We've implemented the Anniversary Gift instead (which everyone receives after being a member for 1 year) because we thought that distributing a birthday gift might be slightly unfair. Users who's birthday is right after their registration get their special Adoptable immediatelly, whereas users who signed up a few days after their birthday have to have almost a year.
