Kay wasn't looking when the teacher first stepped through and thus
was more than a little spooked when he suddenly turned around to
see most of the other students gone. Looking around, he watched
carefully as other people stepped through the gate and seemingly
disappeared without emerging the other side. He could surmise that
it was probably something magical then, perhaps similar to what hid
his room from prying eyes? It was much more elegant though, and Kay
busied himself with staring listlessly at the construct until it
was only him and Seijo left.
The two locked themselves in a silent battle of trying to let the
other go through the arch first, the unspoken battle of politeness
dissuading either of them from going forth. He already could tell
that the other didn't quite like eyes on him which Kay could
understand, so he kept his eyes trained away from Seijo as he tried
his best to out-polite him. Eventually though, Kay caved and once
again bowed in thanks before stepping through the gate as well. One
day. One day he would win
