Storm. Rain, lightning, rain, thunder,
floods, tsunamis, and even more rain. The lot. What was the cause
of all of this storm? In fact, it was caused by a Lugia, who had
gotten into a fight with a Ho-Oh for no known reason. One powerful
flap of its wings can cause a fierce forty day storm, so it was
obvious that there would be such a big storm that caused
devastation everywhere.
However, the Lugia must have made amends with the Ho-Oh, for the storm cleared to reveal the long awaited sun. The event of the storm came to be known as The Rough Sea Deluge. Everybody recovered, reconstructing their buildings, making sure loved ones are safe, just carrying on with their normal life. One day, a cargo ship called the Atlanis was just making its way through the ocean. Then they saw land. Not a little island, but a whole REGION. The Rough Sea Deluge had lifted a whole tectonic plate from the ocean floor, creating a region that's bigger than Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Hoenn, and Unova.
Once the Atlantis came back with news of this discovery, people from all regions began to move to this new region in huge quantities. The region was named Atlantis, in honor of the ship that had heralded the news to the world. Something strange happened as well. The usually discreet Lapras began showing up everywhere on the seas and oceans, carrying large masses of Pokemon from all regions on their backs. These Lapras then dropped the Pokemon off onto the shores of Atlantis, and the wild Pokemon scattered to forests, deserts, and whatnot. Pokemon that could fly were soaring to this new region, and some of the Pokemon of the ocean swam to this new area.
Strange new Pokemon were discovered on this island. Nobody knows how they got there. Perhaps the very Arceus itself had blessed this land with more life. Ant thus, Atlantis, the region of new beginnings, was born.

You are a new trainer who had moved to
Atlantis. You live in Vanera Town, and you have been given your
starter Pokemon from Professor Bark to begin your journey. What
will you experience on your way? Maybe you'll become a breeder, or
a scientist, or a gym leader. If you want to set your sights
higher, you can try to become the Champion of Atlantis.
Seems like a perfect life, right? Wrong. You might encounter fatal Pokemon sicknesses, trouble in many towns and cities, and even thieves who aim to steal the Pokemon of trainers. You might even meet Team Delusion, who are a band of strong scientist/trainers. They do horrible experiments to Pokemon, and possibly to humans as well. Or you may even JOIN them, goodness knows what you were thinking.
Are you up to this challenge?

These are sort of rules, but not
really. These are things you need to know about this RP, so read
carefully!
1. This is a Lit. RP! That means at least two paragraphs, with good grammar and stuff. Typos are okay, I make them a lot myself. But stick to the rules of writing, okay? Please?
2. You can control what your Pokemon does. You can choose their personality and actions, and stuff like that. But in a battle, if your Pokemon attacks the enemy, you do not get to choose if the attack hits or not. I get to choose if your Pokemon misses or hits, or if they strike a critical hit.
3. Walking lowers the chance of meeting a wild Pokemon. Running increases the chance, and so does cycling (you get your bicycle further in the RP). Also, if you happen to have a steed to ride on (such as a Ponyta or Rapidash), you can really cover some ground.
4. I control what the NPC or the wild Pokemon does. Sorry.
5. You can't catch a Legendary Pokemon. Not possible, since they're practically gods (Arceus is pretty much the god of all gods). However, if you defeat a Legendary (making it faint, which is very hard to do), then the Legendary will drop something and fly away. That item is a Summon item, and if you do a certain thing with it, the Legendary will come to you.

Personality: A big-time Pacifist and a Philosophical thinker, she travels around the region in the hopes of discovering new and great thing. She is one of those people who is constantly climbing mountains, digging and doing all kinds of things to figure out the secrets of the region (so she's basically a self-hired Archeologist). She is shy, unsocial and a bit blunt, but she is also a helpful person.
History: She had grown up in the big cities of the Sinnoh region, digging through ruins to figure out the history of ancient people and such. Even during the great storm, she would not give up her search for ancient knowledge. She did her best to protect important pieces of history during the great storm.
Suddenly there was news of a new island and how it attracted all kinds of life mysteriously. Naturally, this spurred Diana to move to it, being the adventurous kind who loved mysteries. That is how her story there began.

