"Life...?" Niwa blinked slowly. A face... "Oh. You mean, like, my childhood and things? Or my day to day life?" He tilted his head at Keiki.
"Everyone!" Hisoka called. "I found something!"
Niwa Atsushi
"Come see!" Hisoka called back.
Niwa turned to Keiki. "Well... I mostly just hung out with my family. Did projects together..." He tangled a strand of hair nervously around his finger. "My sister and I started one. Just when... you know. I miss my family a lot. We were really, really close."
He coughed. The atmosphere was grim, now.
"How about you?"

"Several things stick out to me about this schedule." Hisoka narrowed his eyes at Koda. "I want to see which you will pick up on."
"Monokuma's Decorater Show goes for four hours?" Suko was peering at the chart. "Not cool, man. Not cool at all."
Hisoka cast a sharp glance at Suko. The other was kneeling by the letters, tracing one of the activities with a shaking finger. Their throat bobbed nervously.
Come to think of it, everyone had been incapacitated almost instantly. How did Suko figure to sit atop the bookshelf?
Oh come on Koda. You're just being... superstitious. Suko isn't bad..... Koda brushes away the thought hastily.
Suko pulled back from the board, not looking at either of them. "We're not going to explore first?" They whined. But it wasn't much of a protest.
"It is unsafe," Hisoka said simply.
"Me!" Suko perked up. "I'll be there!"
"Mm." Hisoka gave them a look that was almost friendly. No, happy, almost. "Perhaps the Ultimate Magician may join you."
"Ooh?" Suko chuckled. "I bet you'd like that, wouldn't you?"
"Perhaps." Hisoka turned tail. "I will see you all later." He fled .
"He's totally crushing on Maji," Suko whispered to Koda. "Keep it in mind. Soft spots on guys like that are hard to come by." They grinned at her.
Suzume Fujimori's POV, Take Seventeen Because The Phone Keeps Dying
[TW: Blood, blood, blood, your organs]
A beast with eyes clouded over with sadness. The tears sparkling in its eyes like crystals. "Why, Suzume?" the sea monster seemed to have so many voices, all shrilling in pain. Some whispering, some shouting, some normal in volume. Some so, so angry, some so sad... some empty. "Why did you do this?"
Suzume winced. She had to scrounge around... find something that would help her. Help her get away from... from-
"WHY? Still only thinking of yourself... I see." It sounded hurt a moment... "DO YOU even have a heart?"
Of course she had a heart. She wouldn't be alive without one. At least this was what she reasoned from that comment.
But had... the beast meant her capacity for empathy had waned? That there was something she should feel guilty for? She did what she had to do... Suzume felt queasy, her chest felt as though it was burning...
Did she... really not have a heart?
She tried to feel for it, but at that moment, her heart exploded. Her blood splattered everywhere. She grasped at where it had been, trembling, shaking, gasping, coughing out her blood... how... how did her heart explode?... was... it from so much fear? It wouldn't explode in this way...
And having reasoned that, she woozily drowned in her own blood... the Ultimate Scientist no more.
The heart is an organ the size of your fist.
That was the first thought Suzume Fujimori, the Ultimate Scientist had as she awoke. She did feel rather groggy. She couldn't help but check if her heart was still there... it was, but beating rather quickly.
What an odd nightmare... but she was quite grateful it was over. It had frightened her, yes... frightened her. She admitted it. Slowly, she shifted, searching... for her glasses. They'd fallen off. She forced them upon her face.
"Megami?" she found her voice let out the name before she could stop it. She couldn't help but wonder where the Ultimate Cryptologist was... but why?
But more importantly. Where was she?... what was going on here?
"How did I get here?" Suzume wondered rather loudly, to no one in particular.
She observed her surroundings. It seemed that there were two others here, in this room... she noticed Kowai Kurai, and Femi Davis. Two people she barely knew.
Femi seemed to be asleep. But he moved fitfully...
Kowai... a rather fascinating individual to her. Worthy of curiosity. But she doubted she trusted this person. She seemed rather unstable.
Femi... a frail, shy, anxious, easy frightened boy. Quite self-preserving, notably... and incredibly emotional. He seemed subject to burst into tears at any given moment.
