She backed away instantly, overjoyed to hear Mika complying. That was... Surprising.
For such a seemingly cold and jerk-ish dude, he was easy to scare. That was interesting... She'd keep that in mind.
She grinned and started to rock back and forth on her heels, waiting for them. The usually lavender eyes returned to normal after she closed her eyes to do that iconic, devious grin.
She couldn't help but to think about earlier though, that hug with Darcy. She usually hated hugs, it made her skin crawl and her body too warm because of the contact. Besides, who knows how dirty people were...
But that hug... It felt... Fine, weirdly enough. Mei didn't hate it, in fact...
It felt normal. For once, she felt normal. For a moment, she didn't have to put on an act, she didn't force herself to think a certain way, and she was just like she was 10 years ago. Not a single thought in her mind.

Mika breathed a sigh of relief as he took the device thingy from...somewhere.
He nicely handed Mei a silver knife to the arm, followed by three more directed at her abdomen.
Surprisingly, none of them drew as much blood as Mika would've liked.

Lucian Arbred's POV
They averted eye contact. Darcy inhaled, looking everywhere but at Lucian.
"...no. I'm not. It's not a big deal, though."
Oh no. I am NOT having that.
He wasn't going to let someone here suffer. And! Not to mention... If people were in psychological distress, they might be more susceptible to murder.
But, he didn't want to intrude on Darcy's boundaries.
"...you're sure it's not?"
"...I just want out of here. I feel so trapped. It's all wrong. It's all so wrong..."
Somehow, Lucian got the impression this wasn't about the school.
"...what's all so wrong?" Lucian asked, putting a hand on their shoulder.
"This! This- never mind... I just wish I could escape, I..."
Darcy's eyes widened, fixated on the hand. They slapped it away.
"No. Nonono! Don't. Please, don't. I'm fine!"
And then they ran away, before Lucian could even conduct a theory as to their behavior.
Darcy Harper's POV
Darcy froze, as they remembered their mom's hand upon their shoulder. Her face. The words she whispered...
Oh god. Oh god...
They didn't want to think about it. Think about what? There was nothing to think about.
Darcy... Thought about Mei's... Hugging them earlier.
Oh right. Satan incarnate.
Their face went red. Why the hell did... She hug them? Had she... Been happy to see them? Somehow?
Darcy didn't know.
God, why do I even... Why did I even...
Darcy put their hand to their face. A splitting headache struck again...
Clearly, Mei had been considering slitting their throat.
...and Lucian had been trying to help.
And what did you do? You ran away from him. That's right, you ran away! Isn't that just what you always do?
Stop it--
Sure! Just run away from the problems. They'll go away that way, oh, I'm sure!
Darcy curled up in a ball against the wall, crying and hugging their knees.
Stupid feelings. Stupid, stupid.

She let her guard down for one second and this happened? Of course it did...
Thank goodness Mei conveniently had god-like reflexed and managed to get away with minor cuts. They still hit her though, and all the blows were visible... Aww man, that was her favorite jacket!
"Seriously? Silver, again?" Her disappointed, confused look hung as she backed away for a moment, only retaliating a bit later.
Mei epically pulled a "nothing personal, kid" in awesome anime fashion and grabbed Mika's knife-wielding arm before he had a chance to back away. She yoinked the knife out of his hands, pinned him against the nearest wall with the side of her forearm, then shoved the knife point to his neck as she gripped his shirt firmly.
"I respect the effort, Mika, but at least know your opponent before you pull a move like that, m'kay? That overconfidence could getcha killed, y'know, it ain't worth it if you're not even good enough to do it."
She tilted her head to the side and smiled, then used the hand she was pinning him down to retrieve the device. She managed to do that before he squirmed his way free, but she had an idea...
"Y'know what? There's something else I want from you~" She chuckled, then backed away from Mika, still holding on to his shirt. To make him even more miserable, she grabbed the conveniently placed notebook on the bed and stuffed it under her free arm, putting the knife away in the universal knife holder known as "the inside part of a jacket pocket".
She completely ignored the apparent ghost now in the room, not giving a single thought to the... weird thing they said.
Mei would leave that stuff to Miyako, she was a ghostbuster, right? Maybe they knew what to do about this...
Mei decided to drag him along, out the door and headed the cafeteria. That didn't take as long as she thought, the entire group was still there... "Hehe. I'm back! Guess "business" didn't take as long as I thought!"
"Oh yeah, cute little Mika here is comin' along too! Yaaaayy, we got a whole squad now!" She pulled Mika closer and ruffled his hair, the classic "dad" move, wrapping her arm over his shoulders tightly.
She wasn't going to let him go, no matter what.

