Title: Narrator

She didn’t know how or where they came from — neither of them did. All that mattered now was that Kia had to keep her sister alive. They were both just sitting on the couch, as they did most evenings when three weird…creatures burst through their window. They had no time to prepare when these things shot Israela. Kai ran down to her sister, putting as much pressure as she could to the wound, focused on keeping her sister from losing too much blood. She swore at them, screaming for help as one of the shorter ones grabbed the gun, shooting Kai. The world around her immediately came to a stop as everything went black.

Kai Marjorie

Kai woke up with a gasp, looking around frantically. She was…alive? How? Those things had shot both of them, it had sure as hell felt like she died. She looked around, trying to get an idea of where she was. It didn’t seem like any hospital she’d ever been to..

Israela Marjorie

Israela was having a lovely day. Her beloved sister would agree, of course! Lemonade, filthy apartment, monsters breaking in through the window- absolutely perfect. Absolutely exciting!

And now she had lost all her blood.

Not in the sense that she was light-headed, of course. More so in the fact that it had vanished off her torso, and- hm. Had her skin changed colours-?

She sat up and glanced back and forth. Oh. This is nice.

She supposed, from the screaming, the blazing fires, and the amount of small demon creatures dying in the corner of her eye that she was in hell.

Her eyes flicked to the side, just in time to see a spear stabbing towards her.

Kai stood, albeit rather shakily, looking around.

Was..is this hell? No.. no, that couldn’t be right. Her and Israela did nothing wrong!

She held onto the couch for extra support, looking down at her hand. It was..different. Red with patches of white, and her hair had changed!

She needed to find her sister—before anything bad could happen. Before those..

Things.

Found them again. No doubt they came from here.

Israela Marjorie

Israela ducked beneath the blow, and her claws accidentally raked down the (thing? angel? evil attacker monster thing?) 's leg. Huh. That was useful.

Or it wasn't. The creature turned to her, its face blank, and raised the spear again.

She rolled between its legs, and jumped up. For some reason, she felt more agile than ever. Now that was useful for sure. The thing began to turn, so she snapped herself out of her thoughts and hurried down the street, ducking past corpses of beings more freakish than anything she'd been turned into.

She spotted a bar at the end of the street and hesitated, glancing back and forth. A streetlamp dangling by a thin cord sputtered to life and illuminated one of the killer monster things.

Now that was bad.

She ducked inside of the bar and collapsed against the wall.

Kai Marjorie

She seemed to be in some abandoned building. This wasn’t good, she didn’t know where she was, her sister was gone, and she could here…something, around her.

She grabbed a piece of wood from the floor, holding it over her as she centered in on something. Was she always this…in touch with her surroundings?

As she slowed in on it, something jumped out at her, scratching at her across the cheek.

What the hell was that?

She fell backwards, throwing the piece of the wood at it. It fell forward, seemingly passed out. She swore, putting her hand over her mouth. Was it…dead? Double dead? Did she kill it? She was beginning to panic.

Israela Marjorie

The place was devoid of life. Something squelched under Israela's foot. She shuddered and tried not to think of what it might be. She made her way to behind the bar and examined the array.

Was she looking for clues in the degenerate layers of society?

Yes.

Yes she was.

A rattle came from behind her. She jumped. "Hello?" Her voice rang out, clear and high-pitched, a proud and tinkly bell sound. She admired it, then wondered where her old voice had gone.

"Hello. What poor luck. A fresh arrival to the Pride Circle of Hell, during the Eradication." She snapped on her heel, and whipped to face another monstrosity. An alive one, with a distinctly feminine grin on a delicate face. A tail coiled around the creature, ending in the rattles of a rattlesnake. "Come in here, seeking shelter, pretty one?"

"Yes." She took the compliment as a good sign. If I'm here, there must be some civilized people here, right?

The creature- (assuredly female, now, she was positive) - tilted her head to the side. A wistful look passed over her face, but a plastered grin quickly wiped it off. "Well then, you're in luck. Come." She swept through the wall. A purple glow rippled over it, and then stilled.

Magic.

How delightful.

Israela hoped she'd get some out of this, at the very least.

She followed after her new companion.

Kia Marjorie

Kia quickly made her way out of the house, head spinning and dizzy.

She had to find Israela. She had to make sure her sister was safe.

To anyone on the streets, she’d look like she had taken some weird drugs, barely able to stand and mumbling incoherently to herself. She pushed her hair out of her face, walking down the road.

Something about her seemed off….besides the obvious skin and hair changes. She looked down, finding herself with deer like legs. No wonder she was having a hard time walking..

Israela Marjorie

The stranger lead her through the secret passageway. Israela inhaled the scent of musty texts and dust. This definitely seemed like some sort of witchy place. Hopefully not for particularly hungry witch.

The corridor broke into an open room. It was dim and gloomy, but she spotted a fire in a wastebasket which lit up a dim corner, and showed an array of- rats??

She choked, stumbling back.

Her new companion turned to look at her, and grinned broadly.

"Welcome to my humble abode."

It was truly quite humble.

Kai Marjorie

Kai sighed, running her hand through her hair as she walked.

“This can’t be happening…it has to be a bad dream. I’m in a coma, we’re in the hospital.” She told herself.

She stumbled slightly over a dip in the sidewalk, grabbing onto the wall with a huff. How was she supposed to find her sister when she could barely walk?

Israela Marjorie

"What do you want?" Israela questioned.

The snake-girl tilted her head to the side. "What's your name?" Israela felt a prickle of unease. The look of amusement on the stranger's face- she didn't like it. Not one bit.

Thinking on her feet, she said, "Isabelle."

