a normal day.
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Private RP → a normal day.Snarls and screams were coming from the floor below them. XuanJi beckoned to Jing Yu, “it won’t be long before they reach this floor. We need to either kill them all with the other normal pupils, or run away. We can’t hold off so many just by locking ourselves in a classroom.” Their situation was dire, there wasn’t any know whether or no the other parts of the area were infected with zombies too. They had to be careful and tread lightly.
"Haah.. I should've just sacrificed my perfect attendance and play hookie today.. at least then, I could preserve my life at the very least!" Jing Yu complained, trying his best to not let the anxiety show on his face.
To tell you the truth, he was afraid. Very Afraid.
He was very afraid to die, to die without even achieving even one of his life-long goals. He wondered how Yu Xuanji doesn't seem to be afraid of the looming threat at all. If only he was just slightly stronger, slightly smarter, just slightly.. more improved.
Would he be able to tread forward without hesitation as well?
Jing Yu gave himself a self-depreciating smile. Now was not the time to wallow himself in self-misery. The only thing that'll do was bringing a burden upon their back.
He gripped his yardstick tighter, veins almost popping with how tight he is holding on. The end of the stairway was in sight, as the innocent blue sky was entering their view. The sounds of growls, and yelping screams was now becoming more clearer than ever.
"...Are you afraid Xiao Yu?"
Jing Yu chuckled depressingly.
"I am."
In truth, XuanJi honestly wasn’t afraid of death, her views on life were about what happened when you die. She has always been interested in that sort of stuff. XuanJi believes not in rumours, but in the truth, facts and things she sees with her own eyes, which makes her resistant to the fear of death.
XuanJi wasn’t your normal quiet kid, she of course, was quiet most of the time, but whenever she zoned out, she would be imagining the plan of some building’s plan, or martial parts movements when in combat. This type of ‘living through your thoughts and imaginations’ was kind of what XuanJi lived her life on.
The empty street was what XuanJi saw below her first. She crept down a metal staircase that took them from the third floor to the normal, dirt ground. “Hurry.” She muttered at Jing Yu. There was no sound or noise from Anywhere, it felt as if the school was isolated and not even a single thing could be heard. That itself, was eerie.
Through the alleyway, 3 turns… XuanJi reminded herself in her head. There were still other students to get out of the school. Maybe the zombies had already reached the third floor, after all, they needed to hurry, maybe, when they were outside right now, to find a safe house to all evacuate to. XuanJi furiously thought of a plan as she walked ahead, oblivious of the scattered bodies on the ground
Already in a better mood than previously, Jing Yu chuckled and swung his free arm over Yu Xuanji's shoulder.
"Alrighty alrighty! Can't ya pity this poor soul even a lil bit? You do know that if one of us dies, the other doesn't have much chance of surviving either ya'know?" It is unsure whether being back to normal was a good thing for Yu Xuanji's ears though. As she may develop hearing problems later in her elderly life due to a certain goldfish's rambling.
But as the heavens say, good things never last for long. Since as they traverse though the narrow alleyway, it was made clear that they weren't the only people who thought of going to the store near the school, as headless bloodied corpses were found near the ground.
Jing Yu covered his mouth and fought back against the urge to gag. He tried to hypnotize himself that this was just video game, and the bodies weren't real. But.. it was.
The metallic bloody stench in the air was incredibly real, as it stung his nose. Even when Jing Yu accidently tripped on an outstretch hand, he could feel the warmth of a living human still permitting though the skin. But the sight of no head brought him back to the dark and bitter reality that there was no way that these bodies had any chances of being alive. Not even zombies.
It was only now, did Jing Yu understood how grave the situation was. Before he didn't take the situation as seriously as he did now. But now it was different, it was his first encounter with a dead body. The way his stomach churned and tumbled around made him want to vomit and gag on the spot. He thought he had seen all the horrors there was to it, but unfortunately, things aren't at it's worse yet.
As right there was a sound of groaning infront of them, with soft steps and saliva slowly dripping on the floor. WIth it's back arched and a dull, yet addicted gaze, the student, no, the zombie (Jing Yu instinctively knew) slowly stepped toward them.
Infront of them was their first ever zombie they have ever seen in the flesh.
XuanJi raised her uh, ‘weapon’ and pointed it at the zombie.
"Well.. um, that was abit more underwhelming than I had actually thought." To be honest, Jing Yu honestly thought that the infamous zombies would be.. a tad bit uh, scarier? What was in front of them right now honestly looks more like a human who hasn't at ein 10 days with slightly green skin.
The only thing that really gave him any goosebumps were the eerily dull eyes that had a predatory glint in them. But that wasn't a big problem for him at all. Plus Yu Xuanji isn't really phazed by anything either, so they really both should be fine, unless something even more unexpected will happen to them. (Don't jinx it goldfish.)
"Welp, you think we can get a critical hit on this guy first try?"
Jing Yu let go of Yu Xuanji and swung his makeshift weapon around with a grin, before he took on a basic fighting stance.
Hoho, time to split that zombie bastards head into pieces!
2 against one, not very fair, but this was best move to gauge how strong zombies are. XuanJi held her weapon pointed at the zombie.
Overall, the zombie was slow, but not like the slow your grandparents would have, but more like to was slowing down intentionally. XuanJi already knew that much. With Jing Yu in front of the zombie, and XuanJi behind, there wasn’t much the zombie could do to put up a fight.
This wasn't the first time he and Yu Xuanji had teamed up, if anything, the reason they became 'friends' was because of how well they worked together.
So it was kinda of a pity for the zombie to encounter them. But unfortunately, there were no pity in Jing Yu for the zombie though. Afterall, he can't waste any pity on something that's going to disappear in just a few minutes max.
Without our any further words, Jing Yu swept in with his makeshift weapon, and made a huge cut on the zombies chest. Ofcourse he could've went straight for the neck, but he want to.. stall for a bit.
Just to test somethings hehe.
Going forward with a uppercut before promptly slicing the zombies. Jing Yu couldn't help but shiver at the sensation of slicing human meat for the first time ever.
With mild disgust on his face, Jing Yu punctually swiped the poor zombie's head off, before shaking the blood off his weapon, all the while observing any abnormalities from the zombie.
"I dare you to comeback to life huh." Jing Yu kicked the bloodied torso away from him, grimacing from the strong smell of blood and sweat that floated around in the air.
After stepping carefully and cautiously over the zombie’s body parts, she started walking normally.
