I'm so upset.... The Amazon freaking RAINFOREST has been on fire for *17 days* and NOBODY has heard about it until now! You know why it's so bad? Because of continued deforestation of possibly THE most important ecosystem on the planet (barring the ocean) - all of which should be protected land, BTW. Euuaaghhh *facedesk* I feel like the world is ending all around us, and nobody cares... and those that do care, can't get the people who can make a difference... actually bother to make the difference! It's not aliens coming from out of nowhere to destroy all humans, it's the loss of the entire freaking planet and the death of billions in increasingly horrible and dangerous ways... and somehow, that's not galvanizing enough?? I can't help but feel so hopeless :(
