Andromeda barked softly, "Let them rest, we'll bring back
something for everyone. There are many deer in these woods, one
could feed us all," she said, and she turned to step out of the
cave. The morning light glittered on the frozen snow that covered
the forest floor. Her paws crunched softly through the top layer of
the snow as she walked. Andromeda sniffed the air, and listened.
All we need to do is follow a vague sent, then we'll see their
footprints before long, she thought, staring at her own
footprints that trailed behind her.
One of Androemda’s ears swiveled back as she heard Kanti enter the
snow behind her. She continued walking forward, treading softly. “
Do you hunt much? I’ve always wondered how a fox prefers to
hunt, ” she said. In all honesty, Andromeda had little to go on
other than instinct. What she did to get by in the city could
hardly be referred to as hunting.
Yukio yawned and woke up. He looked around the den in slight
confusion. His vampire cape was still on his back even as a lion
cub. "Where's the others?" he asked Kat and glanced over to
his friend.
"They're hunting. They should be back soon" Kat replied looking up
from his work.
Lucia had morphed back into a coyote and had curled up on the
ground again, glancing over at the two was they talked. She yawned
and rested her head on her paws, looking outside the cave tiredly.
I wonder what happened to that wolf.. She shook herself and
fluffed out her fur. Oh well.
Before Kanti could answer, Andromeda heard branches breaking not
far from their position. As quietly as she could, she moved through
the trees towards the sound. She could see the tan fur of a deer
through the trees up ahead, grazing off the branches of a bush that
still had leaves on it. Andromeda signaled for Kanti to walk around
to the right, as she headed to the left of the deer, still hidden
in the trees.
Andromeda silently stalked through the trees until she and Kanti
had the deer surrounded on two sides. She crept as close to the
deer as she could while still hidden, and locked eyes with Kanti.
Now!, she mouthed to Kanti, hoping she would understand.
The deer leapt with its powerful hind legs and tried to run, with
Kanti hanging off of him. The deer ran right into Andromeda, who
leapt out of her hiding place, latching her jaw around the deer's
neck. The combined weight of their bodies brought the deer down,
struggling uselessly. Andromeda gave it a killing bite and stood,
shaking her fur. "Nicely done,, she said.
Andromeda laughed, " I figured you would be quicker on the
draw," she said. "Besides, now I'll do all the heavy
lifting." she said, gripping the deer on the back of its neck
and hoisting it up out of the snow. She began dragging the deer
back towards the cave where the others remained.
"Woah," Lucia lifted her head and flicked her ears in
surprise. "You caught a deer? Congrats you two." She grinned
before yawning and resting her head on her paws again.
Andromeda let the deer's body down near the entrance of the cave, "
Just took a bit of teamwork," Andromeda said, giving a grin
to Kanti. "Everyone dig in, it's better than candy, I
promise," she said, taking a bite.
"That's fair," Kanti muttered to the whole 'quick on the
draw' thing. She shot a grin back to Andromeda and swished her
tail. "Couldn't have been a cleaner catch."
After eating her fill, Andromeda stood back to leave the rest for
the others. She slowly walked to where Kat sat. "Where do we go
from here?", she asked the tiger. "I haven't seen another
one of those flowers in this part of the forest, yet," she
added.
