Mabel Pines

The Mystery Shack was silent as death.

Not entirely, of course. There was the trickling of the fish's filtration system. Wind whistling through the thin walls of the creaky building, craving each and every eerie howl it produced. A thin, keening sound that sounded only too like a predator searching for its prey.

If one were to creep through this moaning room, they would see a staircase. And upon climbing it, a row of doors, one of which concealed a terrified girl behind.

In her bed, Mabel trembled, listening to the monstrous sounds from below. She still couldn't get her words from the previous night out of her head- those horrible words, just ringing in her skull.

Her hands pressed against her ears and she rolled over in bed.

Beside her, Dipper's bed lay very still. She recalled the time, back when they were children, when she could've woken him up and asked him. A time ago she would've been able to go to his side and shake him awake. Confide in him her fears. What thoughts plagued her- he'd be so proud of her using that word- maybe if she used more big nerdy words more often he'd remember he had a sister, right?

But now, she couldn't even get out of bed to wake him. Tell him that the problems she faced- were because of him. And even that was selfish.

She was sitting up in bed before she even realized it.

"Hey, Dipper?" she whispered softly. "You awake?"

Fiddleford McGucket

Meanwhile, off in on the other side of town, a man wielding a crown of hair only on his chin, was clacking away on a "portable computer", his brow furrowed with intensity. Beside him, an enormous scarecrow hat lay perched, the tip slightly drooping.

He leaned back in his makeshift chair, a satisfying creak coming from the feet. The portable computer had a timer on it- one of which he was very concerned.

Dip wasn't worried, he thought, even with the jumbled, sleepless-entangled thoughts tumbling through his brain like white noise. But even despite his thoughts, a frown settled upon his face. He shut the portable computer closed and turned to gaze out his open door.

The teenagers weren't coming. That was right fine, of course, but the nights did get lonely, particularly when his brain was in overdrive like this. Overdrive. He nearly chuckled. A kid's saying. Maybe old F-

The colour from his eyes faded. He almost regretted keeping his memory with those kids. Almost. Regret- guilt- all those emotions came with the people. Even the people he could only remember a wisp of brown hair from. And a name.

He got out of his chair, and walked out to the door. The creaking of crickets greeted him. It was nearing the end of summer. The end of many summers, most of which he couldn't remember.

Something caught his attention- the moon was half-full. Ehh...?

He hadn't noticed the moon in a long time, he reckoned. Certainly not since he came here, to Gravity Falls.

Fiddleford watched, his heart in his throat, as it slowly lurched up into the side, suspended by forces he knew only too much about. But there was a strange beauty in not knowing. The theories the ancients came up with, or even his cousin who F was so vehement about being stupid.

He started to smile to himself-

And then it was wiped off his face.

The moon... why hadn't he seen it before?

It was yellow. It was foreign.

Before he knew it, he was walking backwards, his mind all a jumble again. Nonono- With hunched shoulders he seized the door and slammed it shut behind him, proceeding to collapse on his chair.

Oh god.

And a new wave of memories washed over him. Something having to do with the portal- the first thing he wanted to forget.

He didn't think he'd get any more sleep tonight. He felt that something might haunt his dreams, real or not.

Would anyone get any sleep tonight?

(I'm now playing Wendy and Candy :D )

Wendy Corduroy

Wendy had recently gotten a job at this strange tourist attraction, the Mystery Shack. She didn't mind all the fake exhibits. But recently, that summer she had met the Pine Twins. Had some adventures with them. They were... fascinating.

And then, another thing happened. Some portal opened, and some dude just stepped through. Atleast that was what Soos told her, in the middle of the night on the phone.

And then, the next day, she had met Stanford. She had called him "Stan #2" which she thought was an appropriate name.

Stanford "Ford" Pines's POV

Within the laboratory hidden in the basement, a bit of another realm in itself, a beyond brilliant elderly scientist paced about his experiments and projects, frowning about the possibilities of the upcoming threats. A great many thoughts mingled within the crevices of his mind, threatening to surface within actions. This man, at the very moment, was working on something... something important. Specifically, he was taking something apart, rather. In order to contain something that could spell doom for all of humanity.

Something that... he- no. He didn't. He couldn't think like that. Snap out of it, Stanford! He grunted and sighed as he began pulling the pieces apart, ever so carefully, however frantically. He thought back on those he had met here, at-- his former home of research. THAT HAD BEEN SO UTTERLY MANGLED BY- Oh, drat. A dent in the wall.

He had punched it, he supposed, in his anger. Stanford sighed, and clapped a hand to his face, shaking his head. Precisely what he'd done to Stanley when he came through the portal... okay, so, he did feel bad about that. But how was he supposed to react?!

Then there were the... hairless gopher? The kids. His great-niece and nephew that had been so foolishly put into Stanley's care! It was a miracle they were even still alive, with such a fool for a caret- No, no. He was still his brother.

He was unsure how to feel about the boy. Stanford had discovered that Dipper had trashed his journal, and used it as a personal diary of sorts. Ugh. He hadn't had a chance to look over the damage yet, nor did he want to... after all, there were much more pressing matters.

Stanford couldn't afford to think about others. Not Stanley, not his niece or nephew, not some strange, goofy employee... and certainly not... not F. Not F.

No, would Tesla let himself get preoccupied with something like this? Of course not! So he proceeded to continue dismantling the portal. However, these people didn't seem to leave his mind as he worked, even with the other potential calamities that had weighed upon him ever since his brother had reopened the portal...

Mason "Dipper" Pines's POV

Dipper Pines opened his eyes to the sound of a voice. A certain familiar voice, in particular. One that typically came to him in many forms, those of teasing jibes, those of light-hearted jokes, and sometimes in a very irritating fashion. Although he had mixed feelings about this voice, it was of course, one that he had grown quite familiar with, one that he heard quite often, and one he didn't wish to live without. The voice of his sister, Mabel.

