Aelin is quite different from what one expects from a normal assassin, yet in many ways she does seem to embody the feral and malevolent air that one would expect of a person of her rank. It's a line many speak of in hushed tones, yet few are willing to truly walk it. Aelin is one of those people, coolly treading that careful line that divides light from dark, good from evil. Quite cultured and dignified, but there is a storm - a turbulent mass - that roils through her blood, that pours from her in waves. Cunning and deft in her skill, and haughty in attitude to the point of reclusion, Aelin is not a very approachable individual. She is a very broody, cynical and sardonic individual, always surrounded by a strange darkness. Being incredibly strong-willed and defiant has turned her into a live wire unable to comprehend the question of loyalty or sympathy; a more callous and dispassionate individual has never trod this earth. Her emotions are - like her - cold shadows of reality, her fear a calculating self-preservation complex, her selfishness a tainted crystal of perception.
Aelin is not a girl who was blessed with patience, and this has led her to many dead ends. She doesn't appreciate having to wait or to manipulate others for long periods of time. She takes what she wants with primal diligence, answering to no higher up. She is unnervingly quiet and enigmatic; most mistake her for a shadow or a snake rather than a person.

Odynokinesis - the simulation of pain. Aelin can induce a near crippling pain in the nerves of her opponents, though this pain is never fatal. This pain can be emotional, psychological or physical, though she really only specializes in physical or psychological pain; emotional pain is too complicated. Additionally, Aelin can use odynokinesis to diminish the pain and suffering that she or other people feel. But that doesn't mean that the pain is taken away completely, merely suppressed in an illusory manner. Should Aelin use this for too long, she can quickly burnout, which usually results in overexertion like symptoms. The first symptoms of a burnout is an intense stabbing feeling in her gut, similar to stitches but worse, as well as dizziness. Odynokinesis is a symbol of Aelin's malevolence and aggression, the dark, raw, fury that seems to drive each of her deeds. Her odynokinesis is also very well in tune with her emotions; more positive emotions tends to weaken it, and more intense emotions drive it.
Atmokinesis - the manipulation of the weather. Aelin is able to control the elements, be it snow, wind, rain or even the lightning at times. She has an enhanced connection to the air itself, able to sense changes in the air that may forewarn of a change in weather. She is also able to summon various meteorological patterns (rain, wind, hail, lightning, snow, sleet, fog, and temperature changes.) Not only can these do magical damage, but she is able to use these to confuse or disorient her opponents. Aelin's atmokinesis reflects her shattered state of mind, her instability and her derangement, the broken pieces of herself that won't ever be put back together lest her scars come to the surface. She's fighting her own demons still, and its a war that takes all her patience to win.

With an almost unnaturally pale complexion and shadowy dark hair surrounding her features, and cool haunted bourbon eyes, she looks more than a little ethereal. Her eyes are ... unsettling, seeming to stare right into your soul. She does somewhat have an hourglass figure, but due to a lack of food, she is irregularly thin.

Fallon is a cunning, resourceful female with an apparent penchant for aggressive and violent behaviors and tactics, though not necessarily to the degree of her ‘father.’ She has a sharp mind and street-smart instincts that have gotten her through life. Fallon pursues her goal with a dead-set focus that is very nearly obsessive. "Family obsessive" and strong-willed is definitely a great way to describe the cold female for she will use any means necessary to achieve her goal. Fallon is a too cynical and sarcastically inclined female, always wary of others, always alert, and still self-righteously proud. She lacks many of the necessary sympathy components and perhaps other attributes, even deranged and brutish fall short.
Despite the charisma and the glamour, Fallon's mind has been riddled with scars; sin and mental illnesses have left their mark on her young mind, and continuously haunt her. She is ambitious, brutish; even deranged doesn't describe her actions and desire to continuously prove herself to her father. And for good reason. Even if Bear is the closest thing she will ever have to a father, Fallon knows that he will never truly love her or the rest of their little ... band.
Fallon wears many many faces, many of which play to the innocence that most people would associate with her age. It's even better that she can fake a convincing smile or aura - covering up even the most vile of emotions. Fallon's a snake with honeyed words and bright eyes that seem to stare into one's very soul. This girl isn't noticed often, because she's merely a shadow on the wall to most people. But anyone in their right mind see through her facade - to the crumbling wall guarded by a million silver needles.
