The dark outlines are not recolored. and why are the sprites so big and blurry? o3o Well anyways, nice job then.
Try Eevee recolored as Zorua and vice versa.

I used Umbreon as the base, and used Houndoom as the secondary Pokemon. You can see, it looks like a Umbreon, but with Houndoom features.
EDIT: And by "Basic Mixing" you mean "Basic Fusions" correct? I not than ignore me XD

You can open up a image using different methods.
And there are many different tools you can use.

Try going to Pokestadium.com,
click on the tools button on the upper right corner. (You don't have to have an account.)
Then simply type the Pokemon you want in the search bar and there you go. :3
Try Gengar as Clefable.

nit seems a lot of people have no clue what prerequisites means. So I will add it to the front post. I ask that everyone please read the rules again and it will have a thingy explaining what prerequisites means. That, if you could kindly repost your forms, that would be epic. Thanks. :3
