Kaida, still clutching Snowy close, had shifted back into her human form, since she figured that if these Outsiders were to turn everyone in, a baby dragon would probably be the most obviously-not-a-normal-human thing they could think of.

Meloni, or Loni as she preferred to go by, had woken up late, immediately going to get some breakfast, as well as some water. As she ate, she heard the Masked Man's voice on the loudspeakers, and rolling her eyes, she headed to where the barracks were, taking the rest of her food with her.

Clenching a fist, 19 took a deep, shaky breath, and stood, shoving his fear away and plastering a look of cold indifference on his face. Leaving the plate of food behind, he strode cooly through the Community, his blue eyes focused directly ahead, making no contact with those of any others. The boy showed no evidence of any outward emotion, and this of course was intentional, the ability to do so flawlessly being the result of many years of practice. He didn't even hesitate before entering the Barracks.

"Right.. well I've only ever heard of them, but I'll try," 7 slowed down into a brisk pace taking the lead "this way."
She followed a stone path which she had heard the sky spirits call 'sidewalk'. Occasionally she would stray to the side to let an outsider pass and in these interactions she couldn't help but stare. Massive mechanical beasts who traveled down the larger stone path with other outsiders trapped within them also took her interest. They were called 'cars' she recalled. But she had to focus. It didn't take long until a large building with an even larger stone lot with the word 'Walmart' plastered against the wall came into view. She stopped to look behind her "almost there!"

A man waited for both of them in the entrance to the Barracks, blocking most signs of what went on inside. He was tall and muscular, with an imposing look about him. A long scar ran from the tip of his head to the edge of his chin, causing one eye to be pure white, with a greyish center where one might see a pupil and iris. He looked at both of them for a long minute, not saying anything. Finally, he spoke. "My name is X. I am the head of the Soldiers, the ones that protect your kind." Pulling a piece of paper out of his pocket, the man tipped his head to read it. "The Masked Man has decided that sending human guards is not enough. He wants you two to become part of a small team. 19, 9, the two of you have received a great honor. You will become part of the first group of Soldiers with abilities. You will be joined by one more, a veteran who has been training and was really the first Soldier and up until now, the only one with an ability." He looked up and gestured behind him. "Say hello to 1." 1 was a skinny, short man with greasy black hair pulled into a ponytail. A toothpick stuck out of the side of his mouth, and he spit it onto the ground and crushed it with one of his feet. "Well, who's ready to catch some runaways?"


5 followed hesitantly, feeling much smaller than before. When she was in the Community, 5 could be a lot more confident because she had literally grown up there. She was now in a completely different world, one that was as foreign to her as anyone else. 5 tried to hide her uncertainty and fear, she didn't want anyone to know. They couldn't. She had to go forward into the unknown with a brave face. Still, the huge metal monsters terrified her. What was up with them?!

Slightly shocked but also taking this as a sign that the Masked Man remained unaware of his late night excursion the night prior, 19 nodded stiffly to X and 1. He deemed it better in this situation to say nothing, to make it clear that he would be the quiet type, but he did force a look of determination and resolution upon his face. Internally, his emotions raged. He would be sent after the escapees, then. Would he go along with the rules, as he had for so long? Allow himself to be an instrument, a tool? What about the girl apparently called 9 to his right? Sure, he would accept this, go along with it, be a Soldier. But if it came down to it, and he wasn't so naive as to believe it wouldn't, would he hurt those who he admittedly admired for their courage to take the leap and flee?

Taking a bite of her food, Loni nodded. She figured that apparently a few of the others broke out while she slept in. She would've gotten out as well, but alas, she was asleep, and even if she did join them, that would tear down her entire "good guinea pig" act she's been playing just to lay low. She didn't really want to simply become another one of the Masked Man's tools, no more than an instrument, a plaything. She'd probably have to consult Kensuu on the matter. Kensuu was what she called her beast, the creature that resides in her pocket dimension she can access. She's always considered it to be somewhat of a parental figure to her, the only one she could really tell her deepest secrets to.

Marusaki looked around. “Where are we?” She asked, remembering about the dog souls that were still trapped in the bodies. She took the spirits out with a flick of her wrists.

"Walmart!" 7 took a moment to look over her party before moving on. Some had visible unease, noticeably so did 5. Although 5 tried to hide it 7 was an adept face reader. But now wasn't the time to comfort each other. Besides, 7 was worried just as much herself. She had to stay calm though. Especially if she needed to ask the sky spirits something.
"Wait- where's the uh.. boy?" 7 was obviously surprised that they had managed to leave one behind.

