I'm pretty new, would like to start hunting my own shinys, how or where do I start?

Hey there!
Most users shiny-hunt by breeding. I am unsure if this feature is level locked, but as long as you have 2 pokemon of the same species, 150,000 pokedollars to buy the pokeradar (in the shop), and the nursery unlocked, you can start a chain through the pokeradar and start hatching eggs.
It’s time intensive, unfortunately. You can also try your luck at the mystery trade- maybe someone will drop a random shiny :)

yeah it seems tough to get shinies in this but worth it!

You can also get shinies by fishing.

As a new user I can confirm that the PokeRadar is available to buy for me and not level locked
You can get it from Emera Mall at Item Shop from Misc. Items tab

There are a lot of ways to get shinies.
The most prominent one is thru repeatedly hatching a pokemon of the same species while ur pokeradar is active.
Another common way is by fishing and thru honeytree.
U can also get a shiny retro by playing the concentration game.
Shinies can also appear while playing the safari game.

There are also other places where u can get a guaranteed shiny.
The scs shops, game center, emera square, berrygarden, royal tunnel to name a few.

Hatching most eggs will also give u a very small chance of being shiny.
Retro eggs all have 2% chance of being shiny (except the funfair retros which is 5%).
