She stirred. Her breathing slowed. And her eyes fluttered open.
She sat up on her bed and glanced about herself. She seemed to be looking for something. Her hand reached up and smoothed down her ragged, splayed hair.
She heaved a sigh and stood up off the bed.
Oh right. Here, Majoree thought as she made her way across the room, blearily wiping her eyes clear of sleep. She needed to dunk her face in some water, or something...
And then something caught in her throat and she whipped about.
The door was open. Somebody was standing in the entrance.
Majoree went stiff all over.
"Who's there?" she demanded. She crept closer, clutching her pastel pink nightgown, her other hand clenched in a fist, prepared to knock the lights out of-
That creep.
She stopped. It was...
Oh yes, she recognized that hideous plume of hair.
"Hello!" Fawna exclaimed.
Majoree turned the corner. Fawna paused at the junction, watching her go down the stairs. "Well- bye, then!"
Grudgingly, Majoree raised a hand in a sort of half-wave and hurried down the steps, careful not to trip over her low-hanging nightgown.
Fawna turned away from her. The ugly feeling was back. Fawna smiled. Then after a moment, they went down to Greg's bedroom and knocked resoundly on the door.
Majoree appeared in the kitchen with an enormous yawn, slouching against the counter. After a moment, she noticed Kaydi and gave a sleepy smile. "Hi, Kay..." she mumbled. "Morning."
Luther was still fast asleep in his bed, his gangly brown limbs spread across the sheets. He gave several quiet, burbling snores, almost like the sound a kitten might make.
Suddenly, he gave a very loud snore, then he gave a stir. His eyes opened. He glanced around the room, blinking, confused.
At the kitchen, Kaydi saw Mouse and said, "Good morning Mouse, did you have a good night sleep?", Kaydi asked politely as she continued to set up breakfast. After the bagels were warmed up, she placed them on the plates and after the fruits were washed up she poured it to the bowl hoping that every single patron will be happy with the breakfast.
"'Twas okay..." Majoree watched her assemble the food with drooping eyelids. "You making breakfast?"
At the kitchen, Kaydi answered to Mouse's question, "Yes Mouse, I'm making breakfast I'm trying to make everyone's day better, I just finished the bagels and the fruits, and the next step for me is to make eggs and bacon for a fellow named Luther I just hope he will come", then Kaydi asked Mouse, "Would you like some tea or some orange juice?", Kaydi grabbed a pan along with some eggs and bacon and resumed her cooking.
Majoree narrowed her eyes slightly at the name, but gave a sharp nod. "I'll go with orange juice. Tea's too stiff." Her nose wrinkled slightly, almost in amusement. "And who wants to be that?"
Back upstairs, Greg responded to Fawna's question, "I actually like bagels, though I usually go to the bagel shop and grab some", Greg looked around the hallway and sees the stairs he begun to walk down the stairway cautiously hoping that he will not fall down.
Fawna hurried after him. "Hey, wait up!" they called. They grasped the back of his shoulder. "Don't leave me hanging- You like bagels, right?"
At the kitchen, Kaydi was continuing her cooking for the breakfast, she finished with the bacon and grabbed another plate and placed the bacon carefully, "The breakfast is ready to go, so please help yourself and enjoy the breakfast".
"Thank you." Majoree gave a nod of thanks and took a plate, before walking out of the room. As she did so, she passed an exhausted looking boy as he made his way inside the kitchen.
'Huh' He said under his breath. That was all he said before sitting down and engaging a conversation with her.
"So, you're a cook?" He asked. Evan seemed different from yesterday. More lively. He was smiling now, too.