Dipper yawned. "No, but I am now. What is it, Mabel?" He was slow to wake at first, but then his joints started to shake as they so often did in their "noodly" fashion. Although he looked tired, a billion questions prevented themselves in his mind, a billion thoughts, a billion theories. Right now, he really, really wanted to go downstairs and talk to the author!! Who was his great-uncle!? Okay, whoa, whoa, breathe! Breathe! But- of course, he’d listen to what his sister had to say, first...

Stanley “Stan” Pines’s POV

An elderly con-man great-uncle awoke to the obnoxious beeping of his alarm clock. With a groan, he smacked the snooze bar, and slowly forced his aching bones out of bed. “Alright, Stan,” he told himself, “It’s another day! So it’s time to get out there and sell some more deals that are unfair!”

He broke out in laughter at his terrible rhyme, and then he stopped. He glanced over at a picture of Dipper and Mabel, and sighed gruffly. Ugh. Stanford. What had that college gone and done to the nerdy brother that he loved? And Dipper was obsessed with him!

He didn’t care for the dumb journals, and… after he spent so much of his life trying to bring him back… Stanford hadn’t even bothered to thank him! Stan shook his head. He couldn’t waste his time thinking about this. But it still hurt.

So, he forced himself to shower and get dressed in an orderly fashion, and head on down to the Mystery Shack to open ‘er up! But no matter how much he tried, he couldn’t wipe his problems from his mind…

Jesus “Soos” Ramirez’s POV

”Whoop-a-doop-a-doop-a-doo…” Soos, of course, was already at the Mystery Shack, never slacking on the job, even pre-opening. The goofy man-child was already sweeping the dusty floors of the Shack, and then he noticed Stan stepping into the room, and shortly began to recall the events that had unfolded recently. “Oh! Good morning, Mr. Pines!” he said cheerily with a wave.

“Morning, Soos,” Stan grunted, seemingly forcing himself to the “Open” sign so he could flip it out and the customers could see they could come inside; and be scam- er, be bedazzled, by wonders! Soos frowned. “Is something the matter, Mr. Pines?” he asked, while spraying and wiping the windows. “Oh, of course there is, Soos! That slacker Wendy hasn’t showed up to work yet!” Stan, or in this case, Mr. Pines, snapped.

“Maybe she’s on her way now?” Soos offered. But, there was something else bothering him… Wendy brought back the subject of Stan 2. Stan 2 was the cause of Stan’s distress, wasn’t it? Well, there had to be something Handyman Soos could do to fix it! Maybe once he finished tidying up here, he could get into action!

“What are you smiling about, Soos?” “Nothing, Mr. Pines!” For now, he continued cleaning the shack, but Soos knew what he was smiling about. He knew what he was going to do. He was going to do what he did best- fixing stuff!

Wendy Cordurouy

Wendy sat up in her bed, groaning. She looked around, locating her alarm clock. She had woken up late, but she didn't mind. "Just another day at work-" She grumbled. She quickly got dressed into some nice plaid then walked out of her house, getting some exercise before getting to work. She didn't care for being late to work, however.

Mabel Pines

A pang jabbed into her heart at his voice. "It's nothing, Dipper," she lied. "I was just thinking about how strung-up you got last time you met one of your idols!" She forced a giggle. "You're such a nerd! Just lay off a bit, 'kay? You've still got Stan and me-" she said. "Two Grunkles plus your totally amazing sister for the price of one."

She lifted her head above the blanket and smiled at him in the dark. A little snuffle came from under the bed. Waddles had evidently failed in his attempt to steal her carefully hoarded stash. That was mine, no matter how cute your chubby wittle pig face! she crowed internally, trying to hide a giggle. I won it! Death shall be upon those who try and steal my candy!

"You don't want to leave us," she prompted, her smugness cooling off and being replaced with something else... fear? "Right?"

Fiddleford H. McGucket

Morning had arrived. Fiddleford cracked an eye open. And then swung up on his bed, hopping to his feet. "Mornin', world!" he sang to a dismal black sky as he jerked open the door.

His bandaged hands found the cracks on the wall and with a "yaworoooza!" he'd hopped around and started climbing.

Already, across the street, a window snapped open and an old woman yelled, "DO IT AGAIN, HILLBILLY, AND I'M CALLING THE POLICE!"

He ignored her. It was his duty! No one would circumvent him.

On top of the roof, he lifted his head to the sky and cried out-

"ROOSTER ROOSTER ROOSTER ROOSTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!"

The window snapped shut. His face went pale. The lickity pan's comin' for me!The town's beloved rooster was about to face a dismal, roasted death at the hands of a meat-eating witch!

"Aieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" The window remained firmly shut. Cautiously, he peeked up past the totally functional chimney that he had designed for no clear purpose. Was the witch gone? Was he going to be roasted into a nice soup?

"Try an' git me now, you hornswaggling rooster-cooker!" He cried triumphantly.

A Certain Rooster-Hating Woman.

She sobbed. Why had she chosen to take her retirement in her crazy town? She'd gotten more grey hairs from this than all her years in the mines combined.

Everyone here was nuts.

It was best to accept it. But this? Why her? Why was she specifically targeted? Why was her childhood fear of birds being brought upon in the bird-freest capitol in the state?

Wendy's Pov

Wendy arrived at the Mystery Shack with a huff puff. She pushed the door open, and it gave off a little creak before being shut. She looked over at Stan, regaining her breath and said " 'Sup, Stan?" She then took her place off at the register, pulling out a magazine.
