"Alright, no feast then. Just whatever you think looks good," Max said, then nodded to Jason's statement. "You're both safe. We're protecting you as much as you protect us."

Octavius leaned into that touch, feeling better. "Thank you."

"Okay," Cassie replied quietly as she walked with them.

"You are very welcome my friend," Jason playfully stuck his tongue out at him again.

Max smiled, turning down the road towards town. They'd get there in a few moments.

Octavius stuck his tongue out, gleefully. At the door of the restaurant Max picked, he opened the door for the other three.

Once they got into the town Cassie moved to follow more behind him, and when he held the door she reached her long arm over and held the door acting like a slave should. Master goes first.

Once in sight of other people Jason stopped playing around and once the door was open he strolled right in.

Max brazenly marched over to the best table, setting himself before nodding for Cassie to take a seat.

Octavius pulled out Jason's chair, waiting for him to sit. He was obedientant to a tee.

Cassie followed him in and once he was seated and motioned for her to sit, she tucked her tail and sat down politely.

Jason didn't even acknowledge Octavius for doing that, even though he wanted to thank him. He motioned to the chair next to him for Octavius to sit.

Max looked over the menu before choosing something he thought Cassie would like. He ordered two of dish, one for himself and one for her. French toast with a side of bacon and a glass of orange juice. "So, what is the plan for the day?" He asked his companions. "Thinking of a hike or going to surf?" The question would seem only asked at Jason, but Max figured his vagueness would make the other two feel included, like he wanted.

Octavius took his seat next to Jason, wondering if he did have something like that suggested. He would be all too happy to go with him on those adventures.

Cassie's mouth was watering from all of the scents of food in the air, but she didn't know what he had ordered, though she trusted him and she knew she'd eat whatever it was. "I would be by your side for either." Her answer showed her interest in either activity, and it showed submission.

Jason ordered a similar thing, but with pancakes. "Hmm, you know me, I'm game for either, but I would suggest surfing as today is going to get quite hot." He glanced to Octavius to see if he'd respond and how.

"Sounds like a really good plan to me. I've got everything done so I'm free. Cassie, that would be great. Both on land and in the water," Max said, flashing her a smile as their food arrived.

"I will stand with you, Sir. And can ensure the waves are to your satisfaction," Octavius said, bowing his head in servitude.

Cassie smiled back, but it fell as she caught sight and smell of their food. When it was set on the table she stared at her plate. Sure the stew last night was the most amazing thing she'd ever tasted, but so far this was the best looking. If she hadn't swallowed she would have been drooling, but she waited until given permission to eat as she knew other people would see it and would have an issue with it, and she didn't want to cause any trouble, so she tried to behave as a slave would.

"Wonderful, surfing it is then!" Jason grinned and clasped his hands as the food arrived. He moved a plate in front of Octavius and bid him eat before he himself took up the fork and knife to start eating his own meal.

Max slid Cassie's in front of her, tapping her hand lightly. "Go ahead," he said dissmisively, his hand on hers to signal he was sorry about that and didn't mean any of the cold cruelness. "Great," Max smiled, planning to go to a private stretch he figured no one knew about.

Octavius was with Cassie. That...that glorious masterpiece was for eating? Looking up at Cassie, he hid his grin but shared his disbelief at the food. Careful to remain polite and respectful, Octavius did as Jason did and cut up his food. The first bite had hi biting his tongue to stop the moan. This was amazing. Absolutely the best thing he has ever had.

Cassie jumped slightly as the touch ripped her from the trance. She nodded and went about eating, mimicking Max and trying to use the utensils. She had to eat slowly since she took longer to work the utensils right.

Jason grinned as he watched Octavius' reaction to the food.

Max smiled, letting her just enjoy. He wished the utensils weren't as hard for her to use, but was glad she was happy. So far, people had left them alone. Stated, but nothing they couldn't handle.

Octavius glanced over at Jason out of the corner of his eye. Hesitently, he knocked his knee against Jason's in silent thanks.

Cassie glanced up at Max and let a smile pull at the corner of her mouth, and before anyone could see it she looked back down to her food.

Jason's smile broadened and gently bumped him back.

A pair of people who looked to be several years older than Max entered the restaurant and as they walked by they paused to stare terribly rudely at Cassie, though they were behind her so she couldn't see them. The male of the couple looked over at Max. "You look to be too young to really grasp the edicate of your class, but dogs shouldn't be allowed to eat at the table..."

"You're right, sir. Perhaps you'd like to take your wife elsewhere. You know what? I'm feeling gracious. Why don't I ask the wonderful wait staff if they would mind clearing a table? Then you both can eat out of bowls on the ground. Unless you'd be more comfortable with a food trough? I won't judge or complain. If it makes you more comfortable, I am willing to overlook it. Most generals like myself wouldn't be as accommodating. I could ask my guard to send you both out. But like I said, you caught me on a good day," Max replied, insinuating they were both pigs in the most charming and polite way he could. Smiling, he waved his hand in a dismissive gesture to let the couple know the conversation was over. If they did continue, he wouldn't hesitate to do as he'd said.

Octavius went still, ready to jump up and defend the group. If they touched Jason...if Jason gave the word, he would act.

Cassie froze as she heard their comment and listened to Max's reply. Then she swallowed and stood up, the chair grunting as it slid back a little, she turned to face them, her hackles raised, and they seemed to have changed from being furious and fuming, to rather frightened. "Before you say anything further..." The male shut his mouth since he was going to make a rude retort. "You'd better understand that by insulting him you have verbally wounded my master... As his guard it is my soul purpose to lay asunder those who would do him harm... He has been kind enough to give you fair warning, so unless you'd like to lose limbs today, I'd be moving to another restaurant." Her voice was deep, just as it had when she had first spoken to Max, and she ended her statement with a snort of air strong enough to move their hair. She cleared her throat and bowed deeply to them. "If you'd excuse me, I have a meal to return to." She turned back around and sat down in her chair, reaching a hand back to brush down her fur. "My apologies, master..." The two stood there dumbfounded for a moment before leaving very swiftly, their faces bright red.

Jason had raised his eyebrows having never really seen his cousin angry, let alone so angry that he'd be pleasant about it. Once they'd left he grinned. "Well said," He chuckled, though it could be taken that he was complimenting his cousin.

"If they wish to make nuisances of themselves and attack people, they can deal with the consequences. You did well, Cassie," Max praised lightly, more for show then to actually praise her. He'd let her know more when they returned home. Giving his cousin a smile, only Max's eyes betrayed that he felt a bit guilty Jason had to see that. He couldn't help it. He wanted to protect Cassie more then anyone he'd met. It confused him as she was probably the one who needed it least.

Octavius had glared at the couple until they left. Relaxing, he returned to his meal.

Cassie bowed her head before returning to eating her meal, but soon she found herself full before having cleared her plate. She was used to being insulted, but having Max be insulted enraged her. Hearing his calm dismissal of those people allowed her the patience to deal with them as she did.

Jason nodded and eventually finished his plate. "Max, can I get the bill?"

"Beat me to it. I was hoping to get it but...I had it last time, didn't I?" Max asked with a chuckle. "I was hoping you'd forget and I could sneak in and get it. If you'd like to, sure." Then, speaking low enough others wouldn't hear but Cassie would with her hearing, Max asked, "Would you like a box? We can reheat it and you can have it for tomorrows breakfast or later today if you want it. Of course, we can make some at home but if you would like to finish this later, I'll get a box for it."

Octavius finished his meal, looking satisfied with thing. He gave Cassie a small smile. Not enough to warrant attention from others but enough to show how happy he was with the group.