Fallon has learned that most of the gang members- most of her """""friends"""""" that work under Bear are brutish jackasses and cutthroats only out for themselves. She doesn't trust them any more than she trusts her 'father.' Nevertheless, Fallon has no difficulty keeping up with their nefarious, troublemaking antics, - despite being the only female to ever dare to work under Bear - and even excels in specific skills.
Fallon is not a female who likes to talk, merely observing in the background. She can blend in to the shadows almost seamlessly, as though she were a ghost, and stay unnoticed for hours on end, even in broad daylight. This has led to her becoming an immensely successful thief, only leaving traces that don't become visible until weeks later when her unfortunate victim realizes that what she stole is missing.

Nathaniel Tove [biological father - status unknown, presumed dead] She hasn't seen him in a long time, and all memories of him have faded over the years. Bear is extremely reticent over this topic, and when he does bring up her father, it's usually in a negative tense. To be fair, the fact that her father gave her over to Bear so easily is a bitter topic, and has festered into a grudge despite her best wishes. If her father were to see his daughter now, Fallon knows that he would no longer recognize her, for there is no denying that Fallon does indeed belong in Thaddeus's gang.
Isadora Lassiter Tove [mother - deceased] Fallon has
no warm words for her mother. Despite giving birth to her, Faline
was never truly involved in her daughter's life, and if anything,
found Fallon to be more or less a nuisance. The two never truly
bonded with each other, and when Isadora died, Fallon, only six at
the time, didn't find it in herself to grieve.
Thaddeus Beckard [foster 'father' - alive] Bear discovered Fallon when she was a mere seven years old, when her father was forced to surrender his only daughter to the cruel gangster when he fell into severe debt. However, it was within moments of Thaddeus seeing her and her background - of seeing the dark intrigue within the fae's eyes instead of fear - to decide to spare her. He became the most dominant figure in the fae's life - not any of the other gang members since she was kept pretty much separate - and even though she was relatively young at the time, he began to ruthlessly train her. After seven years, she was 'introduced' to the rest of the gang, although they don't see her often. After those seven years, it's undoubtable that her combat and killing skills are at their peak. She is Bear's secret weapon after all.

Upon first glance, Al is a character that just exudes a solar glow, as if he was the one chosen from birth to embody the sun. He naturally possesses a graceful, collected demeanor, and he is built attractively in a way that doesn't compromise the light-weight and athletic build associated with the shaliz'na. Al is a tall male, coming in at 6'1 and with large, razor-sharp talons crowning his hands, he can seem seriously intimidating. His claws are very similar to an avian's talons, and they possess an unnatural dexterity, even surpassing those of his breed. Scary as he may seem, however, it doesn't take long for this illusion to be dismissed, because unless he feels threatened, he usually has a very warm and open demeanor. Alastair is easy on the eyes, with fair skin, a shy, casual smile, and messy ebony hair. Unlike most of the Shaliz'na, he has not grown his hair to his shoulders, rather cutting it short to his chin.
Despite standing in a rather humanoid manner on two feet, he possesses striking alien traits, beyond those of his talons. Notably; deep golden raptor-like eyes, which grant him unnaturally sharp vision compared to humans, a thin layer of dove-grey down on most of his body and his massive wings are prime indications of his shaliz'na ancestry. His wingspan is colossal, around six meters when fully extended. As expected, his wings can be a huge hassle at times. Not only do they require constant preening so as to remain neat and fit for flight, but it makes it very difficult to get into small spaces without getting torn or ruffled. Moreover, he has to stretch them constantly to avoid pins and needles. But they do add another layer of emotion, and are a lovely sight regardless. In earthen terms, Alastair's wings can be compared to those of a northern harrier hawk. His wings are broad and narrow, perfect for flying at high speeds. On the inside, his wings are mostly a very pale grey, they do have a form of dark cinnamon speckling/mottling. There are muted auburn/tawny speckling along the marginal coverts that are similar to his hair color. His secondaries, primaries, and tertials have a dark black-coffee base. On the outside, his wings are a subdued silvery color, with lovely darker grey-brown banding that start along the middle and extend right down along to the tips of each feather. Al has made special adjustments to his gear in order to compensate for his wings. Undoubtedly, Al is especially proud of how 'beautiful' his wings have become, and prefers flight over long distance walking or running in many cases. He is very expressive with his wings, and uses a menagerie of gestures to convey emotions. In addition to that, Alastair has a large russet-inked tattoo resembling wings in nature, symbolizing his pride of his flight. His avian traits grants him a rather hollow and brittle skeleton structure, and as such, he weighs a lot less than what is expected.
