Koda's eyes clouded with indecision. She sighed, genuinely seeming
uncomfortable. "I... Do I have to..?" What are you talking
about. You knooowww that they want to knowwww. Stop it!
"No!" Koda yelped. "I- I trust you!" Just tell them. It'll make
it easier. Fine. Koda bit her lip.
"Well... Their was an accident. And um... My mother didn't take it
very well because..." She tried not to cry. "I think it was, my
fault. My mother never really was nice, ever, but for some reason
she cared about my sister. Um..." Koda struggled not to run out of
the room and jump into the nearest tree. "My mother pushed me into
a gorge... It was really wet inside, and slippery. There were vines
though, and I climbed them. It virtually saved me, so I spent the
rest of my time in that tree. I became really good at climbing and
jumping. Yet more isolated and awkward... But I never left that
spot, ever." Koda wrinkled up her nose as her eyes prickled with
tears. I just feel like fool. You aren't-
"Eh? Me?" A brief flash of terror. A thousand lies exploded in
their mind, then reassembled into a thousand more. "I-" But she
wasn't listening anymore.
Of course.
Why would anyone listen to them?
To Suko?
She's hiding something.
This time, Hisoka felt a stir of pity.
"Come," he murmured. "We can play guard on the beach. Just remember
to be very, very quiet." A mercy. She didn't want to speak, he
wouldn't force the issue. In any case- "As long as you are quite
certain you have not seen anyone wearing a Phoenix mask."

"Enough." Koda snapped. "I mean, about... me." Koda turned to Suko.
"Y-yes. What about you, em, Suko?" Koda smiled. Change the
subject. Change the subject. CHANGE THE SUBJECT. Koda slammed
her head into her hands for a second, then turned her head towards
Suko with a half smile, half grimace. "Go on."
"I didn't say you were." Koda said in an eerie quiet. Yes, I'm a
loser. Shush Koda. If I were a physical being, I'd pin you to a
wall - Ew! - not kinkily! Ahem, and dig my nails in until you took
it back. Koda felt as if all her body weight was pressing on
top of her. Like her legs would simultaneously break.
Suko cocked their head to the side, smile vanishing. An oddly blank
look had taken over their face. Empty, hollow- downright terrifying
on Suko's facial features, which always seemed to be screwed up in
a smile.

Koda fixed her features. Her spine prickled with an unnerving
sensation. "What." Koda blinked, trying to conceal the confusion in
her voice - the fear.
"Hmm." Koda sighed. Can I come and say hi? No, Moon. WHyy? I
need you to keep me happy and sane. Who could do that better than
you!? I think I'm being patronized. Koda stifled a groan. "I
have a headache." She said simply, and draped her arms strangely
over her head.
Kowai inhaled. This isn't working. This isn't working at
all. But what could she do about it? She pondered to herself
the possibilities... when suddenly, it came to her. She realized
what she could do.
"Heyyyyy, guys! I thought of something! What if we played Hide 'n
Seek? Just a thought!"

Koda shrugged. "I'd guess someone hides and someone.. seeks." Koda
blipped out her tongue, with a clueless expression. "If I'm right,
sounds like Wolf and Rabbit, actually." She nodded
enthusiastically.
Kowai had a skeptical, questioning frown upon her face a
moment, and then she shrugged. "Pretty much what I was expecting
you to say! But, yeah! Someone hides, someone seeks out those who
hide, and MAKES THEM BEG FOR MERCY." Her voice sounded
uncharacteristically deep and incredibly edgy. "Joking! Anyway,
want to play, Koda?"
