"How would you carry both of us?" Jason tilted his head to get a better angle to kiss him. "If you'd like to and it won't tire you out too much, go for it."

Cassie nodded and shifted back to her human shape, smiling up at him. "We don't live long enough to lose ourselves to hatred." She glanced over at Octavius and Jason who were getting ahead of them. "Could I offer you a ride? I really liked doing that."

"I can use the earth. It won't tire me out too much," Octavius said, curling closer still as he created a soft pile of sand for Jay to sit on.

"I would be honored. I love seeing you happy and must confess I highly enjoy riding with you," Max told her.

"Alright," Jason sat down carefully so as to not jostle Octavius too much.

"Then would you indulge the both of us?" Cassie shifted fully and gently bumped him with her shoulder waiting for him to get on.

Octavius kissed him again, snuggling in. He felt safe. "...when I was five, I was given to a man who traded me to another king as a sign of good faith and a barrel of wine...when from there, I was trained to be obedient and punishment was harsh if I didn't comply..."

Max grinned, getting onto her back. "Run, beautiful. Be free."

Jason's grip tightened around Octavius. "You never have to worry about punishment ever again," He whispered softly. He meant it and would make sure no one ever tried to put him through that.

Cassie made a small huffing sound before she trotted up alongside Jason and Octavius smiling and wagging her tail before taking off running full speed.

"I believe you. I trust you. More then anyone. You have never beaten me. Many have had me beaten...to show me who I am and my rank...but you touch me like this? Softly, kindly...I love you..." Octavius whispered, watching Cassie run.

Max roared with laughter, loving the pace she set. He bent low over her back, whispering encouragement.

"I will continue doing just that, for as long as you'll let me." Jason whispered in return before he started whispering about how much he loved him, and about how he'd never let go if he could.

Cassie veered off the path and dodged between the trees and over fallen logs, her steps crunching on dead leaves, and her breath coming in heavy pants.

Octavius nodded, curling into Jay as he took them to the cabin. He listened to Jason, feeling loved and warm. This was his place in life. And he wished nothing more then to stay with him.

Max kept his eye out for anything stray and unwanted. He clung to Cassie's back, feeling her power beneath him.

Jason had his eyes closed and was focusing on the man in his arms, so he didn't even notice when they had arrived at the cabin.

Cassie had brought them out into the orchard and raced between the trees, her pace not slackened at all. She wove her way through them and to the bunker where she finally did slow and then stop. She wanted to check in on the couple and the mother and children. She looked over her shoulder up at him silently asking if she could.

Octavius set them down on the ground, his energy more depleted then he had said. He could still stand and move. Just not fight. But they were safe now. He wasn't going to end this moment. Not with how happy he was.

Max nodded, opening it for her. Inside, the group turned to greet them, relieved it was them.

Jason continued whispering sweet nothings against Octavius' neck, his arms held the man close to him. He didn't want to let go, and wouldn't let go until he absolutely had to.

Cassie walked in and went over to the couple first sniffing to remind herself of their scent and then she went over to the mother and children and sat down. She lifted up onto her haunches and used one of her paws to wave at the two girls.

Vera knew they were out there but left them be, they would come in when their stomachs demanded or the other two came in.

The little girls cried out happily before rushing to hug her. "Cassie!" The older one said softly. "You came back to see us." The younger one simply burried her face against Cassie's side. Max and their mother watched, smiling.

Cassie reached her head down and nuzzled against the two of them, her tail wagging as if to say 'of course' which she would say when she half shifted, but for now, she'd stay more like an overgrown dog.

Cassie slowly half shifted so as to not frighten the girls. "My day was long, and is ending very happily," She gently nudged the girls with her muzzle before scooping them up in her arms. She smiled at their mother as she stood up. "I'm glad to make them happy, but they also make me happy,"

"They are life so I completely agree," she said, grinning as she watched her girls settle in. The younger one was hugging Cassie, looking like she was going to fall asleep right there. The older girl took the opportunity to tell Cassie all about her day, telling her about playing with her sister and running around. What they had for lunch and the book the older gentleman bad read to them was included. Max smiled, unable to help it, Cassie was too cute with them and he hoed she wouls have children one day to look out for and lavish her love upon.

Cassie listened intently to the retelling of the day and when she looked over to the younger girl falling asleep in her arms she sighed, knowing she'd have to give them back. Then she got an idea. She carefully offered the younger girl back to the mother. "If it's alright with you Max, I'd like to sleep here tonight... With the girls..." She glanced to Max then to the mother. "If that'd be alright that is."

"I think that is a great idea. I would be at ease knowing you were safe here tonight.I am sure Vera would protect you in the cabin, and you can look out for yourself. But knowing you all are here together and safe is going to put me at ease," Max said, a smile tugging at his lips as the little girl woke just long enough to murmur a protest of Cassie leaving.

"I would be grateful for you to stay, Cassie. Nights are the worst. I am on edge at every sound," the young woman admitted, holding her little girl. "So Cassie is sleeping here tonight?" The older girl asked excitedly.

"Have you had dinner, Cassie?" The older woman asked, eager to do something for their protector. "There is still some supper left if you'd like it."

Cassie chuckled as she was bombarded with questions. "Yes I'm sleeping here," She said in a very happy tone to the eldest girl, and then shook her head in response to the older woman. "I have not had dinner, and I wouldn't want to take your food." She looked over to Max to ask her own question. "If you think it'd be okay, do you think I could take a rabbit and eat here with them?" She looked over to the mother and nodded. "If anyone did happen to find this place, they wouldn't get very far." She looked to the older girl who was still in her arms. "Cause the big doggie Cassie would chase them away and make sure they'd never come back."

The little girl squealed in delight, throwing her arms around Cassie's neck. "Thank you, Cassie!"

"You and Octavius caught them, Cassie. Of course it will be okay. I can go get it foe you if you'd like. I don't know if you are going to be able to pull the little monkey off your neck," Max chuckled, tickling the girls side. She giggled, wiggling against Cassie and Max.
