The two wild Pokemon appeared to be in a kind of battle position, narrowing their eyes.

"Ah right... We gotta fight." Theo sighed, turning to Viola. "Which are you going for?"

Grookey hit its stick on the ground eagerly.

Viola thought for a moment while prying sobble out of her hair. "I'll go for the Rookidee." she said, reassuring her starter pokemon.

"Alright then." Theo turned their attention to the fox Pokemon who was brushing its tail on the dirt. "Ready Grookey?"

The grass type chittered without hesitation, fixing its gaze at the opponent.

Viola gently put Sobble down. "It's okay, just do your best okay?" she said, reassuring Sobble.

With no hesitation, the Rookidee took into the air, aiming a peck at Sobble.

Nickit ran ahead with a scratch attack.

"Try dodging then use tackle." Theo's response like usual, didn't have the enthusiasm, but it was what they wanted Grookey to do.

Nodding, the grass monkey leaped back to evade the scratch before landing a tackle on the Nickit's side.

Sobble looked up at Rookidee, slightly panicking.

Viola smiled, reassuring Sobble. "Stay calm ok? Dodge the peck and use tackle, try and keep it down on the ground." she commanded, in a soft voice to make sure Sobble was relaxed.

Startled by the water type's dodge, Rookidee ended up getting its beak stuck in the ground, making it have to waste time to get it out.

Nickit stumbled back slightly, taking the full hit from the attack, although it still was standing. It ran at Grookey again with another scratch.

"Again!" Theo had a bit more enthusiasm in that comment.

Like before, Grookey tried backing up, but felt a bit of the scratch attack. Wincing, it slowed its movement.

Seeing it's chance, Sobble started attacking Rookidee repeatedly.

Viola smiled "Good job Sobble!" she praised her partner's actions.

When Rookiedee finally got its beak out from the ground, it got damaged enough for it to lose its balance, unable to pay attention to battle.

Similar to Rookidee, after getting hit with another tackle, Nickit lost its focus to fight.

"Now's the time." Theo slipped out one of the extra pokeballs from their bag, tossing it at the Nickit.

Sobble ran back to Viola, seeing the state Rookidee was in.

Viola grabbed a pokeball and threw it at the weakened Rookidee.

"Once we get to Hammerlocke, the Pokemon Center should be where we go first I believe." Theo was surprised about how much they were saying to anyone than usual.

After a few moments of walking, they noticed the large building of the Hammerlocke gym ahead. "Guess that's it."

Grookey climbed onto Theo's head to get a better look.

Finally entering the city, the sudden noises of crowds startled them. Theo froze where they were, taking a few shaky breaths. "A lot more... Than I thought."
