It unlocks a room with an artifact in
it, but you can't take it because the annoying dog appears in your
inventory. When you let it out, it takes the artifact and leaves
dog residue in your inventory.
Edit: Well, I explained the whole thing.....
And I'd love to cosplay as Toriel probably, but I have no money for a costume.

Gaster was 'erased' when he fell into
a machine he was making and the machine is unfixable so he cannot
be saved. He was supposedly the scientist before alphys and If you
play around with the fun values in the game files you can unlock
secret rooms where he may appear but you can't do much with him
besides figure out his story

I find it really cool that Gaster is
only available in secrets, and seems to be based entirely on cut
content, because I've always been a sucker for beta content in
games.
And yeah, he was the scientist before Alphys. I also read that he was the one that created the Core.

sans and papyrus may be related to
gaster. Sans is probably closer to him than papyrus though because
his weapons are called gasterblasters
However some people are unsure if the blasters belonged to gaster or were created to be used against gaster
I mean he was making a dangerous machine that he ended up falling into and the machine totally erased him. Who's to say he wasn't trying to erase the world and those weapons were created to stop him? After all sans DOES try to stop you from erasing everthing, not just because you killed everyone.
Also sans doesn't die when you 'kill' him in genocide apparently, your kill count doesn't go up

What is Flowey's reflection when he
looks at water/mirror ? Does the reflection is Asriel or Flowey
himself?
