Nickname: Serif Pronouns: they/them How long have you been playing PokeHeroes?: literally a day Do you understand and commit to following the rules?: of course! What is your favorite colorguard/winterguard show? Share a link if you'd like!: Probably Blessed Sacrement Winterguard World Class 2024 (Chaos Theory) or Fusion Winterguard World Class 2024 (The Beat). Definitely have more, those are just the ones I can think of right now. Are you currently spinning or teaching?: Yes! I currently spin with a competitive guard and teach with a noncompetitive winterguard and competitive colorguard (marching band). What is your favorite part of guard? (Equipment? Dance? Performing? Shows? Learning? etc): Depends! While at the younger/lower classes, I love blade. While at the A class level, rifle. At the Open class level, flag. And while teaching? All three! OPTIONAL: What teams have you spun with? Have you won or placed high before?: I have spun with a middle/high school marching band that was competitive, and a different winterguard organization. I spun 2 years in the RA class, 5 years in the A class, and 1 year in the Open class, with a 1 year gap between A and Open. I am a two-time world finalist at WGI, and am actively competing in the 2025 WGI season. [Read more] |

What is Colorguard/Winterguard? -Colorguard is the sport of the arts, in which members use a combination of movement (dance, tumbling, interpretive movement, etc) and equipment (flags, sabres, fake rifles, occasionally baton) to perform a themed show, often telling a story. Teams are part of marching bands and drum corps, or are solo teams. -Winterguard is the indoor version of colorguard. This is done without a band or corp, meaning it is just the guard on the floor. Instead of spinning in a parade or on a field, members spin on a tarp, known as a floor, to music played through speakers, usually in a gymnasium or field house. Why have a club? -Colorguard/winterguard is an incredibly special activity that has been steadily growing in popularity and recognition in the past few years. It is literally known as "the Sport of the Arts", as it combines athletics with the performing arts. Anyone of any age can participate, from literal toddlers waving around tiny fake flags barely larger than a ruler to the elderly performing in local circuits. The sports is easily adaptable, allowing anyone to participate. Adaptive guards allow disabled members to perform, and teams often adapt or modify work or shows to allow those with injuries, disabilities, or other similar things to perform just like everyone else. Having a fanclub allows those of us who are fans to get together and chat, and maybe introduce guard to new people! RULES: 1. Respect others. No hate. No bigotry. No racism. ETC. Zero tolerance. 2. No mini-modding. (Basically exactly what it says in the guide to making a club). 3. Follow the PH rules. 4. No shaming or putting down guards, individuals, shows, etc. 5. Be mindful of those who are not comfortable sharing personal details. (If someone says "no" to sharing what guards they've marched/are marching with, respect that!) 6. No doxxing! If you find someone or figure out what group they spun/spin with, do not expose that! 7. No fear! This is a group meant to be built on respect, not one run by fear. You should be free to ask questions or share an opinion. 8. Have fun! NEW MEMBER QUESTIONS: 1. Username: 2. Nickname: 3. Pronouns: 4. How long have you been playing PokeHeroes?: 5. Do you understand and commit to following the rules? 6. What is your favorite colorguard/winterguard show? Share a link if you'd like! 7. Are you currently spinning or teaching? 8. What is your favorite part of guard? (Equipment? Dance? Performing? Shows? Learning? etc) 9. OPTIONAL: What teams have you spun with? Have you won or placed high before? DISCLAIMER: -Internet safety is important!!! Please be mindful of sharing personal information! Things like your real name, your age, where you are going/went to school, location-based teams you are/were part of, etc. are PRIVATE. If you are a minor, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you do NOT share this information! If you are an adult (18+) that is up to your personal discretion, however I still recommend being mindful! Please be careful out there! You NEVER know who you are speaking to or interacting with (obviously unless you literally know them in person prior to playing or making an account). I do NOT condone minors sharing personal information! -If you would like to share but are being cautious, vague statements are okay! Ex: "I am currently spinning in X class in WGI" instead of "I am on Team X in X Class". "I performed at X class world finals in the past few years" instead of "My team got X place at WGI X class finals in year xxxx". EVENTS: -If people actually join this club, I plan on posting links to streams for WGI finals in April! p.s. I have no idea how to use BB-codes or photos or banners. That's a future thing. Sorry! I think my biggest piece of advice is to just be you. Be proud of you, even if you don't yet know who you are fully. That's okay! It's okay to not be sure, or to realize you aren't what you thought you are. It's okay to not fit stereotypes or the "normal" for a gender identity, or a sexual or romantic orientation. It's okay to just say "I don't know". Don't listen to the people who are being rude and bigoted. Sometimes it's hate, and sometimes they genuinely don't understand or are afraid of new things. Just be you. And it's okay to ask for help, or to ask questions, just be mindful of how you ask. If you're confused, or don't understand, that's okay! Honestly, I don't listen to a lot of "regular" music, let alone queer music. I listen to a lot of video game and anime soundtracks lol. [Read more] |