Personality: Atrus is a kind and compassionate soul. He will battle only as needed, but prefers to approach Pokemon as friends, much like N Harmonia. He loves music and plays his songs, often using his guitar to soothe Pokemon and people. he is keenly aware of his disease, but never mentions it unless the situation prevents him from hiding his disease.
History: Atrus was born in Littleroot, Hoenn, but even from the moment he was born, his life was guaranteed to be an uphill battle. His mother had been an unknowing carrier of a rare virus called the Reaper Virus. It was a retro virus that attacked the immune system and respiratory system as well. While his family was wealthy, his existence was a costly burden to them as he constantly needed a steady supply of suppressor drugs in order to inhibit the spread of the virus and to keep the symptoms at bay.
Atrus was never allowed to enjoy life the way others would, his parents fearful of him being at risk of so much as catching a cold, as his immune-compromised body would be unable to fight the disease off. While it meant still being alive, it wasn't 'living', not to him. He'd watch Pokemon contests, battles and other Pokemon programs, wanting to experience that life. His parents bought him a guitar to play in order to keep him busy, and over the years, Atrus became quite good at it, even writing a few songs.
As beautiful as his parent's home was and as nice as the town was, Atrus yearned to explore the world, something his parents would never allow. They worried about him falling ill and dying on his journey. But to Atrus, life spent in a gilded cage was no life at all. Even if he was putting his life in danger, he wanted to live his life to the fullest. One night, he gathered up everything he would need for the trip, including his medication, and fled.
Eventually he met Professor Birch doing field research. Concerned that the boy had no Pokemon to protect him, Birch decided to let the boy choose one of the Pokemon he kept reserved for new trainers. After spending time with each of them, the Torchic took a liking to the boy, and Atrus took her as his partner. Professor Birch also told Atrus about a boat leaving for a newly discovered region known as Atlantis. Not wanting to miss out on this once in a lifetime chance, Atrus bought a boat ticket and set sail for the new land.

Personality: While not a complete introvert, Tara prefers to hang out on her own most of the time. She's very nervous about approaching strangers, but in the company of people she feels comfortable around, she's a joyful personality. She loves being able to make others laugh and tries to help whenever she can, but freaks out if put in a place of leadership or any sort of spotlight. When confronted with stressful situations, she will usually retreat behind the pages of a book to escape reality.
History: Though she lived in Icirrus City, Unova for most of her life, Tara never ventured far from her hometown. A part of her yearned for an adventure like ones in her books, but fear of going out into the unknown always quenched it. She eventually got a part-time job working in the Pokemart. Months went by, each day being another run through the motions.
One day, however, she overheard someone talking during the end of her shift. They were talking about a new region called Atlantis and how a lot of trainers were going to explore it. Tara's thirst for adventure was awakened. She was not content with living in the same place for the rest of her life and doing the same things over and over again. Going to Atlantis might be the fresh start she needed.
She pushed through her initial hesitation and asked the person more about the region. The person, introducing herself as Professor Juniper, gave her some more information regarding where to get a ticket. Sensing Tara's interest but seeing that she had no Pokemon of her own, the Pokemon Professor offered to give her a starter to travel with her.
And so Tara began her journey, not sure what to expect but excited all the same.

The crisp early morning air blew over the deck of the cruise boat as it neared the region of Atlantis. most everyone was still asleep, and the sun had just barely peeked form the oceanic horizon. But Atrus was already awake and standing towards the stern of the boat, looking out at the slowly creeping sunrise.
His Torchic Flare stood on his shoulder while the young trainer had his guitar slung over the other and resting against his chest. Taking the neck in one hand and flicking a pick over the strings, he began to play a soothing, repetitive melody. It was simple, not a lot of chords, and yet it held a sort of power to it. As the sun began to rise, Atrus began to softly sing a simple repeating tune, one he did every morning as a sort of affirmation.
"There's only us
There's only this
Forget regret
Or life is yours to miss
No other road
No other way
No day but today."
He watched the sun rise fully while he played. As he finished the tune, the fog horn belted out, signalling their arrival. Atrus walked over to the inside of the dining hall of the cabin, putting together a quick breakfast of a bagel with cream cheese, a bowl of Pokechow for Flare, and a bottle of moo milk to share with his Pokemon to drink with their breakfast.
He and his Torchic took their time eating, while everyone else hurried off to start their own explorations. While this was his first, and potentially his only adventure, he was in no hurry to start right away. Everything should be savored and time taken. And once the meal was done, Atrus gathered his backpack of belongings and made his way off of the boat, being one of the last ones to depart the boat and step foot onto the port.
"Here we are Flare. The Atlantis region. We've got a long journey ahead of us." he spoke with a smile. The Torchic chirped in delight and agreement with her trainer. He made sure to take a look around and find a secluded place to duck out of sight for a moment before breaking out his inhaler medication and taking a hit of it.
He couldn't neglect doing this, as this medicine was quite literally his lifeline. According to the doctors, he should have died three years ago. Even now, the boy was living on borrowed time. The Reaper Virus was still inside of him, and only the medication kept it at bay. But at the same time, he didn't want to worry others of have people try to keep him from this journey.
You only live once. And for someone like Atrus, he was going to make the most out of what time he had before it was time to meet Arceus in the world beyond life.

