There's probably another post on this somewhere but I couldn't find it. Is there any sort of logic to the egg patterns? (The basic ones not like the fancy legendary or event eggs) Or are they basically just random just to have some variation?

The normal ones like the ones with heart shapes are random, but patterns can be events, legendaries or retros.
