Gisela sighed. Great. This wasn't going very well. She'd
never apologized to anybody in her life before, and she wasn't
about to start now. "Well, what do you want me to do to prove I'm
sorry? Besides, the thing is, I think we might benefit from helping
each other out. Indirectly. Don't you think so too? I'm making you
an offer, Lin. We could find a way out of this stupid situation.
You know very well I didn't want to sign up for this. I couldn't
give two [this word has been censored, but I think people know what
it is] about anyone here, but what I'm asking for is an alliance.
We're two very powerful people here. So... what do you say?" Gisela
reached out her hand.
Kendall's POV
Kendall started sobbing even more. "Y-You- killed Xiao
Long? Ai Li... you- should've chosen me. I'm so, so sorry. I
can't... tell you what my task is... I don't think I'll even be
able to do it. If you'd- killed me, you could've made it out of
here, and- I- it's selfish. But I never would've had to- to come to
terms with what mine is." He couldn't do it, he couldn't. Why? Why
had this happened? He collapsed onto his knees, shaking and
sobbing.
"No," she said shortly. "It isn't." She dropped something at her
feet and kicked it off into the corner. Alexander watched it go,
then glanced at Isla. "I'm here to ask you both some questions,"
she stated. "Do you have a minute?"

"Tell me," she said back. The shadows in the corners were creeping
in closer. "I've soundproofed the room."
Alexander shook his head slowly. "We don't know that there isn't
something else at work," he said. "There could always be a magic at
play or even mechanical bugs."

"A-Ai- Ai Li?" Kendall stammered. Don't go... please
don't...
Gisela's POV
Gisela nodded, expressionless. Deep inside though, she was
smirking. Perfect. She put her hands on her hips after shaking
Lin's hand. "So. There's something I've been wanting to know for a
while now. To what extent are we not allowed to know each other's
tasks? That's the question. There could be some kind of loophole we
could exploit." Although... how do we test that without dying?
There has to be a loophole. "Do you have any ideas, Lin?" She'd
have to approach Isla, as well. But... probably not right
away.