Mika almost squealed in pain as Mei yeeted him against the wall. He stood there and saw Mei not only take the funny device, but also his notebook.
Oh no.
He blushed a deep crimson at the thought of Mei reading his notebook. No that couldn't happen. He wouldn't allow it.
"H-heyy...g-give it b-back..." He said quietly, unable to raise his voice.
He was then dragged by Mei to somewhere.

"Huh?" Mei's grin turned into an exaggerated puzzled look as she looked over at the pleading Mika.
"Pffft, you really think I'll do that? Nah, I'll give you payback instead~"
She quickly flipped through the pages, her expression changing with each drawing she saw. By the end, she was on the verge of bursting into laughter.
"Mika, what the hell! Ok, not gonna lie, totally worth it!" She finally cracked, she was now laughing the entire time she spoke. Mei nearly threw the notebook back to him, not finding much use for it anymore because honestly, she didn't want to be in possession of that. Besides, even if it was good blackmail, she was too lazy to do that. "Fine, Fine! Here, have your corn-filled wonderland back!"
After a few seconds, Mei finally calmed down enough to respond to Lucian... As well as Darcy.
"Business? Wouldn't yooouuuu like to know, therapist-boy?" She giggled as she refused to say what she had done, and slightly "nudged" Mika as a warning.
"Awww, Darcy! Why so tense, hmmmmmm? Come on, cheer up! You're stuck with us now, might as well enjoy it~"

Mika blushed even harder as he heard Mei laugh.
He snatched his notebook back and stuffed it somewhere in his oversized hoodie.
He felt his hand graze over something. Oh right, the hyper-sedative dart I made as a last resort.
I guess I'll just try and replicate it later...This academy has literally everything anyway.
He swiftly took the dart out and poked Mei as hard as he could (which was not very hard since Mei is actively preventing him from moving).

Lucian cracked his knuckles. "I AM SO. F**KING. DONE! With you, pushing everyone around, and treating them like worthless pieces of garbage!"
(Darcy got out imaginary popcorn.)
Lucian did a sweeping strike right for Mei's face, and prepared to duck away.

Ah great, now she got Lucian mad... Well, from the anger, her spidey senses started tingling, and that allowed her to move just enough so the blow only felt like a small slap.
Before she could do anything back, she felt the familiar prick of a needle pierce her skin. That brat...
Mei groaned before swatting it away, glaring at Mika. "You really don't know when to quit, do ya?"
"And I was only retrieving something that was rightfully miiiiine!" Mei whined, because stealing an object from a thief wasn't as good as being the main robber.
"Geez Lucian, why do you hate me so muuuuuch?" She whined again, pouting as she placed her free hand on her hip. She didn't bother to do anything else though, she wasn't in the mood for it anyways. Besides...
She couldn't forget about whatever Mika did to her though, who kn-

She could feel it already, even though it appeared to be slow to activate. She had noticed that her blinks were barely longer than before, and her thoughts weren't as clear.
Oh well, she'd be fine. She had plot armor after all.

She ate a piece of paper with an image of a very edible human drawn on it that was on the floor for some reason.
Rumia didn't care enough to read what exactly was on it, but she could make out the title "Euthymia Circe". Huh, who might that be?

"...oh my god. What have I done," he choked out. "...what have I done? I just... Dealt someone... A physical injury, I..."
I'm better than that. I SHOULD be better than that.
My hands are for healing... Not for hurting.
"...I... I'm so sorry," he choked out. "I just... Did something so horrible... I... I..."
The floodgates opened. Lucian burst into tears.
He wasn't supposed to use his fists. Not like this.

Mei's head fell towards her shoulders as a more neutral, but slightly concerned look stared at the now currently breaking down Lucian.
I mean... She didn't really care about the attack honestly, she never expected an apology and would've let it slide. She deserved it anyways, she'll admit that.
She let him cry for a moment before saying something, noticing that Darcy wasn't doing anything. "Huh? Sorry for what?"
She acted oblivious, but as always, that was just an act.
"Hey, that was a solid throw, I'm impressed! Besides, I'm just a living punching bag anyways! Hehe, I know, I've been told I have a very punch-able face~" She giggled then moved over to Lucian and Darcy, still pulling Mika along with her.
She could tell, her grip was getting slightly weaker.
She pulled them all together, completely forgetting the existence of Idris, almost like she was getting them ready for a photo. It wasn't necessarily a group hg, she just huddled them together. "Come on, get over it! It's fiiiiiine! Nothin to worry about, seeeeee!"
This is the closest Mei will ever get to comforting someone.

Rumia chewed on the paper. It tasted like the corpse of a tree, with a hint of lavender-scented ink and sea salt.
She savored the crisp paper, each bite bringing a satisfying crunch.
Just from the paper's taste and texture, Rumia could tell that the person drawn on it was from a deep, dark place, lost to all of humanity for eternity.

