"There's not much to look at here, sir. We all share the same
face."
“Look around. We’re one and the same. Same heart, same blood.”
"To me, you've always had a name."
“Today we fight for more than the Republic. Today we fight for all
our brothers back home.”
"I used to believe that being a good soldier meant doing everything
they told you. But we're not droids. We're not programmed."
"This ship is going down, and those soldiers, my brothers, are
willing to die and take you and me along with them."
"You're a good soldier, Rex. So is everyone of those men down
there. They may be willing to die, but I am not the one who is
going to kill them."
The 371st legion, consisting of 9,419 clone troops and headed by
Jedi Knight Kol Reddag, while often left forgotten, remained
forever in the memories of those fortunate enough to work with
them. With legions like the 501st, 212th and 104th, it's always
been easy to overlook the several of hundreds of legions fighting
in the war. The 371st happened to be one of them. As often expected
with a bunch of "background characters," the clones of this legion
are often assumed to be bland and unassuming. To any clone working
as a part of this battalion, however, it was different. Anyone who
was lucky -or unlucky- enough to meet this battalion would know.
There was never a calm moment when you were with this cheery bunch.
Each clone so wildly different, but still holding such fierce care
for one another.
A found family is what some called it. So that's what they called
themselves. Sure, they were, technically, family. But the point
still stood. They made each other happy, they made all feel
welcome. They drove most everyone up the walls. Just as family
tends to do, they got into fights. Often ridiculous. There were
quite a few infamous incidents, still whispered in the halls during
down time. Though some of those clones may be gone, their memory
lives on in the form of a wild tale, telling of a rather strange
dispute. Due to the obscurity of the 371st, they didn't need to
fight as many battles. They didn't have to fight battles to give
others hope. Yet every battle they fought was smiles, hidden behind
a steely helmet, painted in the 371st's viridian green colors.
No brother was ever truly lost. They lived on through the force,
according to the word of their general. Most clones never fully
understood what that meant, but it was a comfort all the same. If
you passed by a soldier who had lost a close brother, it would not
be uncommon to hear a certain saying. "Even as he did in life, he's
watching you with the brightest grin on his face." The clones would
often be reminded of old times, and they would continue to smile.
They would bring that same joy to all around them. Things were okay
in the 371st. They always have been, and will continue to be,
thanks to the effort of all the clones.
