Based on a fun board game :)

𝕴𝖓 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖈𝖔𝖓𝖘𝖙𝖆𝖓𝖙 𝖘𝖙𝖗𝖚𝖌𝖌𝖑𝖊 𝖇𝖊𝖙𝖜𝖊𝖊𝖓 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝕾𝖍𝖆𝖉𝖔𝖜𝖘 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝕾𝖍𝖆𝖉𝖔𝖜-𝕳𝖚𝖓𝖙𝖊𝖗𝖘, 𝖜𝖍𝖊𝖗𝖊 𝖉𝖔 𝖞𝖔𝖚 𝖘𝖙𝖆𝖓𝖉?

After the powers appeared, it became known that they did not affect everyone in the same way.
Some turned to the "dark", some to the so-called "light", and others are caught in the crossfire.

The Shadows, the creatures of the night, took to the dark, still in hiding; hunted for their astonishing power. Since their numbers are few, they hide among the mortals, sneaking attacks at every opportunity.
The Hunters, children of the light, seek to purge the earth of these greedy creatures, using their superior powers for their own selfish gains.
The Neutrals, independent entities, are caught in the crossfire. They seek to remain free, not bound to either organization, but of course, that can always change.

Not everything is as it seems. Disguised as mortals and neutrals, these opposing organizations often infiltrate eachother. Never be sure of what side someone is until you seek the truth; if you are blessed with a drop of a hermit's wisdom.

The RP has now started!

Okay, right around...here. Perfect
The Hermit's Cabin in the Enchanted Forest had come into view. According to her Clairvoyance, there should be a boy named Keirce inside. The powerful Hermit would be out collecting herbs. Not that it mattered, anyway. She didn't need wisdom or least of all, the future told. Boy, did she have enough of that already.

Adelaide Menace, the most powerful --- and most insane --- prophet on the planet was wandering through The Enchanted Forest, in search of a place from a vision. The vision simply showed her meeting a boy that would apparently stick beside her for a while. She hoped he'd be fun.

The door to the secret Hermit's Cabin swung open.

This should be good.

The clearly startled boy came to check out the noise with a shocked expression. Adelaide simply tilted her head to the side, let out a maniacal cackle, and glared at him. She was hit with an odd sense of familiarity at the sight of his face, as if they'd met before she lost her memory. Maybe they had. Even of they had she'd be unrecognizable by now, so Adelaide shrugged it off. She would probably never know.

Finally, after escaping her spiraling thoughts, Adelaide finally let out a quiet, eerie mumble,

"Hello Keirce."

It was morning. The crisp air combined with the sound of Kieran's boots on the grass lined with morning dew all gave off a very quiet atmosphere. In his right hand, he held a small basket filled with jams, bread, mushrooms, and some rare gems that Kierce had found. And in his left, a torch. He lay the basket on the doorstep of a small cabin. It was too early for the old hermit to be awake. He smiled fondly at the thought of the hermit.

A few days ago, he had led a small group over to the hermit and had seen them off safely. He always sent groups to this certain cabin. There were other cabins that weren't exactly nearby, but he had seen them before, and he knew that people lived in them, but they never reached out to him, so he didn't call to them. The only times he could see those people was when they would try to find the Hermit. There was a small girl that he had spotted once. Nice, kind girl. He hadn't seen her since. Oh well, too bad. He put out the torch, he could see now.

He climbed onto a tree and began to move branch-to-branch, gaining altitude. He sat on the highest branch that could support his weight and looked out. He could barely see the sun rising, but there was enough light to make out the shapes of birds waking.

Recently, he had been thinking about that girl. It was odd. She was the youngest person he had seen in the forest. She might know more things about the war that was happening. Kierce knew about the war, he just didn't understand why it was happening.

As he peered into the distance, he spotted the mountains where he could usually find people, as there was an abandoned mineshaft that travelers normally stayed in.

In a few minutes, he was on a tree that was quite close to the tunnel. It was in the line of sight, but he hoped that if anyone was awake, they wouldn't see him.

No one.

He returned to the Hermit's Cabin and went inside to cook the hermit a breakfast.

He checked the door out of habit and saw a shadow against the door. He opened the door cautiously and almost had a heart attack. He almost didn't recognize her at first as well.

"Hello Kierce."

The girl.

Hm. I wonder why he isn't talking. Maybe he's in shock., Adelaide speculated.

Her vision only showed her how to find the enchanted cabin and the boy inside, along with some clips further in the future. It hadn't shown their conversation, so she honestly didn't know how he'd react to her. Something amusing, she hoped.

"Well, aren't you going to say anything? It's rude to ignore a guest, you know."

Adelaide giggled. This shocked reaction was good enough. She invited herself in and waltzed over to the table, plopping down in an empty chair, not bothering to close the door behind her.

I came here as per my vision, but while I'm here, the Hermit might be of some use after all. Maybe his powers are similar to my Clairvoyance.

She's been trying to understand how her power worked for years. Who knows, maybe she understood it at one point but forgot all about her findings. You could never be too sure.

