He sighed.

He stared at the ground.

Kaden sighed.

He looked at the ground.

"Good."

He shook his head slowly.

"I'm going to the changing rooms.

To change so I can swim.

And practice my powers.

They can come in handy in the water."


Kaden got up, picked his bag, and headed to the room to change.

Kaden sighed.

He reached into his bag, and pulled out his pills.

He hadn't told Adrik that he was ill again.

He wouldn't tell him.

Swallowing a couple, he hid the bottle in a hole in the floor.

Kaden put on his swim trunks, took his shirt off, and grabbed his bag.

He put his hands to his face, dizzy for a second.

He shook his head quickly, and walked out of the changing room.

Adrik's eyes lit up as he approached, but he simply gave Kaden a nod of greeting. He stood up. "So, uh, you going swimming? Should I-" he hesitated. "I didn't think of this."

"I... don't know, honestly. I feel like this isn't working... but I'm scared to move forward, y'know? I've never been the one to make choices." Adrik sighed and gave his head a brisk shake. "I've just always... kind of wanted this sort of thing, but it's never happened and now that it has, I don't know what I want to do. What I want out of it."

His eyes clouded over. "It's selfish, isn't it?" he asked quietly. "I know... And I'm sorry. I wish I..." he trailed off again and looked at his hands.

They stayed black.

Glinting menacingly.

Kaden's eyes, now a soft red, seemed to have a faraway look in them.

They glistened with tears.

"I don't know. Maybe... I do know. I feel like I don't, but I do, if that makes sense." Adrik sighed, then finally turned to look at him. He opened his mouth- then his eyes widened.

"Um- Kaden? Are you...?" His eyes scanned across him. "What's wrong?" His voice was rising with anxiety. "Kaden? Kaden?!"

Adrik was on edge now. He shifted from side to side, inching away from Kaden. "Yeah, uh... maybe you're right. I don't think you- you might be wrong." He hesitated again. "And me too. So.."

Kaden held a hand to his head, struck my dizziness.

He gritted his teeth.

I j-just, zoned out for a moment there."

He lied.

He smiled.

I'm going to swim now."

Kaden smiled again at Adrik.

He leaped into the pool, with a quick, graceful dive.

Adrik nodded, but didn't say anything. He watched him leave, but shortly before Kaden hit the water, he closed his eyes and stood up. You... His teeth gritted. He walked across the room, only opening his eyes shortly before he reached the door. He opened it, then stepped outside, closing it behind himself.

A few minutes passed.

Still underwater.

He smiled still.

He wasn't going to come back up.

She smiled, as she handed him his timetable.

The boy thanked her politely and headed out.

His gloves fingers flexed, as he scanned the area around him.

All alone.

He sighed, flicking his black and white hair behind his ears, and sat down..

Sasuki closed his sharp, grey eyes.
