A relatively normal day in Paris. Something that was hard to come
by thanks to Hawkmoth. Sitting in the Lourve Museum, in the Ancient
Egypt section, sat a girl. With pale skin, curly black hair, and
black eyes, it was hard to tell that she was an Egyptian
descendent, a direct one at that. The girl, know by only her first
name, Rehema, gazed sadly at the hieroglyphs and images displayed
in the museum. It pained her to see these not in their rightful
place at her place of origin. Why did she sit here? Why did she
stare at these relics when she should be learning about modern
times? Thanks to her cover story, she had tutors teaching her about
the world, or mainly Paris's, history. So why did she gaze
longingly at the items of this place? Because she was mourning.
Rehema was mourning her past. The people she once knew who had been
dead for many centuries. It hurt her heart. The very heart that
shouldn't even be beating at this point. She should have been dead
with her loved ones all those years ago. And yet here she was,
staring at these hallowed-to-her halls with pieces of the life she
once knew...
"come on along children." The teacher said, leading a group of
students through the ancient Egypt area. "Mylene, it's okay. Things
aren't going to come out and scare you."
The teacher was referring to two students who seemed to be at the
back of the group, Mylene and Diane. As usual, Mylene was being
skittish, knowing what was in the ancient Egypt area: mummies.
Diana understood her friend's fear. Especially once you get history
involved.
"Come on Mylene, let's go together." Diane said, offering a hand to
her friend. Mylene nodded, taking her hand as they followed the
group of students, who were crowding around a coffin.
Rehema suddenly heard voices. She reflexively checked her satchel
to ensure what was contained within was still there. Seeing as it,
a chibi Anubis looking creature, was still in there, she sighed in
relief and got up. Standing fully and giving a short prayer to
those who had passed, she decided to investigate the voices. She
found her answer; a school 'field trip' as she had learned it was
called. For some reason many of them were surrounding one of the
few sarcophagi of the museum. We're they interested in its
history??
"now, what you're seeing in front of you is an iconic treasure in
ancient Egypt history." The teacher said as Mylene and Diane
reached the group. "Remember, write down anything important! These
notes might be handy when studying for a test!"
"Hey I forgot to bring a pen can I borrow yours?" A girl, who's
name was Jenny, asked her friend Nicole.
"Sure! Give it back to me at lunch okay?" Nicole said as she handed
Jenny a pen. Diane didn't think about it too much. She was busy
with her own notes anyways.
Rehema stayed at a distance from the group of students, close
enough to listen and see, but far enough to not be immediately
noticed by them. She was happy that there seemed to be interest in
Ancient Egyptian history. She didn't move closer, simply observing
the group...
Note taking was not the most fun task one could do at the museum.
The teacher told them about how mummification worked, what it's
purpose was, and how they did it. Diane could see Mylene's hand
shaking during some of the creepier explanations.
The rest of the ancient Egypt tour was quite normal. Explanations
of what certain symbols meant, what gods were being represented as
Statues... It was not the most boring thing, but it's not the most
fun either.
"We're a bit early but I guess it's lunchtime now." The teacher
said after what seemed like an eternity of talking. "after lunch
remember to meet back here for the special program okay?"
Rehema pretended to be another tourist, gazing at the relics while
listening in on what the teacher and students were saying. She
sometimes silently corrected certain bits of info the teacher said
that were incorrect. She could see one of the students, a girl with
pale hair and a bright pink headband, was considerably creeped out
by some of the information. She understood that many rituals were
seen as disturbing, so she didn't hold it against the girl.
Diane sighed upon hearing that they could go to lunch now. As the
teacher lead them back, she could hear her fellow classmates
talking about what they just heard. Some were questioning things,
some were talking about how cool it was that mummification really
worked.
"I can't believe the ancient Egyptians actually did those
things..." Mylene said, having calmed down a bit. "As if mummies
weren't scary enough.
Diane wondered how Twill was feeling. Hearing some adult ramble on
was not something entertaining, so the Kwami probably fell asleep
out of boredom.