Mei looked up from whatever she was doing and noticed Idris leaving, a frown was made in reply. "Heyyy, Idris!" She whined, throwing her hand in the air and frantically waving it back in forth to try and call him back. "You can't leave, you coward! Come on, it'll be fuuuuun!" She called out, unable to actually chase after him.

Lucian Arbred's POV
Lucian KNEW it wasn't fine. He didn't want to be like that. He didn't want to be like... them.
Lucian Arbred was the Ultimate Therapist. He was supposed to help people, not hurt them. Mei's words wrung in his ears. "Aren't you supposed to comfort people?..."
He was. He was supposed to comfort people. He was supposed to comfort everyone here. And despite what Mei said, it felt like nothing could apologize properly for what he'd just done.
But there was no use in dwelling on it, if she had accepted the apology.
"...yeah. Solid throw," he murmured. "...thank you."
Lucian forced his body to go along with the "group photo" thing. He couldn't help but wonder why Mei was so obsessive about keeping them all together. Maybe she just wanted to know the chaos that might ensue?
Then he remembered, the needle Mika plunged into Mei. Probably some sort of slow-acting drug, or anesthetic. He could've sworn he'd seen something like that before...
He shook the thought away. No, there was no point in remembering that. They all had to search the school. Lucian spotted Idris, glad to finally see a more familiar face.
"you don't have to come with us if you don't want to, okay? We'd appreciate your company, but I don't want to pressure you."
Lucian stood up with a sigh. "...where should we search first?"
Darcy Harper's POV
Darcy didn't know how to respond to what had just happened. But, they couldn't help but admire Lucian's response. They felt Mei closing in, for a sort of pose. Their face flew into a grimace, which they forced into a smile.
"Oookay! Let's go search the school! Maybe we should search the rest of the dorms first?" they asked. Then Darcy let out a seemingly random, nervous laugh.
Probably in an attempt to calm themself down.
Mei probably wasn't of any real danger. After all, they were traveling in a group. It's not like she'd just kill all of them, right? Or... frame someone else for the crime?
They wouldn't put it past her. Darcy breathed a sigh. I really don't want to deal with this right now.
"Which- dorms have you guys not investigated yet?"
"...don't look at me. I randomly came across them in Kubo's dorm."
"I wasn't talking to you, Lucatic."
"Lucatic? So a Lucian breed of lunatic?" His eyebrows raised.
"Um! Sorry, sorry. I don't know why. It just came out..."
Lucian breathed heavily out. He waved a hand. "Let's... just go search the school. Mei, Idris, where should we go first?"

"Hey, you don't have an excuse!" She shot, furrowing her eyebrows and frowning.
She didn't like it either, but here she was.
Because...
Well, she hated to admit it, but she wasn't the same as when she walked in here. Sure, she had been heavily desensitized, and nothing about her mind was normal, but...
I mean, she could still make jokes, she could still be an asshole, that was good enough, right?
She broke away from everyone else, hopping from side to side as everyone decided on where to go, her movements were getting slightly groggier.
She had been sedated before and shook it off easily but this... This was something else...
Mei had to be sure that this ended ok, as crazy as she was, she didn't want to die this early. Who knows, if she was alone, she was an easy target.
Mei wasn't scared of death, she was scared of a boring one, after all. Dying while sedated isn't the best way to go, she had to admit.
She looked over at Darcy with wide, eager eyes and a smile, but behind that face was concern. Darcy was acting different, she was making more and more of those comments... If this was anyone else, she'd be perfectly fine with it, hell, she'd be encouraging them, but...
Oh why did she care, chaos was chaos.
"Hmm... We checked out that quiet green-haired guy's room, mine too! And also Idris's and..."
"Nope, that's it, but it's gettin' kinda boring... Let's go upstairs, she if we can find anything!" Her words were as jumpy as her, unable to sit still and full of energy.
Without waiting a response, she skipped her way ahead of the group and toward the stairs, still dragging Mika along. Right now, he could easily get away with how loose her grip was, but her menacing aura could've possibly prevented his escape, who knows. She gave herself enough distance from Darcy, Lucian, and Idris so that they could talk without her hearing, if they even wanted to talk at all.

"...you've? I'm listening."
"It's a number of things. See, I... you know when, you want something, but you can't have it? Like... multiple things? And you don't... even know if you deserve them?"
"...that's... very vague, but, yes."
Darcy made a pouting face. "But, I- the thing is, I don't want to say what it is! Because, these things... they're stupid, and embarrassing and... sinful."
A look of realization seemed to come upon Lucian's face.
Lucian Arbred's POV
The question was... was that related to the problems? Were they all interrelated, or separate?
"...if you don't want to say it in front of everyone, you can tell me later."
He followed after Mei, his hands in his pockets once more. Where would they all travel, upstairs?
Darcy looked somewhere else. "...okay."
