a second. I can't risk it. He resumed the movement but straightened his collar instead, hoping nobody had noticed his brief moment of indecision. I'll probably be able to do it later, outside of here. A lady stepped onto the stage and he looked up, quieting his thoughts and waiting for the meeting to start.

[[Herp derp, edit on account of setting fail. XP]]

Lee nodded wordlessly to Raffaellu, taking in his words. That's right, he told himself, falling in step behind Carla and the others. I can't just assume that I'll be able to make it through the training. Nothing's guaranteed. If I'm going to be a Guardian, I'm gonna have to work for it. He fiddled with the buttons on his shirt again, going from the lowest to the highest. Just focus on completing the training and nothing else and you'll do fine.

The boy allowed himself to smile as Selene spoke. She was just so cheerful. Doubtless she was nervous as well, but like Raffaellu had said, they were all nervous. Lee let out a quiet sigh and gazed up towards the tree tops, watching an Emolga skitter across the branches. He almost wished he could be that carefree. With the current circumstances, he couldn't exactly afford it. Maybe, if things had gone down differently, he would've been as happy and open as the others... but he had made his decision and he had no regrets.

Gale darted out of a bush ahead of them, munching on an Oran berry and smiling from ear to ear. The Miccino walked beside him as the Guardians' training camp came in sight. Though the cabins were fairly simple, Lee's curiosity was piqued as to what they looked like inside, but he followed without objection as they walked past them and into another building.

"It's really nice here," he said, realizing that he had been contemplative for a long time again. Man, that would be a hard habit to break. He paused as Raffaellu spoke, taking a moment to examine a picture on the wall before responding. "I don't see why not. The point of training is to make sure we're prepared to do what we'll be assigned to do, and we'll probably end up having to spend a few nights out in the wild somewhere. Even if we don't, it would be a good precaution. You never know what your shortcomings are until you're tested, right?"

Listening to: Wild Battle (1)- Pokemon Reborn Soundtrack

(WARNING: This post is 100% me rambling to myself. If I don't seem completely collected and/or sound insane, that's why.)

Oh gosh, I underestimated how difficult making your own Strength/Weakness chart can be. Mad props to the people who don't use an online team builder; this stuff is HARD.

To make a long story short, I finally made a chart to check my planned Pokemon X team's weaknesses. It took me over an hour to figure out how to format it so I didn't get confused. And it still looks confusing. x_x

My team so far is Froakie (Water/Dark), Helioptile (Electric/Normal), Gallade, Aurorus, and Crobat. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the first two's evolutions have those types, especially Froakie. I have a personal rule against using more than one of the same type and Gallade is really keeping my team afloat. PLEASE don't be Water/Fighting, you awesome ninja frog you! D:

Anyway, after finishing the chart, I made a few points to myself:

1. I can't use any Steel types. With my count against Fighting being two strengths and four weaknesses (also three resistances), I can't afford another thing weak to it. The only way to get around this would be if there's a Steel/Fairy type, but I doubt one exists.

...OH. *facepalm* Mawile totally exists. I just forgot because I'm a derp. Also because I'm not interested in using it. It just... creeps me out.

2. I'll probably have to avoid Fairy types as well due to a similar situation with Steel. (One strength, two weaknesses, two resistances.) I could sneak past that with a Fairy/Fire type, but I don't think Game Freak be stupid enough to make a Fairy type with resistance to one of its two weaknesses. >_> Herp derp, don't mind me. I wasn't thinking about Fire's weaknesses.

(Watch me totally eat my words when the games come out.)

3. Besides those two type combinations, the best Pokemon for my last slot should be either Flygon Dragon/Ground, mono Grass, or mono Dragon because of my need for Electric resistances/immunity. I can't just let my weakness to Electric slide, now can I?

...

Yes, I made that joke. COME AT ME, BRO.

Err, moving on now. If Gen 6 doesn't introduce any Pokemon of those types that I'm interested in, I'm totally using Leafeon. It's one of the four Eeveelutions (Flareon, Espeon, Leafeon, and Sylveon) I haven't matched up with a game team yet, and I definitely want to use it the most. Not only that, but I won't be able to use it in Z/X2/whatever because I'll be using Chespin as my starter.

...Yes, I'm really excited for these games to come out. How'd you guess?

"Huh?" Lee looked up at Raffaellu blankly, caught off guard. Oh, he's concerned about me, he realized after a moment. I guess I did spend almost the whole ferry ride just keeping to myself. Of course he would notice.

