"Then give me a list of items you might need and I will personally go get them," Max told her, meeting her gaze as he finished with the bandages. "As for fertilizer, I will explain further who is to be silenced and who is free to go. Woodland creatures who do not shapeshift can just be scared off or hunted at your discretion. Deal?"

"I do, Jason, sir. I don't know how well it was shown but I can feel vibrations in the ground when focused. I can be summoned with a series of foot taps, if needed," Octavius explained.

"I don't need much, food, water, and the occasional replacement of clothing. Though I don't wear any when I'm like this, which is most of the time," Cassie chuckled turning her gaze away as she stood up. "I don't remember the last time I was human if I'm being honest..." She nodded and turned to face him a large clawed hand outstretched to shake and close the deal. "Deal."

"Wait seriously? That's amazing!" Jason grinned. "Oh, I gotta ask if you like sailing and camping? Those are some of my favorite activities, but my father doesn't let me go without a guard..."

Max reached out, taking her hand firmly and without any hesitation. Her claws did not scare him. Nor did her fur. He smiled, shaking firmly. "Then I request to know your name. I am General Maximillian Axilla. But please, call me Max or Maximillian," Max said, giving her a smile.

"I have camped when my masters traveled and sailed when they sailed," Octavius answered, not really understanding. He did not have a preference. He was suppose to do as his masters asked and be happy with it.

Cassie's jowels pulled back a bit showing her canines in a smile. "My name is Cassiopeia. Cassie or Cas for short." She didn't use her full strength since that'd likely break his hand. The fur on her hands was very soft and velvety in stark contrast to the coarser fur on her back.

"Not quite the answer I had meant, I had wanted an answer like you picked your name for what you liked... I was asking which activity you like, if you like to do them." Jason rubbed the back of his head hoping explaining would help.

"Cassiopeia...it's beautiful. Can't say I have ever met someone with that name. I'm glad we have an understanding. Ready to get out of here? We definitely are getting that collar off too. No one is going to be using it against you do you think we can smash that box without it backfiring and doing something to the collar that'd hurt you?" Max asked, quirking his lips up into a half smile.

Octavius blinked, trying to figure out how to fix what he'd done wrong. "I...enjoy being outside. I am closer to the elements. It's calming," he said, speaking honestly.

"I've been ready to get out of here for three years..." Cassie walked over to the door and opened it for Max since he'd left it unlocked. "We could just take the charger out of it since I don't know if it would zap me if broken..." "Unless you'd like to be fried, I wouldn't suggest smashing or removing the battery..." The slaver from before hadn't really left. "The box is set to let off a continuous signal if destroyed..." He smirked, crossing his arms and leaning against an empty cell. "I had a feeling you could talk, but I guess I just didn't try hard enough to actually make you speak..." Cassie snorted. "Or perhaps I never wanted to talk to you... Filthy scum..." The slaver simply laughed off the insult and shook his head. "You might want to keep that box and collar in case she decides to revolt... Even though she's already revolting!" He only laughed harder at his own joke. If Max were to look at Cas' hands, he'd see them clenched so tightly her claws were causing her palms to bleed.

Jason nodded. "That's good to hear, we'll be spending almost as much time inside as out. For every dull meeting I go to I spend at least a day in nature." He heard the laughter and his attention was drawn to his cousin and his new guard.

"Watch your tongue," Max replied coldly. "She's my slave. Her rank is higher then yours. If she chooses to rip you to shreds, well, I'm just going to have to tell everyone how you tried to sneak up and slit my throat. And Cassie, a brave, loyal and regal woman, took out your slimy, no good neck. Wouldn't that be a shame?" he asked, his voice conveying how he felt the opposite. "Cassie? Would you mind holding this box for me?" Max asked, pretending to be above carrying things for the sake of the slaver. "I've got a better use for my hands," he added, pressing the box into her hand while being careful not to set it off. Striding over to the slaver, he decked the man before hauling him into the cell, closing the door and locking it. Stepping back, he admired his handiwork. "What do you guys think? He look better behind bars? I really don't like the way he talks. But that's not our problem anymore, is it?"

Octavius was left speechless, staring at Max like the man had grown a second head. But he kept his mouth shut, not wishing to upset the man. "Nature sounds good," he added, looking over at Jason.

Cassie quickly held the box and held it carefully, the blood dripping onto the floor, she was watching and listening intently as the slaver tried to apologize until he was clocked and fell out cold. Cas' eyes were glued to the man's form in the cell. Then she shook her head and had to bite her tongue to keep from laughing. Unless this was an elaborate act, she was really starting to like this man that owned her. "N-no,not your problem..." Her attempt at refraining from laughing was evident in her voice.

"He really should've been more polite..." Jason sighed and patted his cousin's shoulder. "We should get out of here. Come on Octavius!" He headed out and handed his key off to a guard as they passed.

