How naive of her, when in reality, she is the actual stuck up one.
Elehah rolled his eyes secretly, he should remain patient and not blow off steam on a young girl. That would extremely immature of him.
Instead Elehah watched the scene infront of him with an interesting tilt of his head. "Pardon me, I'm new to this part of the city, thus I'm not all familiar with the situation here." Though Elehah sounded like he was apologizing, perhaps it was just his tone, or blunt expression, he didn't really seem to blame himself.
But seeing how experienced the Royal Guard was, Elehah made a mental note to respect the guy further in the future.
Okami shielded her eyes from the sun as she stalked up to the place, cross-checking the address for the fourth time that morning. She was late, very late, but they didn't need to know that, now did they? With her tail and ears tucked away under her clock, she crept in through the back door and stood in the dark back corner, closing her eyes so they did not reflect the light.
"Pardon me, I'm new to this part of the city, thus I'm not all familiar with the situation here."
A smile crept into her face, unbidden. The man's tone was a complete contrast to the statement, and it felt good to hear some sort of sarcasm for once. All she has heard for the last few days were the screams of the fallen.
From his years of doctor's experience, his instinct tells him that what the girl looks like right now, isn't all what's there on the surface.
But as it was none of his business, and he couldn't just straight up ask a stranger their secrets, Elehah decided to put this matter aside, and reil in his curiosity and looked away. If he had a chance to ask in the future, he would. But now.. unfortunately wasn't the time.
It brought a weak smirk to her face though underneath, she felt none of it. After all, they all had a part of them ripped from their soul and no happiness remained.

Was this where she needed to be? She squinted, making out the word bakery. Yeah, no. It was too clean for a tavern anyway. Shirin continued strolling down the main road, an absolutely wicked headache assaulting her brain. Fractured fragments of strange events drifted across her vision like falling snowflakes. She ignored them. If they were important, she'd know.
Finally, she saw a dingy building with a layer of grime covering an old-fashioned sign. Score. She hoped this was the right one... Shirin didn't have any more time to devote to this ridiculousness. She pushed open the door haphazardly, stumbling on the step. Her eyes adjusted to the light (blessed darkness), and she searched the tavern carelessly. In the corner, she could make out a few figures discussing... something.
She grabbed a large tankard of something or other from the counter, and ignoring the annoyed look from the barman, ambled over to the group. She hated the city. Give her the dunes any day. But oh well... Shirin was already here. Might as well try to enjoy the stay and the hijincks that would undoubtedly accompany it.
"Heyyyy. What's the big idea?" She said, narrowing her eyes as she looked around at the rest of the group. A meek one, an angsty one, a cocky one, a quiet conniving one, a suspiciously reluctant one, an ominously trying too hard one, and the general. This should be fun, she thought, blatantly lying to herself.

Evangeline looked at the late arrivals. They've got guts, striding in so late. She sighed. But that's not my business. I'm just here to train. She took another gulp of the drink.

Perhaps, this trip may be more worth it than he had initially thought?
"The entity I've been tracking seems to prefer to hi-jack taller people. Probably reflecting the entity itself. Easier to ease into it, if you know what I mean."
He turned and looked at the newcomers. He nodded respectfully and kept flipping through his notes.
The General, on the other hand smiled at the newcomers.
"Welcome. You're late." His face fell into a serious one at the last remark.

The General glanced down at him.
"Bad blood between you and the suspect?"
Freyr didn't respond. The General sighed and looked at Shirin.
"Do you want to share any notes with us about any entities you've encountered?"

He held up a clock. "Anyway, time to go, let's head out. I'll meet you in the Great Oak. If you don't know what that it, wander around until you see a big Oak tree."
He stepped out of the bar and melted into the crowds.
The image was crystal clear in her mind. Her mother walking down the halls. She turned the corner, and it was an Entity. Walked back into a room, her mom. As if nothing ever happened.
"They don't need to go back to their own forms." Evangeline stated, "Not the stronger ones at least." She added. "Once in a vessel, they can maintain that for about an hour. Then they need to relax their powers and go back to their own form. But they can transform back into a 'human' after that. Among us. You'd never know. They can copy everything to a T. Except personality." She then glanced at Shirin. "As she stated, some of them are highly intelligent. Their mimicry knows no bounds." She looked at her feet. "Oh...and um, they don't have to go back to a human form. An 'anchor', as I call it, can last them a week, I think. In that week you need to kill the entity and free the 'anchor' but...after that... um. They turn back to their human form...and" She winced at the image forming in her mind. The screams. The blood. That awful black goo. "The human body...um...melts away. The human dies. The entity goes on to find a new anchor."