This was not an exception for Atrus Rogers. The town was bustling with life and energy. People were streaming in weekly from all regions, and every so often, Pokemon came on the backs of Lapras. There were small cottages, and bigger houses, but nothing in this peaceful town was noticeable. That is, except for a huge flower garden laid out right in the middle of the town.
"Oh, look at the flower garden! So pretty!" a girl within earshot of Atrus chirped to her friend. "It's supposed to be the largest flower garden in the world, or something like that. I bet there's tons of Pokemon in there." Sure enough, citizens and new trainers alike were wading through the flowers. Some of them were battling the wild Pokemon that were attracted to the sweet smelling aroma of the flowers.
There are many things to do here in Vanera Town. One is to immediately go and explore Route One. Another is to explore the large flower garden. Maybe one could stay for a bit, meet people, and bond with their Pokemon. Perhaps someone could explore some buildings, such as the Pokemart or a building that has large letter painted on that says, 'Mulch and More' with bright green paint. Most likely it's a flower shop, with berries, mulch, and the like. There might be something useful inside.
Yes, there are even more things to do. There is time to do everything, really, but that would take quite a bit of time. The flowers seem to beckon at you with their colored, graceful petals. Perhaps they actually are trying to reach out at you. One never knows with flowers.

Atrus glanced over towards the field of flowers at the center of town. It reminded him of a show he watched documenting Floraroma Town of the Sinnoh region. His parents in their mansion had a garden, but not one this big, and there were plenty of Pokemon and other people within the garden. As he neared the edge of the garden, he took in the scent of the flower there. "Why don't you take a smell Flare? The aroma is quite pleasant" the boy spoke, encouraging his Torchic.
The little fire chicken hopped off of his shoulder and began sniffing around the flowers nearby. She cheeped happily and ran about the flowers. While his Torchic kept close and explored not too far from Atrus, the young trainer walked into the garden and over to a park bench.
Flare plucked a flower from the garden and hopped up onto the bench, placing the flower on his lap. Atrus smiled to Flare's little gift. "Thank you. Here, it looks better on you though." the boy teased before taking the flower and fixing it into Flare's head feathers. "There we go."
Flare chirped and bounced on the seat happily. With his guitar resting on his chest, the young trainer took out a small notebook and began writing some words that came to his mind down upon it. A serene yet lively place like this was great inspiration for his musical side. Once he had the lyrics written down and a tune in his head, it was time to try it out. He kept the music and sound of his voice light, not wanting to disturb the Pokemon in the garden, though he expected some might become curious and head towards him. Those that did, he would certainly try to befriend, and maybe add to his team. With his pick and guitar in hand, he began to play his tune.

Other Pokemon were more outgoing. A Shinx that lived in the tall grass of Route One and had come to the flower garden, drawn by the sweet smell, padded towards the music. The Pokemon's yellow-gold eyes looked up at Atrus in wonder. After all, there was no music in the grass of Route One. A Sentret popped up and scurried to the music, then hoisted itself up with its tail to get a better view.
A third Pokemon also flew over to see- and hear- what's going on. A Pidgey flapped its small wings and landed on the bench handle. The bird closed its eyes, enjoying the clear music coming from the instrument. The Pidgey had heard the music from an oak tree near the garden, and came to check out the mysteriously calming sound.
The four Pokemon, one of them a little hard to see, all settled around Atrus, fascinated by the music. Other Pokemon are too shy to come so close to the boy, but four Pokemon is enough, if not more.