Kierce stayed quiet. He loved talking to other people, but just something about this girl was... unsettling to say the least. The Hermit had gone out to collect herbs after Kierce had given him the food, so at least he was going to be safe if anything happened.

He was still at the doorway, frozen in confusion. He snapped out of his daze and quickly shut the door before any bugs could get in. He turned around slowly to face the strange girl. Yes. She's different. The girl he had seen had long hair and a comfortable smile. Her bangs swept across on of her eyes and her uncovered eye glittered with youth.

Now the only thing that her eyes emanated was corruption, her right eye especially. Her hair was cut short and her smile seemed sinister. His fight or flight reflexes were urging him to grab a knife and lunge forward. He took a deep breath and neatly sat across from the girl. He stared at her quietly for a minute or two and then he took a breath as if he were about to say something.

"If you are looking for the Hermit, he is out collecting herbs. If you are willing to wait for him, please help yourself to some tea. If you are not willing to wait, you may come with me to find him."

His hands were neatly folded across his lap, away from sight. He was holding his hands down. using all his willpower to keep from grabbing one of his daggers and attacking. She felt dangerous.

Adelaide chuckled. "I'm not here for the Hermit." she stated. "I'm here for you, Keirce." the girl then added with a sly grin.

To be honest, she wasn't really sure why she was here. Adelaide had seen this place in a vision, and possibly when she was younger, but nothing else. She came because she was bored and had nothing to do.

Adelaide couldn't shake this feeling of familiarity no matter how hard she tried. It was a different feeling from when she saw things go the same way as a vision. No, this was different. No matter how hard she tried to remember, none of the fog in her head cleared up. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. She broke out of her thoughts and forced herself to focus on his eyes.

"Have we met before?"

Kierce's neck snapped up quickly. What?

The whole situation was so many layers of confusing. How did she know his name and why did she need him for... whatever she was planning? And then there was the question.

"Have we met before?"

He took a deep breath, doubt brewing in his stomach, a blood-curdling feeling. Should he lie? Tell the truth? Is it moral to help her? His finger tapped frantically against the table as he leaned against his arm, thinking.

"Ah. I would be lying if I said I've never seen you before. And I would also be lying if I said you've never seen me before. But for the last statement, I also feel like I'm not telling the truth if I say that."

"Now- I don't want to know whatever it is that you mean by asking if we've met before, but we have. That is the simplest answer. I believe you came to this cabin when you were younger. You were acting panicked, almost. You seemed scared. That was three years ago. You stayed in this cabin for a while so you could calm down and organize your thoughts."

He took another deep breath, pacing himself.

"I've answered your question, now answer my questions. One, how do you know my name? Two, why do you need me?"

"Oooohhhh. Okay. So we met when I was sane. Interesting. Interesting. Hm. Okay."

So that explains why he feels so familiar. But that means nothing. The only thing that girl he met and the girl in front of him share are a few hazy memories. She's a different person.

Adelaide was spiraling again. Suddenly, she remembered his questions.

"Oh, I heard myself saying your name in the future." She answered after a pause, enjoying the fact that this would bring him even more confusion.

She dodged his second question, because that was what she wanted to know herself. They were probably destined to meet again by fate or something. She also kept seeing him in visions, along with a few others. Now that she had found one of them, it would be nice to find the others. Maybe one of them could restore her memories. She didn't quite want to be 'fixed', per say, but it would probably be beneficial for Adelaide to know more about herself.

"Say, what was I like when we first met?"

_______________________________________________________________

Just then, the old Hermit walked through the door, not giving Keirce a chance to answer Adelaide's question. He seemed unfazed by Adelaide's presence.

"Hello, you two," the old man calmly greeted them, "Adelaide, would you care for some tea?"

Her head whipped around to the old man as a million questions ran through herr head.

How did he know my name? Is it the same way I knew Keirce's? Or did I mention it when I stayed with them years ago? How is he so calm? Did he forsee my arrivall? Is his Clairvoyance stronger than mine? Can he help me?

"Whoah, whoah, whoah, calm down Adelaide. Slow down." He said, despite no words being uttered since he arrived. He prepared and poured everyone a cup of tea and gave them a warm smile, sitting down at the table.

His words didn't help the tornado of thoughts in her head, but the tea did. Now the whirlwinds calmed down a little bit into almost a low hum at the back of her mind. One clearer thought stood out.

He's reading my mind. What are the limits of his powers?

Kierce nodded towards the Hermit. Normally when the Hermit had a guest, he was told to get out. He gave a nod to the girl and stepped out of the cabin, taking an empty basket with him. It was getting windy, the trees were bending to the gusts and you could just barely hear the sounds of the wind sobbing.

It was a rare occurrence, Kierce getting to talk to one of the visitors. He glanced back at the cabin, watching magic slowly envelope it and hide it from sight. He shook his head and left to get wood and berries. And maybe more tea. The tea that the girl was drinking was the last bit of tea leaves he had found. Soon, thoughts of the girl floated out of his head, swiftly replaced by lists and lists of things he needed to find.