Alastair is not the most extravagant character when it comes to apparel, but he too has his fair share of keepsakes and trinkets. In particular, he has a necklace with one half of a starbird crest, that dangles from his neck. The other half of a crest used to belong to his sister, although since her death, he has not been able to retrieve the other half. His clothing tends to be loose and open, with short sleeves and slits in the back for wings.
About
Alastair was a Shilva'Na child of the wind born on Shar'Ack. His wings came at a young age, and grew with him. Even from a very young age, the only thing he loved more than art, was flying. He flew whenever he got the chance, stretching his wings and muscles as much as he could before his mother called him back for lunch. It was as if the entire sky was his playground, from the trees to the canopy to the horizon. This enthusiasm was only shared by one - his older sister Soleil Silverspring. Having only learned how to fly a few days ahead of him, the two could frequently be seen soaring above the trees as fast as their wings would permit. Sometimes, he would even sneak out at night and fly then. To anyone looking, what he was doing was downright reckless, but injuries were somehow minimal. Bruises at worst. However, at the tender age of eight, Alastair's family surrendered him to the Jedi Order, having learned that their son was force-sensitive. It was not a forced affair by any means, but the thought of being torn apart from Soleil was quite a heart-wrenching experience. To this day, Alastair thinks that being separated from his family so early is what dulled his memories of them, since he didn't really get to see his family after that point. However, it was undeniable that the whole new 'world' of the Force was rather intriguing. His skills were rudimentary at best, mostly quick reflexes that helped him to avoid crashing into obstacles while flying. His restlessness often interfered with meditation, making force study difficult. Additionally, his rather clumsy nature - and propensity for knocking things over with his wings - made him the subject of teasing from many other younglings. Not a fun start. Usually, Alastair let them shove him around, having been taught that Jedi were meant to be pacifist users of the Force.

The first in his line to have this particular gift, though something very similar is shared by his sister, Caroline. It developed several years into his life, first manifesting when him and his brother was five. Not only is Rowan able to transform into an owl — in this case, a sooty owl — he also has many owl-like adaptations. In most cases, Rowan does not like to be seen shifting in public, so he tends to sleep an entire day away in owl form or go without shifting for an entire day. Rowan can summon sharp claws that extend from his hands and besides using them for climbing, he can also use them for self defense. His hearing is far stronger than any normal human; he can even hear mice from several feet away. This does mean however, that he usually wears ear protection, since loud noises can prove to be very unpleasant at best and agonizing at worst. Rowan can also make himself inaudible, that is, completely unable to be heard by others. This can be used in hunting, and if he wants to remain hidden. His final trait is night vision; the ability to see in low to almost no light. He just needs the faintest speck of light to make the darkness seem like a sunny day. However, his eyes soon become sensitive to bright flashes of light, which cause her eyes significant amounts of pain. When transitioning, he wears a pair of color=transitioning glasses, which help her eyes transition safely. Oh, and there isn't any guarantee he can shift either way fluently. He has natural predatory instincts, but for the most part, he keeps them in check when in his human form.
[ appearance ] Rowan is a tall person, standing at nearly 5'7 or 5'8 with fair skin. Despite being gifted, his humanoid appearance is completely normal, which makes hiding his special traits a whole lot easier. His pale face is framed by short dark brown hair, neatly groomed, that drops to his chin. The shade is similar to coffee in that it is so dark it appears to be black. He tends to wear more open though formal wear in public. He has striking pale brown eyes that seem to focus on the horizon at all times. He has the tattoo of a spotted owl on his left bicep.