“I think we left him behind in trying to get to the outside community.” Marusaki replied, mad at herself for forgetting someone. “Well, we can’t go back. If we do, I’m pretty sure something bad’ll happen to us.” She added.

5 had been lost in her own worries and hadn't realized that the boy had disappeared. That was not good. What if he had somehow managed to get lost, and the Soldier had found him? 5 never trusted anyone, so immeadiently the suspicion popped in her head that the boy might turn them in. Who knows? Just because he had acted like he wanted to escape didn't mean that he really was telling the truth. "I don't believe it. I don't just leave people behind, not when he knows where we're going and where we are." 5 shook her head. "I have to go after him. We can't risk him giving us away."

Kaida was mostly just looking around at... whatever those strange metal things were. She might've seen a few of those things in the past, but that was ages ago, and she doesn't remember many details from before she was taken away.

Loni looked at 1. "So... I'm assuming a few have escaped while I was sleeping this morning... Can I at least finish breakfast before we leave?"

"Does he know where we're going or where we are though? We don't know when we separated, maybe he doesn't know about Walmart? Even if he did I doubt he knows which Walmart. I'm pretty sure there are tons of them! That being said I doubt he'll turn us in... but what if it's a trap orrr you'll just end up getting captured instead?" 7 was more concerned about loosing another troop rather than the boy turning them in. He didn't even look half as smart to pretend he wanted to help the escapees. And if he truly wanted to re-capture them he would have acted on it at the hut. "let's be smart about this. Maybe I can ask the wind to look for him first? But only after we're safe and hidden." 7 disliked the idea of leaving the boy out there yes, but patience and preservation is key. They couldn't risk acting recklessly.

5 ran a hand through her short hair, sighing. "Fine." She wasn't used to working as a team or listening to others. But 5 could be reasonable. 5 could do this. "But where are we supposed to go?" Suddenly, she looked up in alarm. "Uhh, are you guys lost or something?" A boy around 5's age with curly hair and feet that looked to be about as tall as him was watching them curiously. "Are you like, tourists or whatever?"


1 grinned. "Sure, finish your food. But I think it's best we head out soon," he pulled another toothpick out of his pocket and stuck it between his teeth, "So the little escapees don't get far before the Masked Man's plan." He clasped his hands behind his back, still smiling. "Whenever you're ready."

"Oh uh, we're.. new to the area. So you could say lost. Just trying to find a place to stay!" 7 smiled and any tiredness she had in her expression and posture disappeared. She avoided the ladder question as she wasn't quite sure what a 'tourist' was. "why do you ask?" she knew that not everyone was as trusting as she was but if they could get at least some knowledge of the outsiders' ways then they'd be so much better off.

"I don't know?" Kaida answered. She hoped he wasn't too suspiscious of her, even though she wasn't in her dragon form, and just looked like some random teenage girl holding an old, stained, one-eyed fox plush that's obviously been through a lot.

"I'll be back in a minute," Loni sighed, before going around the corner, dumping her water onto the ground, and jumping in, with her food still in hand. Better tell Kensuu what's going on now and ask them how she can handle it.

The boy gave them an incredulous look. "Because you're standing in the middle of a Walmart parking lot looking lost?" He scratched the back of his neck. "I figured this was your first time in America or something, I don't really know." The boy glanced back behind him. "I kind of work here, and I figured I'd try and help you because my boss would just kick you out of here. He's kind of a jerk." 5 stared at him like he was speaking in a foreign language, which didn't help things.

The boy raised an eyebrow. "Don't you have phones? Well, uh, I guess you could go to the Town Hall. " He pointed down the road to a large white building with a clock.. "I think they have a place for tourists. If you have any questions, I get off work at 6 so I usually go to the Starbucks. It's right next to the Walmart, I guess." 5 got the hint, but his last sentence confused her. "Star-bucks?"

Eventually, Loni had come out of the puddle with an empty tray in her hands, heading back to the others. "Ok, I think I'm ready now."

Marusaki saw the boy, and Mausu did too. Mausu went into the body of a mouse and ran over to Murasaki. She picked him up and stroked him. “I guess you could say that.” She said, letting Mausu sit on her shoulders.