"Hm. Nice to meet you, Isabella. I'm Amirah." Amirah. Israela tried it on her tongue and found she liked it. "You're new to hell, aren't you?"

"So I'm in hell."

"Yes." The rattle rustled. Israela shuddered and tried to think of something else.

Narrator

The shadows to Kai's right shifted. Something was moving there- something with the power to-

A pole disengaged and plummeted for Kai.

Kai Marjorie

Kai yelped, stumbling out of the way. She looked around for something to use as a weapon, but to her dismay there wasn’t much around her.

She could try and find another person. Oh, who was she kidding, who in hell would help?

She could try and dodge their attacks, tire them out. Yeah. That could work.

She dodged under the being, popping back up behind them, standing up triumphantly.

Israela Marjorie

Eventually, Israela settled in. Screams resounded outside the room. The calm, firelit atmosphere of Amirah's room was highly preferable to the outside slaughter. She took a teacup from the table and sipped it.

She nearly choked.

Amirah watched her, amused. "Do you not like it?"

"It's good," she lied, setting it down. "Just hot."

"Hm." Amirah took a sip of her own. "Mine's fine."

Narrator

The creature was white, and enormous. Wings sprouted from its back. Suddenly, they flared open, rushing towards Kai's chest.

Kai Marjorie

Kai could barely move, but something in her shot her away mere moments before she might’ve been killed…again.

She couldn’t take this thing in. There was no way. So, she decided to do something stupid and talk to it.

“What the hell are you?!” She yelled at the creature, trying to walk backwards but losing her balance, ending up on the ground.

This couldn’t be good.

There was no way she was making it out of this.

Right?

Israela Marjorie

"Well, we're not drinking from the same cup, are we?"

"None of us do."

Israela narrowed her eyes. What's she trying to say? Is she calling me spoiled? But Amirah just continued sipping her tea, and gazing at a point past Israela. Eventually, Israela conceded.

"I hate it. It tastes like poison."

Narrator

The thing grinned as it stalked towards her. "Demons... must... die..." it hissed.

Gore Warning Kai's heel bumped into something. A wet thud resounded. It was the corpse of another demon- one that resembled a rabbit. The neck was nearly torn entirely away. The eyes were wide with terror.

Kai Marjorie

Kai felt sick, stumbling over the corpse. The creature kept creeping closer as she bumped into a wall, tears in her eyes.

She was going to die here.

She wasn’t going to find her sister, she’d be out here. Alone.

She closed her eyes, holding a hand in front of her as if it would do anything to help.

Narrator

An Imp stood atop a building, watching as a demon was getting chased down. It was quite obvious she was a newcomer, she looked as if she barely knew how to use her legs.

The imp felt pity for her, jumping off the building and banging her fhn against a lamppost with a grin. “C’mon buddy, you don’t want her! She’d taste about as good as a burnt bull!”

Israela Majorie

"Ah. So you lied."

"Yes, I lied," Israela agreed, annoyed. Who did this... this thing think she was? "And I didn't tell you my real name either. I don't exactly trust you, as you can see."

"At least you're honest now." Amirah smiled into her teacup. "I haven't been entirely truthful with you either. Though my name is Amirah. I wouldn't lie about something as inane as that."

"Fae," Israela dismissed it with a wave. "Only too many folk tales about the dangers of giving out your real name."

"I suppose you won't give it to me, then."

"No."

"Very well then. Isabella it is."

Narrator

The creature's head turned. The blue eyes glowed in the moonlight. Slowly, a grotesque grin spread over its face. Without looking away from the imp, it raised the spear, the shaft hovering over Kai's abdomen-

And then it jerked forward, abandoning Kai and lunging for the imp, weapon extended.

Kai Marjorie

Kai stood, unable to believe she had survived. She had to help the stranger somehow, didn’t she? She ran to the side, looking around.

Corpses, so many of them. Rope, knives….no guns. She couldn’t get close to the thing, it would kill her immediately!

As she thought to herself, she was pulled from her train of though by a gunshot.

Narrator

The imp stood her ground, waiting until the last second before firing her gun, shooting the creature point blank in the chest. She looked over at the stranger who now seemed to be standing in front of an alleyway, staring at her.

Narrator

The creature gazed at her. A white light blossomed from its chest, wrapping around the injury. But it had gone still, the weapon limp in its grip. Paralysis- Upon a fatal wound, exterminators were paralyzed as they healed.

That was, until reinforcements arrived.

Israela Majorie

Isabella it is. For some reason, an ache had started in Israela's chest. She shook it off. Now wasn't the time for reminiscing.

"When will this 'Extermination' end?" she asked.

"Soon." The snake dismissed it with a flippant wave of her hand. "I'm more interested in you." She set down her cup, and clasped her hands together. She leaned across the table, her gaze intent. "Why are you here? Why have you come to hell?"

"I suppose I was a terrible person." Israela didn't care too much for that label, but it was an okay one. "Any other questions?"

"No," Amirah shook her head slowly. "That's not true. And you know it, despite what you say to me- and yourself."

Israela accidentally jarred the table with her knee. Cursing, she clutched it with her hands. It stung.

Amirah fell back. She studied Israela again for a long moment, then took up her tea again.

Kai Marjorie

The imp made a run for it, grabbing Kai’s hand. Kai tried to pull away, hitting the imp’s arm as she swore. “Where the hell are you taking me?!”

“Somewhere safe, you don’t want that wakin’ back up, do you?” It replied quickly, leading Kai up to a building. It was…tall, to say the least. Big black and white horns on each side.

“Well, if you’re going to drag me around, can I know your name?”

“That’s not important right now darlin’, now is it?”
