The Easter event has ended and I'm sure many of us have realised that the only resemblance this has to an Easter Egg hunt is finding an object, in this case, ghimmigoul. This event is as 'Easter-ish' as the hoopa quest, so clearly it needs to be changed.

The event itself is fine, I like the idea of hatching eggs for items. In fact, it can even be incorporated into other events like Halloween where you hatche eggs for sweets. But, as I said earlier it is hardly an Easter event. So, I feel this event can stay, but will be an entirely new event. Like a yearly event distribution or something similar.

Note: Any strikeouts like this means that the suggestion/part of the suggestion was removed.

As for Easter, Riako said that the problem he wanted to address was:
1. Many players used site maps, and
2. Were able to complete the event within a day.

The second problem Riako was seen to well, but the first not so much.

So what I propose, is instead of the Easter egg hunt taking place on the various pages on the site, it could be something similar to the funfair corn maze minigame. A player can also only find 1-2 eggs daily, with the map resetting every day.

Sitemaps can't be used in this situation, and one-two eggs a day solves the second problem.

For the sake of my sanity and others who don't have the time, a little mini map could be displayed somewhere on the page, blank at first, revealing itself the further you go into the 'maze'.

Some mechanics will be like the corn maze, like the arrows and the general shape of the maze. Easter eggs will be shown when you reach a tile with an egg (similar to finding a Pokeball in the corn maze). However, to make it harder, the egg could be displayed anywhere on the minigame display box and is half the size.

Of course, the background will be different, up to the PH team to decide. This also brings back egg design competitions, which I'm pretty sure happened in previous Easter events. This also solves another problem, which is that the event can be accessed by anyone, regardless of their trainer level (trainer level 15 was required for previous events).

Egg spots will be random for everyone, so that people do not tell others where eggs are hidden. The maps will be the same for everyone (shape, size etc).

Another problem solved is the fact that Easter eggs/ghimmigoul could be found in obscure places like Bag Value or Past year events.

As for prizes it would be similar to previous years, finding more eggs gets you a new event a higher chance of getting the shiny event, and finding a lower number of eggs within a certain range gives you a past event egg. will lower your chance being shiny.

Alternatively, finding all eggs may give you 2 new events (more work for the team muahaha) and finding a lower number of eggs within a range will only give you one of your choice, similar to the Advent Calendar.

Quote from An addition on 15/10/2024The problem I, and I think other players want to address, is:
1. The event hardly resembled an Easter egg hunt, and
2. The unfairness in the Pokémon given to each user to hatch.

There are no eggs to hatch, so the second problem is solved. The suggested event makes the Easter event more of an Easter egg hunt than any other event (in my opinion), since the background should resemble something like a place where these hunts take place irl (House, shopping mall, etc).

Suggestions from others

None so far!

I was in two easter events, one of which I finished in around 3 days without using a site map.

The new event completly lacked the easter theme — not only was it kind if boring in my opinion, instead of introducing a new event Pokemon (I get it — sometimes Rakio doesn’t have time for new events), a new event only regular Pokemon was introduced.

I always disliked the fact that PH locked some mons behind once-in-a-year events (Mew, Zeraora, Shaymin…), but I’m not sure if the Pokemon like Paradox Donphans or Gimmighoul from this event will be re-distributed again… or if they will count towards dex.

Though this is not my only problem with the new event. I just really didn’t like how Gimmicoin were obtained, and I generally found this unfair for some users who got to hatch eggs with more EHP than others for this. I just gave up myself.

While the previous event was exploitable through site maps, so was this one, the only difference being the fact you could get a max of one Gimmighoul egg per day. It wasn’t very exciting or fun, the event just didn’t feel easter-y.

I really like the ideas you suggested, but I’d also like to see the egg locations being randomized everyday, so people can’t just spoil each other where they are. While this could be a bit unfair for people who got them in harder locations, I still think it’s less of a task to check some more hidden pages than to wait additional 7 hours for your 10k eggs to get enough interactions.

Full support.

I think that site maps can be used because of the fact that some people may not know of certain places like the fountain, espacially beginners.

As much as I'd want this to be implemented, most of the userbase won't have the time to go searching for all of them, and if it does get implemented, people are just gonna end up making maps for the mazes too, cuz afaik the corn maze minigame wasn't fully random, and there was also a noticeable pattern too.

Would it be better if it was changed to getting all eggs would give a higher shiny chance instead?

I feel maps are inevitable, it is a hunt after all. There is a minimap too. The difference between a minimap and a site map is the minimap makes it feel like you are in (for example) a house, and you can look around you like you can irl. A site map is more like teleporting around. Also the minimap should make it such that you shouldn't really need a physical map.

Not sure if I addressed what you meant
