Her bare feet, scarred from years of work, brushed against the vibrant and whimsical blades of grass she had found herself in. The loose dress she had acquired in Hell swayed in the breeze, just like the grass below, harmonizing to make a peaceful atmosphere that she could just bask in for ages. It was... nice, really. Mei could hardly feel the ache in her bones or the blisters on her skin, everything just washed away. She was standing in an empty field, surrounded by nothingness.
Eh, whatever, not like she would be able to enjoy it anyways. Not like it would be empty for long, she was a fugitive to otherworldly beings that could kill her instantly, and she wanted to do other things anyways. Her boredom always managed to ruin the moment, but she was obviously used to it by now. The sunlight was just a massive issue, there were no shadows at her disposal and it just... hurt, honestly. Her skin really didn't like the flashbang...
In only a few moments, her feet lifted off the ground and she began to run. Grass flew behind her and the wind felt like it was running with her, blowing her hair in her face. "Run, run as fast as you can, don't look back..." That's what everyone else says, right? Was it supposed to be motivational or something? Mei never really understood the odd things her kind said, all of it was just BS anyways, illusions to sugarcoat the harsh world she lived in. She learned from a young age that those words never worked, and she never intended them to either. Well, she ran anyways, all the way until she saw a faint line ahead, one that looked like it was a forest. Unfamiliar noises filled her ears as well. Huh... what the hell was that?
Once she had reached the forest, her feet began to slow down and she began to breathe. Oh god... All those years in Hell really made her weak, she felt like she was going to pass out. She knew that she could run faster, but her body cried out in pain every time Mei's feet hit the dirt below. She hated it, hated it so much that she got furious with herself, but quickly calmed down. Now was not the time to worry about herself like this, she should've been more concerned with those noises she had heard a while ago. Mei was only able to take a few steps before she stopped herself. Something didn't feel right... Momentarily, her breathing came to a halt. No... Didn't she hear something about the demons reclaiming their land? A whole war or something? She never really cared about it, but now she felt like she had to. Could her life be in danger because of it? Would she have to pick a side or something? Mei wasn't exactly concerned about either of those possibilities, but she really didn't feel like living an eternity in hell, and she certainly didn't want to be on either side. Demons were just power-hungry, annoying creatures that sapped her fun away, and humans were just toys to her. Of course, she seethed them for how horrible they were, but at least they were easy to play around with. God, could she just focus already? Her standing here like an absolute idiot wasn't gonna save her, and it certainly wasn't gonna get her to the places she wanted to go.
Clearing away all her pointless thoughts, Mei trekked forwards towards the noise, bushing past all the trees and bushes, only to find... An abandoned city, yup, a completely barren, lifeless city. At least, that's what she hoped. You see, Mei wasn't exactly sure how many people were wiped off the face of the earth, but she figured it was a good portion of them. Even if there was a large number of people left, it's not like it would affect her much anyways. Mei could just get in, get out, and have some fun while she's there. The sound she heard was apparently from a thin, shaggy dog that was tied to a tree closer to the city. Its barks certainly didn't sound the way they should, the noise more hoarse and raspy than she could ever imagine a dog sounding like. Mei carefully approached the poor thing, now rediscovering her soft spot for the innocent such as this little guy. As she did though, it backed away in fear, yelping as if she was some sort of ghost, staring at him with murderous intent. Well... the stranger did come straight from Hell, so could she really blame the poor thing? In order to make herself less intimidating, hopefully, Mei crouched down as she tip-toed her way over and held her hand out, giving an empathetic smile to the hound. Ouch... The corners of her mouth almost instantly hurt after doing so, her time in that rot slowly molding her face into a permanent expression that made it painful to do anything else. Anything for a dog, I guess...

Abyss paused his stride forward. he sighed, sheathing his daggers.
"I always did destroy you in arguments, didn't I?"
he placed his skeleton mask over his face again as he turned on his heel.
"Despite how much I resent you... I can't seem to bring myself to kill you. Why is that?"