And at that moment, Suzume heard footsteps. And then the figure was upon her.
Femi Davis's POV
"GO! G-get away from me! L-LEAVE ME BE! I BEG OF YOU!! PLEASE!" the boy stammered, as he ran, dodging, frantically, desperately... He locked the doors behind him. He could hear them banging. He could hear them yelling. He could hear the bangs as those things... hit the wall... the cutting, the slicing...
No. Nonono. He was... safe! He was safe. He heaved a sigh of relief, willing the hyperventilation to stop. But he couldn't stop from trembling.
Femi tiptoed to the Nurses' Office, willing himself to stop shaking. He had so many memories here, in this place. Here he was, all alone, without a friend of his own...
He always was alone...
He sat down on the bed, but he could hear them. He could hear the bangs, the pounding on the doors. "WE KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE! COME ON OUT AND FACE US YOU PATHETIC LITTLE F---ER!!" "He's too much of a coward. Just like always! The other kid was more fun. Hey, kid, we've got a little kitty out here! Don't you wanna pet the little kitty?" "YEAH! COME ON OUT!"
...no. They didn't have a kitty. They... they HAD a little kitty. And they'd... they'd made him...
The knife glinted in his memory. He swore he would break down again, racketed with sobs... and... he did...
He curled up into a little ball on the bed, sniffling, sobbing, shaking. Breathing heavily... desperately willing himself to breathe quietly. The nurse wasn't here right now. It was late... He was bruised, bleeding, breaking apart... shaking, shaking...
"Just leave him. He'll come out eventually." Pause. Footsteps. Then... they were gone.
Femi had the thought right then. Before he could stop it, he had wished it. The thought had popped into his mind. I wish that they all were dead. That was his last thought before he let out a gasp of air he had suppressed from the fear, and fainted...
[Present Day]
My whole life, I've been the black sheep from the flock... surrounded by wolves...
But. Femi had felt like something had changed lately...
He'd realized, after all this time... maybe these people weren't wolves. Maybe... they were sheep, like him. Or something else.
What did he mean by that? He wasn't sure...
But then... his eyes widened. He awoke, became aware. His hands gripped his hole-ridden scarf to keep from shaking.
OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD-
Was... was he in an unfamiliar room? All by himself? No... nonono. Of course not. It seemed he wasn't alone...
He noticed two other people seemed to be in there with him. He noticed... Suzume Fujimori. The young scientist he'd grown acquainted with for a short period of time. And he'd broken down crying in front of her, begging forgiveness for everything that had happened. Not the best first impression.
Then there was... a faint memory stirred in his mind. The eruption of heartless laughter. A chill ran down his spine... right. That was Kowai Kurai. She was always smiling. For some reason. He had no idea what her talent was.
Did anyone? Anxiously, he stood up, trying to stir within himself the confidence to walk over and talk to them.
Friends. These were potential friends.
...right?
Kowai Kurai's POV
[Flashback... 7 Years Ago.]
A small young girl with huge reddish-brown eyes watched the chaos go down around her. In her hands she clutched a doll of a lamb.
People were running everywhere. She could hear them banging.
Why were they banging?
...slowly, she stepped over to the flames enveloping the atmosphere. She took a final glance at the lamb doll.
Into the flames it was tossed. She watched it burn, until there was nothing but ashes.
She felt for tears. There were none. Why wasn't she crying?
You'd think she could've felt something.
She reached down and touched the ashes with her fingers. The girl crumpled the ashes between them.
They weren't missed. She couldn't have missed them. The screams, the sobs carried on...
The girl wanted to cry, but she didn't. She smiled. The smile grew wider and wider. Before she knew it, she was laughing too!
She laughed, and laughed, and laughed and laughed.
And she began to play with the ashes, as the fire burned on.
But a tear glinted in her eye, never to make its way out.
[Present Day]
"Goodness!! How did we ever end up here?" Kowai chirped, a certain cluenessness in her voice. "Hello! Suzume Fujimori, Ultimate Scientist, was it?"
"That's right- I- who told you-" She'd seemed to have lost her composure a moment.