Rehema barely contained a giggle at the girl's comment. It was
interesting to hear the opinions of others about things that were
common or normal for her. She hid from the group as they passed by
to go to lunch. Feeling her satchel move a little, she opened it to
see her little creature, what was called a 'Kwami' named Penn,
looking up at her. Smiling to the creature, Rehema said, "It's so
hard to believe that things from before are seen as strange or
weird in the present, isn't it?" The Kwami nodded, saying "Indeed.
Are you handling it alright?" Rehema's smile turned sad. Glancing
away, she said, "It's... difficult I suppose. Everything is
different to me..." She sighed in longing. Stopping her self-pity
session, she decided to head out to get some food. It wasn't much,
but it could help distract her from what she had lost...
As the students were eating lunch, Jenny and Nicole was having an
argument about the pen. Due to how long the talk was, Jenny had
completely forgotten that she has borrowed a pen. The argument
ended in Nicole storming walking off to complain to a teacher.
Diane and Mylene were talking with Marinette's friend circle about
their daily lives and how they were excited for the special program
after lunch.
"Ah yes, this emotion of anger is familiar." Hawk moth said as he
started preparing the Akuma. "People borrowing from you, only to
never give it back. Fly away my little Akuma, and evilize her!"
Rehema had returned to the museum in time to watch one of the
students storm off from the group. This concerned her, as this sort
of behavior often led to an Akuma attack, something she had gotten
to discover for herself in her time in Paris... She chose to not
follow the girl. It was not her place to help a stranger,
especially if the situation was very minor in terms of seriousness.
"Retriever, I am Hawk moth. I grant you the power to take back all
those things people took from you." Hawk moth spoke to Nicole as
the butterfly mask appeared. "All you need to do is take ladybug
and cat noir's Miraculouses.
Diane started packing up her stuff, reviewing her notes while
Marinette and her friends were talking the usual things, like
Adrien. At least they didn't notice Diane's reaction to seeing chew
marks on her notebook.
Rehema found her way back to the hall she had previously been in.
Seeing no one else around, she allowed Penn to be free from her
satchel. The two began to chat quietly about the past they had
shared and skipping over the people lost as it may cause a downward
spiral for Rehema from the memories... They enjoyed their chat
while enjoying a bit of food.
"come on, let's go back to the ancient Egypt area!" Marinette
suggested, not before the Akumatized villain landed in front of the
museum.
"I am retriever, and I will take back everything that was taken
away from someone." Retriever announced, taking a ruler and
shooting a beam at Jenny's bag. Upon coming in contact with the
beam, the bag disappeared and reappeared in Retriever's hands.
Being a bunch of teens, the students grabbed their stuff and tried
to retreat, not wanting their stuff to get stolen. Diane ran
towards the back of the museum as Retriever started causing chaos.
Hearing a sudden commotion, Rehema investigated. She found the
Retriever... So much for a peaceful day... Running to a secluded
section of the Egyptian section of the museum, she turned to Penn
and called out, "Penn! Praise the gods!" Allowing her to transform
into Ancienne Anubis.
Diane, upon reaching the back of the museum and opened her bag, as
usual Twill was hanging upside down on some random object in her
bag, half asleep.
"Eh? Did I miss the good stuff?" The Kwami asked, waking up. "That
talk was the most boring thing ever. Fell asleep from that.
"By good stuff, there's this " Diane pointed out, pointing at the
chaos on the other side of the museum. Twill rolled their eyes.
"Twill, nightfall!" Diane said, transforming into nightbat.
Retriever would be a hassle to deal with.
Ancienne Anubis leapt from her hiding place catching the attention
of Retriever.
Adrien Agreste had fled the scene as soon as Retriever appeared.
Finding a hiding spot and transforming into Chat Noir, he made it
back, only to see two new figures. Were they...... Miraculous
wielders as well?
Nightbat landed on the roof of the museum, a smirk across her face.
She could see the confusion on Retriever's face as she took a
notebook from a poor student.
Marinette transformed into ladybug and was confused as much as
Retriever was.
Ancienne Anubis and Chat Noir suddenly froze as they got sight of
both each other and the figure on the roof. Ancienne also caught
sight of a Ladybug spotted figure as well. Who were these other
costumes people?! There was no time to dillydally, because
Retriever began her attack on the heroes.
