I saw someone previously asked this, but that was back in 2024 and they never actually got an answer. I have a cyndaquil who's in my party and currently level 52. It hasn't evolved. Not sure what I'm doing wrong? I see the guides and posts telling you how to evolve pokemon that require items, trading, friendship, stones, etc, but not basic pokemon that you level up and evolve. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

Is it “busy”? If your Pokemon is busy (in daycare, rumbling, on auction house/ Gts. And others) it won’t evolve.

Nope. I had it do two short rumbles yesterday and it was at level 2, but ever since then it's been in my party doing nothing. Literally just sitting in my party leveling up over time. It's almost to 53.

Is it in your battle team? It seems that if it is it won’t evolve.
(I have a similar thing happening with my honegde that was in my battle team, I took it out of the battle team now)

It is. I'll take it out now and see if that lets it evolve. That's such a weird rule if that's the case. Thanks!

Edit: that worked. That's so weird. I guess now I know I can stick a bunch of pokemon in my battle parties to prevent them from evolving?

I suppose, I managed to fully evolve my honedge now. So I put it back in my battle team.

I'm having the same issue except mine isn't busy at all, is there anything else that could be causing this?

Your starter is a lvl 22 Marshtomp. It evolves into Swampert at lvl 36.
Unless it's a different pokémon that hasn't evolved yet?

Put it out of daycare and level it up.