[ personality ] Rowan is a stately persona, possessing a rather calm and dignified demeanor. He likes to think a few steps ahead of what he is doing at the most part, and for the most part, takes things with a 'long-game' attitude. He's considered to be quite stern, and unsurprisingly, he takes everything in life seriously. A taciturn person by nature who people usually spot working dedicatedly in the background. Despite being so stern, he is by no means mean-spirited. As long as you don't say anything too ridiculous or out of place, he's more than willing to explain difficult concepts to you, or simply give you the time of day if you want conversation. Rowan tends to push his emotions and personal desires out of the way whenever he is working, which makes him seem almost robotic in attitude. Additionally, he has a stubborn streak; he wants to do things by the book, to a fault. Outside of his work, however, Rowan is much more approachable. He has many brotherly instincts, and is an adventurer at heart. He enjoys finding refuge within nature, oftentimes within his owl form so he can avoid being badgered or looked at with suspicion. Rowan is an intense peruser of good literature, oftentimes carrying at least two to three fiction books with him at all times. Furthermore, in contrast to his grim and composed demeanor, if he finds out that his favorite author is about to release a new book, he can become absolutely giddy with excitement. Patient at heart, it can take a lot to make the male mad, and even more to get him to actually start shouting. He can give the cold shoulder to people he doesn't like, and unfortunately, he tends to hold a grudge for a long time. Don't try to apologize to him; he will judge you based more on actions than words. Rowan has a strong moral compass, and even though he holds people at arms length, the male tends to give people the benefit of the doubt the first time around.
Beneath his strong facade, however, Rowan is stricken with worry. His sister, Caroline, disappeared a year ago after getting on the bus to go to the tennis center where she coaches. No one has seen her since, and he consistently fears the worst. That she may not return at all. That she is probably dead. He has become a leading voice in the searches for the missing gifted, while at the same time trying to take care of her daughter, Amanda
[ history ] Rowan's gifted abilities did not manifest themselves at birth like most, but rather his sister Caroline and him began to show his first signs when he was six years old. He began to have trouble falling asleep during the nighttime, if he slept at all, and during the daytime he became so tired that it was hard to open his eyes. At first, he was prescribed melatonin for this, which helped for a period of time. But as the weeks and months passed, this grew steadily worse. His parents, loving and considerate as they were, had no idea what to do for their child, especially since Caroline seemed to be perfectly diurnal unlike her brother. Rowan was constantly exhausted in class, barely staying awake to hear what the teacher had to say, and his grades suffered as a result. Nothing the parents did seemed to be working, and the entire family was worried sick, Caroline especially. Eventually, Rowan switched over to online school, where he could take the night classes. There, he was able to get the same education on a schedule that worked better for him. Be this as it may, it was in high school - twelfth grade - that Rowan's family got the real wake up call as to what had happened to their son. While attending a party with his friends, Rowan's hearing and light sensitivity began to act up, and before he knew it, he'd passed out on the floor barely ten minutes in. Not only that, but when he was taken back home by his parents, they were utterly alarmed to find - instead of him - a sooty owl laying in the backseat, panting weakly. He had shifted unconsciously, overwhelmed by the sudden onset of his gifts. He was bedridden for six days straight, while his mother contacted a family friend, who also just happened to be a doctor, in order to find out what was going on. The truth came out: Rowan was gifted, and with none other than Strigiform Physiology. Much of his abilities and unusual behavior could be compared to those of an owl - which was also where his shifting came from. Like most owls, Rowan's circadian clock only allowed him to become active at night and he would have to sleep during the day to regain his energy. Caroline's gift — Raptor Physiology — had milder symptoms during its onset, and their mother and father learned to deal with it easily, pretending they had adopted two new raptors instead of children. All things considered, he still wound up getting a successful education and moving on to get (various) jobs; it's difficult to work one job if you're always on the night shift. His favorite jobs include librarian, bookstore clerk, and waiter. Rowan was not blind to the subpar treatment of the gifted by the world around them, and tries to keep his own abnormalities a secret. His family was much more tolerant of his gifts than most, especially since it just made him better at his job. But, considering his fragility and lack of experience in physical combat, he's just laying low, even more so since he heard about gifted going missing. At least the night shift pays well!
All was well until Caroline disappeared. She had told him that that she was headed for work one morning, and that they would go out to get takeout for dinner. He waited fifteen minutes past when they were supposed to meet, thought something was wrong, and called her phone. No answer. He called four times with no response - well unto ten PM and then decided to call some of her employees. She was gone. She'd simply dissolved into thin air without a trace. No one had even seen anything, and from what he gathered she's not the only one.
[ other ] A night owl is all senses of the world. He tends to stay up all night, and sleep during the day. His circadian cycle is pretty much flipped on its head.
Even though he likes raw meat, he tends to settle for 'medium rare' just to blend in.