Max smirked, wishing he got to hear that laughter. Maybe one day. For now, he handed off the key to the man at the front. "There's a rat in her old cell. Make sure it stays there for a few hour. A night if you can manage it," he said, passing the man a couple of coins as well. "For your trouble." Turning, he set off watching Cassie out of the corner of his eye. He wanted to trust her. So badly. But if she ran now, he'd have to track her down, to save face. And he really didn't want to. He wanted to let her just run off. Getting to the orchard would be like freeing her. Eventually, she would be.

Octavius followed, picking up the set of daggers and putting them in his baldric before padding after Jason. He walked just behind and to the man's left. His head was on the swivel, looking for any trouble.

The guard nodded taking both keys he went in to check and his loud laughter echoed out of the cell area. Cassie kept close behind Max, her eyes on the little box in her hand for a while. "Here," She moved up to his side to offer it to him. It had some blood on it though she didn't seem to really notice. She wasn't planning on running. His offer had been very tempting, so she decided to see if it was true. If not she would definitely be running.

Jason had turned his head to talk to Octavius, but not finding him at his side he had to turn further to see him. "What are you doing back there? Come walk beside me..."

Max shook his head. "I'd like you to be in control of it. Show of good faith. Until we can get that stupid, worthless thing off of you. Whoever was stupid enough to put it there, I hope you got them good. Fought hard and gave them hell," Max told her, serious. He frowned at the blood. Not afraid of it, just not liking that it was there. "Are you still bleeding?"

Octavius lengthened his strides, catching up to and walking beside him. "Yes, sir. I was guarding, Jason, sir."

"It took ten of them to hold me down properly for the sedatives, and even after that they had to hold me down. I took one of their arms off I think... It could've been his head, but I don't have a clear memory of that..." Cassie lifted her other hand to inspect the puncture wounds from her own claws. "A bit, yes. When I kept myself from ripping that scum apart I hadn't really realized I was clenching my fists that tight..."

"You can stop saying sir after everything Octavius," Jason chuckled. "I get it that you've been trained to do that, but I don't much care for it."

Max chuckled at the tale, pride gleaming in his eyes before he looked over her hand, frowning. "When it comes to slavers, unless I say don't, if they talk smack about you, you have my full support in giving them a taste of their own medicine. Perhaps not fully killing but maiming is a good thing when it comes to them." Stopping, Max reached for the cape at his shoulders that signified his rank. "Is it both hands or just one?" He asked, fully intending to rip the fabric if need be.

"Yes, Jason," Octavius replied, feeling strange about being so informal but he figured he would get used to it so long as he stayed with Jason. He was different. But maybe in a really good way.

She grinned hearing his comment about maiming. He seemed to be rather strange for a wealthy class. Not caring for the slavers and in fact seeming to care more about her well being than for the clothes on his back. "Both, but..." Cassie trailed off seeing the movement of his hands. "What do you intend to do with that?" Every person that passed her cell would either ignore her, talk about her like an item, or would simply make jokes and rude comments. Did he actually care or was this nothing more than a ruse to get her to trust him?

Jason stopped with his cousin, but seeing him grab his cloak he knew the intentions. "Max," He reached over and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You can't rip that, you know how that will look coming home... We'll be heading straight for the healer, they'll wrap her hands when she gets there." He wasn't suggesting that he didn't wrap her hands, but not using his cape was a good idea.

Max frowned, holding the ridiculous cape. "But her hands, Jason...we can't just leave them like that," Max sighed, looking around for some vendor, for someone selling some sort of fabric.

Octavius took a step forward. "My pants. I can cut off some of the leg, if Jason is okay with that." After all, he was still an item and his master needed to sign off on things, at least in his eyes.

Cassie stood there rather perplexed. Her owner was definitely going to have used his garment to stop her bleeding. Then her cell neighbor offered part of HIS clothes to bandage them. "Really, I'll be okay... You said you were taking me to a healer, so I'll be fine until we're there..."

Jason was about to repeat himself explaining that they weren't too far from home, but he turned when Octavius spoke. "If you'd be willing to that'd be wonderful, we'll be getting you new pants soon anyways." He smiled. "Thank you Octavius,"

Max smiled, nodding as he reattached his cape. Taking the stips of fabric, he carefully wrapped them around Caddies hands. "Okay. We can keep going."

Octavius looked at Jason as he straightened and replaced his dagger. New pants? That was...so luxurious.

Cassie watched Max intently as he wrapped her hands, she huffed slightly as it hurt when he tied it. She stayed by his side as they walked.

Jason noticed the look from Octavius and smiled. "That was very nice of you to offer up part of your pants for her bandages,"

Max continued his longer strides. He was content with things for now. Soon, she would be treated and happy, he hoped.

Octavius shook his head. He was just doing what he should be. He felt like he still owed the woman.

Cassie raised her head to look up at the skies and the vultures circling and riding the thermals above them. She would sometimes dream of being a bird and flying high above the land and seas, free. Free as a bird the saying would go. She wasn't free, but she wasn't in a cell anymore.

Jason shrugged assuming Octavius was used to being used like that, but he planned to be kinder than his past owners.
