Alex frowned good naturedly at Shadow. "Don't doubt us! Us three
are gonna do just as well!" He gave Shadow a friendly nudge, then
continued jumping to get Silver's attention.
Silver swooped down. "Who threw the coin?" She demanded in a
demonic voice, unconsciously reaching for her fire blade. No one
irritated her like that! Wait, that was the demon speaking...shut
up! Calm down, calm down....
Alex shrugged. "No coin was thrown, I just used the sunlight to
reflect light onto your wings. though I may have missed, slightly,"
Alex joked, remembering how it had shone in Silver's eyes. "We were
just wondering if you wanted to go on a challenging quest with us,
and you were so high up."
Lyra just looked at Silver, they had never met but she hoped they
could be friends. "Hello, I don't believe we've met, my name is
Lyra" Said the joyful archer. She wanted to meet this cat and learn
more about her.
Silver just glared at them, not speaking. The only sound she made
was the thundering of her wings as she hovered in front of them.
Then, without warning, her eyes turned red and the slashed a claw
across Alex's eye, leaving a stinging wound. "Never do that
again!" It was harder to control the demon half when she was
angry, and she was fuming. She thought this cat was her friend!
Alex winced, but honestly, he should've expected that. Darn it
Alex, you're getting soft after leavinf the city! he mentally
scolded himself. He decided to play passively. "I'm sorry," Alex
said, drooping his tail threateningly. "I probably deserved that,"
He said. "If you're ok with it.. want to go on a quest?"
Shadow stepped forward. “Whoa, Silver, STOP.” Calm down your demon
half, silver. Fighting isn’t going to change anything except make
you and Alex more distant, and we need close bonds if we’re going
to be great questmates. Do you hear me?!
Down deep, shadow thought “another turn of emotions. Maybe Silver
needs to take a yoga class.
Shadow said “He was just trying to get your attention. With you
flying all the way up there, due to the fact that we let you use
the blue ember, he couldn’t contact you without doing something
mildly annoying. Now you’ve made him draw back into his street
instincts, and it’ll be harder from him to open up. So how about we
forget what happened and get going.
Alex laughs. He recently learned that Silver has half demon,
chances were, it wasn't his fault. "Its ok man, I did deserve it,
and I'll deal with the consequences. Plus, it looks sort of cool,"
Alex joked, staring at his reflection in the dropped coin.
Silver shook her head. Her eyes stopped glowing.
"Sorry...just..don't make me mad." she growled, hating to loose
control like that, but she'd been caught off guard, and she was
still learning to control it even after all these years. Evolution
seemed to make the demon's voice louder...
Alex smiled. "Its ok, dont sweat. It was my fault, " He admitted.
"Hey, let me know if theres anything you don't want me to do, and
I'll ask before I do anything like that again."
Alright everyone. Lets just go. After checking out the bulletin
boards, Shadow asks “how about we head into the mines. We might
even find an ember while trying to defeat the dragons. However, I
heard that those dragons are great at maneuvering in tight spaces,
and have a great space of smell. They also have really tight scales
and some over their eyes, as an adaptation to the dirt. Since we
are in their territory, we gotta be careful.”
"Umm, sneaking into their territory doesn't sound like the best
idea, otherwise we're straight up asking for war..." She'd been
around longer, and had only known hero work as defending your home
and people, war was the wrong option. It wasn't worth an ember or
two dragons would attack them, but unless provoked, Starlight would
never allow the Castle Cats to attack the dragons in their own
homeland.
"Hey Silver do you want any potions?" Said Lyra."You might want
some, they'll help a lot" She looked at the she-cat wondering if
she would accept her offer. If she didn't, it was her fault if she
got hurt and couldn't heal herself.
"Well, the best defense is a good offense," Alex pointed out. "No
dragons, no way for them to attack us. If we attack first, we'll be
safe after." This philosophy fit with Alex's impulsiveness, so he
decided to follow it. Alex pawed at the long gash down his face. It
stung a little bit, but it wasn't bad, just annoying.
"Sure, but don't pay were questing and we want to make sure
everyone is safe" Replied Lyra. She wanted to make sure everyone
didn't die or get extremely injured. She put a few potions in
Shadow's bag, and shut it for him. She hoped that they could all
work as a team, and she could become friends with Silver.
Silver turned away. "There are way more dragons then there are of
us. You guys just want a war, but dragons aren't all like the ones
we fought. Some are actually hard to knock out. If they declare the
war first, that's one thing, but if you're going to act rash, I
have to stop you." She blocked their way to the gate. "You aren't
going anywhere unless we go somewhere else." She said firmly,
clearly not planning to move. This was her angel speaking, wanting
the best for everyone and trying to go for the greater and more
logical option.
"I don't want war either, and there are probably other
places where the dragons are actually stealing from us, we could go
there." Lyra stood beside Silver, if they wanted war they would
have to get through them. "If the dragons are stealing or battling
us you can fight them, but right now you don't have a reason to
fight them." Said Lyra.
"Fine." Alex had a mental list of reasons not to wait, but Silver
was his friend, and he was going to be supportive. "What about this
quest?" Alex pointed at one on the boards, showing a pack of wolves
terrorising the town an hour away.
"That would be okay, because then we would actually be helping
someone." Said the female archer. She thought that the cats who
were being terrorized might give them reward if they helped them.
She couldn't just think of money though, these were innocent cats
they had to help. "Ready?"