Kowai Kurai put her arms behind her head, which she tilted to the side, and interrupted her promptly. "Oh, you know, I just heard it. I also remember hearing about you before we got to this school. One of the most promising scientists the world has ever known! And at such a young age? They even made you an Ultimate!"
Suzume flinched. The girl's eyes glanced at the floor, refusing to meet Kowai's. "Yes. Yes they did." She spoke steadily, but rather choppy. How unlike her. "It's great to officially meet you, Kowai. If you don't mind me asking-"
Kowai interrupted her again. "Oh! Right! We need to figure out a way out of here!"
Suzume raised her index finger, eyes wide like those of a deer's, startled and now focused upon the girl. "But!!-"
"Well. I have no idea how we wound up here! But we might not be trapped. So we should just look for the exit."
Suzume looked as though she was going to speak, but no sound came out. There was but a muted drone of sound, that was more robot than human.
As if to break the silence, a certain voice spoke. "Umm... h-hi- I- don't mean to be rude. Sorry if I'm interrupting anything. I'm... Femi Davis. If you didn't know my name yet. Ultimate Animal... Trainer. I- I don't know... I- sorry if I'm-"
Suzume Fujimori seemed to be snapped out of her droning. "Yes. Femi. I've met you already. But I'm guessing Kowai hasn-"
She stopped, as Kowai rushed forward and-- hugged Femi?
"Ohh, heyy! You're that one boy who never dared talk to anybody, aren't you? I mean, not that we've been here that long! I'm Kowai Kurai!!"
"I- I know- I just- wanted to... um..." Femi fidgeted. He seemed uncomfortable.
"Femi, let me ask you something. As the Ultimate Animal Trainer, have you ever handled sheep?" Kowai asked.
Suddenly, it was as though there was a shine of confidence in him. "O-Oh! Of- course I have. I love sheep! They're really sweet. And- bears are also sweet." He shivered suddenly. "Most of them..."
Suzume had her arms crossed and her brows furrowed. "Not to intrude on the conversation," she almost snapped, "but shouldn't we be getting out of here?"
Kowai broke the hug and Femi nearly fell over. "Oh!! You're right, we should!" She clapped her hands for some reason. "Should we try the door?"
Femi couldn't help laughing for some reason. "Ah- um- yeah! Definitely! The door." He slowly made his way towards it, and it... opened? "I'll... see you two later, I guess?" he asked awkwardly.
"Of course!" Kowai replied cheerily. "See you later, Femi!"
As he walked out, Suzume turned to glare at Kowai as she tried to leave. "Not so fast." She grabbed Kowai by the necklace she wore. Kowai sputtered and choked. "HEY! Careful there!"
"First, you interrupted me multiple times. SECOND, you seem way too calm about this whole situation. And third-" Suzume paused, with a guilty look in her eyes. "...never mind. But I'm watching you." She let Kowai go and stomped away. Moments later, her walking turned silent.
Kowai had to fester up every ounce of self-control in her being not to attack her. At the end of it, she felt rather dazed by all that had happened.
A smile made its way onto her face. "I'll be watching you too, Suzume Fujimori. And Femi Davis."
And so she made her way out the door.
(Probably my longest post ever honestly- and there was still more I wanted to add- but this is it for now- important note, Kowai was unconscious ike everyone else, she just happened to be awake before Suzume and Femi were. From here, I'm going to try to catch my characters up on the current chapter. PS, I left Kowai's thoughts out on purpose in this post, so the reader can interpret what she might have been thinking-)

"Everything is going to be okay."
Suko Nobu
She smiled at them! Suko beamed back, so hard that it hurt. Don't you hurt all the time, though? piped inthe back of their head, a traitorous lying voice. They dug their nails into their palms and smiled harder. She left, heading towards ths dorms.
Suko choked out a laugh.
And then they heard them. Sciencer girl? Kowai? And-
An evil grin started on their face.
"Femi!" They cried, whipping on their heel and flinging themself at Femi's midsection. They sobbed into his chest, clinging with all their might. "I've missed you so much! Poor Suko has been alone without their beloved Femi by their side!"
Not that I haven't enjoyed it.
They dismissed the thought and snuggled more forcefully against Femi.