Atrus saw that he was gathering a small group of Pokemon to him with his music. One was partially hidden by a flower leaf, but such a leaf didn't conceal much given the size of the bug type. The Shinx seemed fascinated by the music, and was quite the cute little electric feline. The Pidgey seemed to also enjoy the soft sounds of the music and seemed to be listening intently. And from the flower patch, a Sentret popped up onto its tail.
Music had the power to soothe the savage beast, so they say, and even soothe those that weren't very savage at all. Once he finished the tune, the boy reached his hand down to the Shinx first to pet its head and scritch it behind the left ear with his fingertips. He looked around to the other Pokemon as well that were closeby. "Hello my friends. Did you like that music? I'll play more if you'd like." the trainer spoke.
All four of them were quite pleasant and cute, though the Shinx caught the boy's attention the most. That sense of wonderment in its eyes mirrored his own as this was his first adventure outside of his home. Everything was new and exciting to him, with the potential for wonder and danger. He gave a pat to an open spot beside him on the bench, offering the Shinx a place to sit with him and Flare.
Once the Shinx made its choice of what to do, he would play another soothing song. No words, just the pleasant melodies from his guitar. He enjoyed his music and the emotions each one stirred. He watched the Pokemon as he played, enjoying their company. Once the song was done, he'd once more turn his attention to the Shinx. "How would you like to come and travel with me?" he asked before looking to the other Pokemon. "You're all welcomed as to join as well, if you desire." he spoke in a friendly tone.
He certainly wouldn't turn down any potential friends and allies, and it wasn't something he'd force upon them. If they wanted a test of skill beforehand, he had no problem in doing that. It was something that set him apart form other trainers, giving the Pokemon the option of choice, rather than beating them senseless and chucking balls at them.
Some might have families waiting for them, as he was sure his family would be waiting for him. Heck, they were probably worried sick since he left with nothing more than a note. He'd make sure to stop at the Pokemon Center later to give them a call and let them know he's alright. For now though, he waited to see what the answer would be from the Pokemon, especially the Shinx.

The Sentret wasn't very interested either. It liked the music, and the boy. But exploring wasn't its style of life. It would definitely join if Atrus wanted to settle down here in Vanera Town, but Atrus wanted to go explore Atlantis. So, with a touch of regret, the Sentret patted Atrus's foot with its paw and scurried away. Perhaps one day the boy would return, and the Sentret could meet him again. The human certainly was an interesting character.
That left the Pidgey and the Shinx. The bird Pokemon was cautious. To the Pidgey, it seemed that the boy liked the Shinx a tad better. However, the bird never had the chance to go on a journey before. No human was interested in recruiting a common Pidgey to their team, anyways. Not that the Pidgey had ever thought much about being on a team. Then the bird finally hopped onto Atrus's shoulder. "Pidgey! Pid-gey." the Pokemon cheeped, accepting the offer.
The Shinx made its decision in a split second. No humans have ever petted the Shinx before. Even though the action seemed like a small thing, it wasn't to the Shinx. It was like a promise, or an offering. Besides, there would be music to listen to on the way. There would be adventures, battles, and of course, the boy. The feline nodded eagerly, and met his eyes.
The two new recruits were ready for action. Atrus now has three Pokemon to share his experience with. Three Pokemon to bond with. Three Pokemon to go exploring with, on this mystical new region.
((You'll need a Pokeball for each of them. Each Pokemon trainer starts off with 5 Pokeballs. Flare already has her own Pokeball, so no worries about that.))

Atrus bid farewell to the Weedle and the Sentret. The Weedle seemed to simply be interested in the music, so at the very least, it had the chance to listen and enjoy before returning to where ever it was headed. The Sentret seemed to like the boy enough to pat the boy's foot, but left regardless. That left the Shinx and Pidgey.
The Pidgey hopped onto his shoulder, seemingly happy to take his offer. Atrus reached up with his right hand and rubbed the back of the Pidgey's head pleasantly. His other hand caressed over the Shinx's back. "Well then, I look forward to traveling with you all." he replied before then removing his hands from his two new partners and then reached for the empty Pokeballs on his belt.
Expanding them in his hands, he pressed the button of each one onto their foreheads, causing the red light to shoot out and digitize them, pulling them into the matrix of the Pokeballs. Once the captures were confirmed, he'd take out the Pokedex to look up the information of each. "We've got some new friends Flare. Let's see. I'll name the Pidgey Skyla, and our Shinx friend Sable. Those sound like fitting names, don't they Flare?"
The Torchic chirped and jumped up onto his shoulder, happy to know she'd have other Pokemon to play with. Standing up, the trainer began to make his way towards the Pokemon center while looking up the information about his new friends: their moves, their level, their abilities, their stats, things he would need to know in order to best train them to their own unique styles.
