Her eyes widened. "You think I killed her? I didn't even know her all that well. You make a good point, I- would've known about poisons. But what motive do I have?" But, then she realized something else. She was one of the people who was cooking... "I admit... I am a potential suspect. But I swear, I didn't kill her!"
Suzume nodded at Megami's observation. "Would anyone who didn't cook have been able to kill Nagisa? I find it unlikely, but I was wondering if there's any way it could've been possible. It seems like the poison was cooked into the food, right?"
Or was that just an assumption? Suzume sighed in frustration. She didn't know if she was reasoning by her own logic or actual evidence.
She swallowed, nervously... so, someone thought she'd killed Nagisa, huh?
It's not that she wouldn't. But she had no reason to.

Keiki turned away. They thought for a moment. They flicked their hair back like they were on a catwalk, took a deep breath, and turned back around.
"It's fine. It- It's upsetting for all of us-"
They sighed.
"Any idea on how- how Nagisa died-?"
I don't even know who this person's name is-
Keiki smiled a little. "What's your name, sweetie-?" They paused. "I mean- if we're to work out who this killer is-I surely can't address you as simply- 'you'- can I-?"
Niwa Atsushi
Their eyes widened a bit. They felt a blush creeping up on their face. They gave it a brisk shake. No! Bad Niwa! No- no flirting when people are going to die! Anyway, the cutie is just being friendly- so be quiet.
"Niwa. Niwa Atsushi." They decided against a bow. "Ultimate Swordsman."
"I disagree," Hisoka said to Megami. "Surprise can be faked. And anyway, since when were you two so close? You dislike him just as much as I did." His eyes narrowed slightly. "As much as Nagisa should have, before she was poisoned by the man who specifically chose the people to do the cooking."
"Can we debate something else?" Amano cut in, almost begging. "Like, the cause of death or something? Please?" He looked on the verge of tears.
"That sounds great," Niwa said desperately. "Let's just- talk about something else."

Hisoka narrowed his eyes at Megami. "I wasn't in the kitchen," he said coolly. "I refused to cook food. Like a servant."
Niwa ducked his head a bit, avoiding Keiki's eyes. His face was growing more flushed by the minute. "Yeah... um.. On the topic of the case." He breathed out, turning his attention from Keiki. "I personally believe that the poison was administered at a different time than the cooking. It was poured over the food. Which. Was like, delivery. If the killer had their way, it'd probably be mixed in. So it couldn't be detected, even on a slight chance."
He fiddled with his fingers. He hoped it was the right thing to say. "I think Megami has a point. About Amano, I mean. And... a lot of other things. What she said about the cause of death makes sense."

"We were allies. Friends, almost. But I... I didn't have a very deep relationship with him. I didn't want him dead." He bit his tongue. "She didn't deserve that."

Alibis, eh? He gnawed on the inside of its cheek, slicing open the cut mark that'd already been there. He grimaced slightly. "I... Well, I wasn't in the kitchen. And I didn't have much of an opportunity to poison her food. At least not without..." He trailed off. "I mean, all our food..."
Why was talking so hard? Being stoic was hard... when you really had to share a point. But he had to keep going. "All the food at our table had the oil on it," he said softly. "Not just... Amano's or Nagisa's."
Hisoka's head snapped up. He stared at Niwa for a long moment. Niwa squirmed a bit, looking away. "I don't really have much an alibi though. That's off-topic."
Hisoka Yamanaku
Hisoka's mind was awhirl. All of them? All three of them? That... certainly sowed holes in his theory, but... "I didn't go near her food at any point. I was against the wall the entire time. They cooked their own food. Everybody in the cafeteria can cover for me. I had no way to poison her."
Poison... Poison poison...
That didn't click into place properly any more. Hadn't- hadn't Amano said-
"I was cooking only for myself," Chika cut in. "I never touched their dishes."
"I was with Femi!" Suko chirped.
"I don't have an alibi," Amano stated quietly. He ignored Kowai. "But I swear it wasn't me. No matter what she says, I wouldn't hurt any of you."
And then Femi was screaming. Hisoka cringed. He didn't like loud noises very much. His delicate ears weren't made for such uncouth things. He grimaced, and hoped the other would stop.
The words were directed at Suko, it seems. The person's smile only grew brighter with each word, even though the light in their eyes grew dimmer. "Aww, I didn't know you felt so passionate! I'm sorry, Femi. I didn't mean to make you feel bad or anything. I wouldn't really kill anyone. And-" Suko paused. Their smile grew. "Aww, nothing else! I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me."
"Puhuhuhuu~ Such a heartfelt confession." Monokuma. The bear was leaning forward on his throne, button eyes fixating on the students below. "How boring! There're no thrills in this! I might just skip to voting time if you all can't lighten up!"
Hisoka bristled. He carefully reminded himself. The bear couldn't do anything. If he wanted true entertainment, then he wouldn't end it here. The mastermind was trying to set them on edge.
And gods, was it effective.
"Yes, let's get back to the debate." Hisoka didn't fancy dying. "Does anyone have any theories on how it went down? We might be able to backtrack. And if there's any discrepancies in what we know so far..." He trailed off. The words had a certain light to them. Like the one that'd come earlier.
His brow furrowed.
What was it? What was his brain refusing to piece together?
"Something isn't adding up for me. It seems to be very obviously, cyanide, but- WAIT A MINUTE! THE MARK ON THE REPORT IS ON THE NECK, BUT WITH CYANIDE POISONING IT WOULD'VE ENTERED THE BLOODSTREAM! WHAT IF THE BITTER ALMOND SMELL WAS TO THROW US OFF!?"

Hisoka's eyes widened. His mind was whirling. Cyanide... Poison... All plates...
In an instant, he knew.
"She wasn't poisoned," he spat. "Something else happened to her. Something unique to her alone." He whipped on Niwa and Amano.
Niwa visibly flinched. Amano stared back, gaze betraying nothing.
"One of you- which is it? You knew something about her- some way to kill her. Something the rest of us wouldn't know." His brain tacked on a few points. "Something she couldn't eat, maybe? You baked a dish she couldn't eat, Amano?" His glare pierced the other. Amano finally looked away. "Megami's right. That was a red herring."
He checked himself. He was being too emotional. Agreeing with too many people. But, when it all came down to it... he was right, from the beginning. It was satisfying, to finally drag someone down from their throne.
"Amano Tetsuo killed her," he stated coldly. "He did something to her, that only he knew." From the way Niwa's eyes widened, he knew he was right. This was it. The solution he'd known from the moment he saw Amano.
He'd seen a murderer, and this was all the proof he needed.
"Of course... Holy shit." I stood silently staring. My mind was a blender of emotions. Relief, betrayal, terror, the sudden realization of the reality of this situation. Anyone could hide a secret. No one's safe. Only two of us make it out alive, and one of them is the person who organized this death game.