Hisoka Yamanaku
Hisoka's leaps and bounds finally began to falter as the voices drifted out of range. He collapsed against a boulder, breathing heavily. He wasn't sure if he was glad or not that no one had followed. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to curb the nausea.
And then, a breaking in branches.
Someone had followed him after all.
Kowai? He went rigid.
But then she burst through and he relaxed.
"Oh, hello. Koda," he greeted, coldly. "Why might you be here?" He surveyed her. "Heading for the dorms as well?"
"Are you okay?" Koda asked. "You look.... sick." She added, glancing at him. "You look kind of like Astro when she ate a rotten apple-" She cut herself off. For it was a name she had not mentioned in a while. She stopped a sad noise emerging her mouth and waited from an answer.
A rustle in the bushes. Hisoka's gaze sharpened.
"Koda," he said softly. "You did not bring anyone with you... did you?"
Niwa fell through the bushes and collapsed.
Suzume Fujiimori's POV
Just who had this Kowai Kurai thought she was?...
I had been about to ask you about your Ultimate Talent. But you knew that somehow, didn't you?
Miss Fujimori did not like being ignored. She did not like being left out of a conversation. She did not like being interrupted. She did not like being told lies. She did not like this Kowai Kurai person.
No. She must not lose her composure. Must not form grudges of an emotional kind. Not again...
This really wasn't like her.
But something.
Something Kowai had said... was what disturbed Suzume most.
How had she known?
Through the halls, Suzume drifted. Her steps seemed to have an echoey quality to them. As though all of this weren't quite real.
She faintly thought she heard Suko's voice.
Suko.
Curious... Suzume had mixed thoughts abour such a person.
She'd wondered who they were, really.
Chaotic, flirtatious. Snapping... "Oh no we can't play this game"... no.
Was there a motivator for all that they did?
Suzume hadn't picked up what they were saying.
She didn't know if she wanted to.
...
Part of her wanted to find Megami.
Part of her wanted to find someone else.
Part of her wanted to be left alone.
And with that, she wobbled and her knees gave way, pushing to try to get up against the wall. But her body refused to.
Femi Davis's POV
He... wasn't repulsed by it. But somehow, underneath the mixed turmoil, he felt afraid. Very afraid.
Wasn't he always afraid?
This was just like what Kowai had done. Didn't he want to be friends with everyone?
But...
There had been something off about her. Somehow. And something off about Suko too.
...how could he ever be friends with everyone, when he couldn't stop feeling so very afraid, so very suspicious?
No. They weren't like that!! Not all of them...
Right?
Was this normal?
Femi felt it, as though a caged door had clasped shut on him. And finally, eventually, he responded.
"O-Oh! Hello, Suko... I've... missed you too," he almost mumbled. It seemed that his confidence had barely improved at all. "So what have you been up to lately? Probably talking to people you like a lot more than me, right?" Somehow the words poured out before he could stop them. Without stammering, in a rather unnatural fashion. Followed by quiet laughter.
He hadn't meant to say that! "I- I mean, Suko, I'm sorry, I-"
Don't cry. Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry, he begged himself. He pleaded with himself not to cry.
But he couldn't find his words. They all caught in his throat.
Kowai Kurai's POV
And so Kowai arrived, like a sudden windstorm at a kindergarten picnic! [I had to say it. Please.]
She put her hands on her hips and glanced between Koda, Hisoka, and Niwa. "I'm just kidding!! Maybe! Hisoka, Niwa, and- Koda? That's your name right? I don't believe we've met." She let out a mock gasp, and opened her mouth slightly.
"But, Koda, calmmm down. If anyone is likely to have their reservations about you, it's..." She glanced pointedly in Hisoka's direction. "That's just the way he tends to be, really. Whether someone is worthy of suspicion or not."
She smiled reassuringly at the three of them.
I have to admit Hisoka is a bit paranoid sometimes. However... I think that he's usually right in his suspicions of others. As much as I despise him, he is a very logical person, not likely to suspect things without good reason, evidence, or strong intuition.
And I have only a small idea about who Koda is. It might be best to calm her down though...
And as for Niwa...
Niwa.
...
Well...
She knew a good deal about who that was... Didn't she?