So the general was underestimating her and the rest of them. Stupid on his part, good for her. See, Shirin always found that when the expectations were set low, she could accel. If someone expected an A on a paper, they were disappointed when you got a B. But if they expected a C, that same B is heralded as the product of hard work and miracles.
Shirin closed her eyes. Right, the tree. She had to find the stupid tree. Why was the general sending them on another stupid treasure hunt? Was this his twisted idea of fun, watching them struggle and then pronouncing them late? No matter.
Fractured visions drifted through her mind, the pointy edges stabbing her psyche. It was all so hazy... But then again, the alternative was usually less good. She plucked a vision from the storm, selecting it with care.
Shielding her eyes from the light, a ghostly Shirin left the tavern. She walked through the crowded city, winding through the twists and turns of the streets. She made a few precise course corrections - a left here and a right there - before emerging underneath the boughs of a great oak. The general waited impatiently below...
Future sight had its benefits. By seeing the path she would take in the future, Shirin could see where to go in the present. It was best not to think about it too much - infinite loops like that could drive a person mad.
"Welp. Against my better judgement, I'm heading to that tree. Anyone else going?" She stood to go, brushing nonexistent dirt off of her cloak. She downed the last of the tankard, and slammed it on the table. Adjusting her rickety bow, Shirin raised an eyebrow at her motley company.

She blinked calmly though admiring Shirin’s courage. If only she had some of that. True, she would be foolish and her cautiousness had done well to keep her alive, but if her personality was a little bolder, then maybe she’d get more.. difficult tasks done. “Yes. I’m going.”

Ofcourse that wasn't the only reason he had in mind. For one, he was new to this side of the empire, thus wasn't exposed to all the different situations by far, neither was expecting such unique entities with this type of abilities. Of course, mimicry wasn't a new ability he has never seen before, but this wasn't just a simple mimicry.
But without much information, there wasn't much he could deduct at the moment except go along with everything for now.
"Let me come along as well."
Let's just be patient and see.
Okami stepped out of the shadows and opened her eyes, taking a tentive step forward. Two groups, it seemed, were already being formed. Oh, how she hates alliances. She swept past Elehah and reached for the door handle, only to pause for a moment, listening for any signs of danger.
I don't hear anything... But that doesn't mean it's not there. That General... Something about him seems odd.
Shirin travelled through the city, turning at the first sign post that she had seen in her vision. It was a bit of a trek, but they'd make it in decent time.
After all this time, Shirin could confidently say that things just happened in her life. Part of the trade off for being able to see destinies was to have no destiny of her own. The use of an Oracle was measured in the strength of their powers. But for Shirin... well things just sort of happened. Cults arose, mischief happened, people did unexpectedly hilarious things... her life was a tragic comedy, and she wasn't sure if she was a character or a bystander in it, that just happened to have an inkling of whag the next scene might be. This situation was not different. A mysterious letter showed up, she was forced to travel across the world to hunt for one tavern among many, and now she was forced to work with strangers to do... something. What was their objective again? It was all pretty fuzzy. No matter. She figured she might as well attempt to get to know whoever she'd be dealing with.
"So forgive my... ignorance. But who are y'all? How'd the lot of you get in with... th'general? Did'ya get those suspicious letter-things too?" Her speech was slightly slurred, but she was exaggerating it. Please. Despite her short stature, she could put away a few gallons of the strong stuff before feeling the effects.

"I got some weird letter. Said they needed my fighting skill. But I don't know how I'm supposed to deal with those monsters." She said. "But they might have also chosen me because I've seen a full cycle firsthand."
Alex sighed. In her mind, letters were typing out.
O A K T R E E
they read. In her mind, she saw The General standing at the base of a huge tree. Then it went into a sort of ariel veiw.
She could see the tavern, her location, and the generals. For the fastest route, she was going to have to cut through some feilds, but that should be okay. She left the tavern, still with her eyes closed, not saying a word.
...
She arrived at the oak tree first, standing next to the general. She'd already been late once, thankfully not again.