"I'm... I'm just nervous, is all," he said, making a mental note to not get that caught up in his thoughts again. "I've never done something this big before. All I've ever done as a trainer is beat a few gyms." He looked away, watching the waves meet the shore. "When I received that ticket, I-I almost thought it was a joke. It didn't seem real that somebody thought I was special enough to join a group as big as the Guardians. But now that I'm here... I can't prove them wrong."

Worthless... less than trash... a past memory echoed. Lee clenched his fists. He'd show him. He'd show him he was anything but.

A girl's voice jolted him out of it. He looked back to the island and saw Carla in the trees. Nodding in response, he finally walked off the dock and onto the island, standing a bit behind Selene. Raffaellu's wrong. I am alone. But no matter what, I will not fail.

Title: Sanctuary Island

[Good to have you back. :3]

Lee fingered Gale's pokeball as the message played, but took a good look at the Miccino scrambling from window to window to see the island better and decided against it. He couldn't bring himself to dampen the Pokemon's excitement.

"Just don't go off exploring without me," he said to the Miccino. Gale turned and blinked in confusion, as if the thought hadn't occurred to him, and Lee couldn't help but chuckle. The movement of the ferry stopped, fading into a gentle rocking, and Lee got to his feet. He followed after Raffaellu, taking special care to watch his step as he walked onto the dock.

Then he looked up, and all his thoughts and worries disappeared.

Seeing the island from far off was one thing, but actually being up close was a whole other experience entirely. Everything about it radiated life, from the plants swaying in the wind to the melody of Pokemon cries that filled the air.

"Wow..." Lee whispered, almost struck speechless by the beauty of it all. He'd never seen such a place before. It was certainly more inviting than-

He shook his head, forcing the thought out of his mind. There was no time for comparison. He watched briefly as Gale darted ahead of him and picked up his pace, still taking it all in.

Listening to: Make-A-Toon- Disney's Toontown Official Soundtrack

Today is a very sad day for me. After 10 years of fun, friends, and blowing up robots with pies, Toontown Online has been shut down.

I know that nothing lasts forever, but this still hits me really hard. Toontown was my dream game was I was young. I still remember walking through Walmart with my family and seeing the gamecards on display in the aisles and seeing the commercials on ABC Kids. Everything about it appealed to me. The colors, the cartoonish graphics, the Toons, and for crying out loud it was DISNEY! When I first started up the Free Trial years later, I was shaking with excitement.

...And then I couldn't get past the tutorial because I was too scared to run into the cog. XD

I think I went through three phases of playing the free trial, each probably a year or so apart in time. I loved playing it so much, but I just didn't have the money to buy subscriptions. But then, in 2008, I was finally able to play the game for real. I created my Toon, a red and orange cat named Little Winky Nickelgadget, and embarked on my journey through Toontown.

And what a journey it was! Because of Toontown, I ended up joining a fansite and made some of the best online friends I've ever had. I wrote and finished my first fanfic and, though I never wrote them, came up with several ideas for others. Even when I was running out of excitement for the game in 2010, my friends Butterfly and Violet and I did a weekly roleplay where we'd be detectives. Out of all the games I've played, Toontown will always have my most cherished moments.

Eventually I ran out of the drive to pay the monthly subscription and stopped playing. Though I loved the game and still checked in with my friends, there was nothing new or exciting. Sure, there were accessories and parties, but major updates (like the Acorn Acres tunnel that never opened) just were never added. As time went by, I drifted further and further away and stopped coming online altogether.

Flash-forward to August 20th, 2013, when Disney made their official announcement that they were closing the game. Honestly, I'd never really thought about the possibility of it closing before, so it shocked me. I couldn't believe it. What had been a major part of my life for several years was being shut down. Naturally, I signed whatever petitions I could find, but when nothing changed I grew to accept it.

Even though I was sick yesterday, last night I went on Toontown for one final time. And I have to say, it was the most fun I've had in years. A bunch of members from the fansite I was on were doing boss runs, and though I missed the ones I could participate in, it was great to hang out with them again. I even managed to find a separate group to do a CFO with, which was really important to me since that was the last thing I failed to do before my last membership expired. And of course, the last thing I bought from the catalog was a top hat.

I was in tears as I logged off for the last time. Even now I feel like I'm about to cry, but what's done is done. Toontown Online is now officially closed. Despite what other people may be trying to do like set up "private servers" or stuff like that, nobody can change that fact. But that doesn't mean it's gone completely.

I'm still in good touch with the friends I met through it. The fansite, despite losing the game it was originally based upon, is not closing down. And though the majority of my Toontown screenshots have been lost, all the fun times I had over the years still live on in my heart.

Thank you, Disney, and everybody who worked on this wonderful game, for bringing gag-filled fun and friendship to all who played Toontown across the world. It truly will be missed.