Soon, he was hanging from a branch, cautiously grabbing honey from a beehive, praying that no one would come and startle him, lest he knock the beehive down and get stung.

The mood insantly became more somber.

The old Hermit took a slow sip of his tea. "You're blessed, Adelaide, but unfortunately, your blessing comes with a curse."
She looked at him confused. The curse she definitely understood; her visions ruined her mind.

Obviously, old man. I'm insane, have no memories, and my mind is a mess. And where's the blessing?
Adelaide said all this in her mind, forgetting he could hear her blunt thoughts.

His gaze softened. "You're a prophet, dear. It's incredible." he continued, "Soon you'll be able to soar in those whirlwinds going on inside your head. Whether it be prophecies or anticpating an opponent's moves, you have an undeniable gift , Adele."

She still wasn't convinced. "So what? I'm still insane. I'm barely functional."

He smiled. "In an insane world, it is the sane who are called mad. You know, most people come to me seeking the truht of a glimpse of the future. I think you need the opposite." His hand spun and in it apeared a glowing white orb.

"Huh?" Adelaide reached out and touched it. "What's this supposed to-"

A girl's sweet laugh echoed throughout the clearing.
"Come on Adele! Let me show you how to forage!" came the voice of a boy. Keirce soon came into view, exctedly pulling a girl by the hand. She had the same blue hair as Adelaide, but something about her seemed different.

Adelaide sat horrified in a nearby tree. "Is...is that me?" she whispered to no one. A tear ran down her face. "She's beautiful. She's...normal."

It was true, the girl had radiant blue eyes and an air of innocence. Her rosy cheeks blushed as Keirce held her hand. Adele's long blue hair waved in the breeze.

With a flash before her eyes, Adelaide was back in the present. The Hermit was still sitting across from her.
"Who...was that?" She asked, already knowing the answer.
The Hermit simply tilted his head and smiled at her knowingly.
"Why did you show me this?"
"That's for you to find out."
Adelaide let out a frustrated sigh.
"I want you to stop it." The Hermit said obscurely.
"Stop what?"
"The Shadow Hunter Conflict. We can't have any more people dying. Especially not The Gifted like us. There are a few chosen others. Find them. The future will guide you."

"Keirce!" Adelaide called into the woods.
Just how far could he have gone?
"Keirce!" She called again. Finally, she spotted him. "Alright, come on, let's go." Adelaide said to him, without explaining any further.

A Shadow was hiding near the Graveyard. It's name was Sobble, he yearns for nighttime. Daylight was never a thing for him. "Dude! I'm so bored." Sobble's hand hopelessly moves around until he finds his blue mushroom.

"Finally! I've found my blue mushroom buddy. Hey there, you want some bush leaves?" Sobble pretends to feed the mushroom, with the bush shaking in the wind. "The wind is going crazy here." Sobble puts the small leaf onto the mushroom. The vibrant blue mushroom doesn't react. Sobble then pets the mushroom as if it was one of his own.

Sobble then hears the noise of some sort of paper. He pokes his head out of the bush and finds the piece of paper next to him. Curious, he picks it up and opens up the crumpled piece of paper. It has bright crayon writing that was red, Sobble can make out the words: Go to Church. It had a map under the words written.

"Finally! Somewhere I can go, guess we'll set out at nighttime.

Kierce flinched and dropped his jar of honey. He watched, dismayed as the glass jar of honey shattered on the floor. He sighed and hung from the branch by his legs and stared at the girl upside down.

"First of all, be more careful next time you decide to talk to me while I'm working. Second of all, I'm not going with you without proper explanation. This is my home and I've learned to adapt to this environment only. Third of all, I don't even know your name, I'm a bit freaked out, to be honest, knowing that you know my name and I only have a little bit of recognition of you. If you've told me your name before, I must have forgotten it."

He did a neat flip of the branch and landed almost flawlessly on the ground.

"I have a goal and I'm not willing to do free labor while losing my dreams and aspirations."

“Too bad. You’re coming with me. For some stupid reason, The Fates decided that you’re chosen too, so deal with it. Whatever aspirations or whatnot you have are going to be put on hold for a while.” She explained.

To be honest, Adelaide wasn’t sure what she had to do for The Fates to leave her alone. She just wanted to get rid of this curse. The Shadow-Hunter War didn’t really affect her, to be honest. Adelaide didn’t even know too much about it. But apparently, because of some stupid fate that was out of her hands, she and a few others had to stop the conflict.

“Look, apparently we need to stop the Shadow-Hunter War or something. Or at least that’s what the old Hermit says. So you’d better get ready, because the next person we’re picking up is at the cemetery, a day’s hike.”

"I wonder what the Church looks like, I hope it's just not some generic church. Like, that's just boring but to be fair it would make sense." Sobble looks outside the bush, nothing has changed. The gravestones show names of people, the writing is written in cursive.

"I want to read what is on those gravestones but I'm not going to bother. Cursive is almost impossible to read, just write normally for goodness sake. Besides it takes less effort to write regularly than to write cursive in my opinion.
