The Lugia was deeply focused, trying to sense whether or not the
plate was in the tree, though she wasn't practiced at all in doing
do, and could sense that the tree was there, but not anything about
its interior. Her eyes were half closed, but they glowed with blue
light, creating a small glow in which the others would be able to
see.
As Tidal shifted slightly, a faint sparkle reflected from the roots
of the tree, but she was too lost in concentration to notice.
The glow from her eyes flickered out as she broke concentration
with a sigh. "Trying to see if I can sense it; I'm used to only
using Psychic to lift stuff and sense whether or not I'm about to
run into a rock underwater, though, so it's not going well." She
was starting to feel a bit hopeless, but she knew that was just the
atmosphere of the swamp getting to her.
"Spark-?" She broke off, her eyes widening in realization. Quickly,
she started trying to scan the tree again, this time only doing so
in hopes of giving off enough light for Mystin to spot the plate,
as she knew using Psychic tended to.
She stared down at the roots, trying to focus on the anomaly in the
pattern of the tree that she could sense now that she knew where to
look. Reaching out her hand and furrowing her brow, she tried to
focus, though the noxious scent of the goo on the tree was throwing
her off. "Almost... got it..." she grunted. It seemed as if the
tree was actively trying to stop her from taking it, what with the
scent making her dizzy and nauseous-feeling.
Meka approached the glow, yanking Kate and Riko behind her. Maybe,
just maybe, they could help pull it out. After all, they could use
a plate right now
She barely even shook her head; she couldn't risk breaking her
concentration now. Suddenly, in the back of her mind, she sensed an
approaching presence, behind that of Meka, Riko, and Kate. It
seemed dark and shadowy, but also broken, in a way, and she could
almost imagine that she sensed a ring of light within it. But she
was sure that the light was just that, her imagination, and she
growled under her breath, able to guess who this was. Pushing the
presence away for the moment, she finally was able to grasp the
plate with Psychic. She created a grabbing motion with her hand,
then yanked it back towards herself. The Toxic Plate flew from the
roots of the tree with a crrack, sending shards of black,
sticky wood flying. She had to use more force than she had
expected, and the plate hit her in the chest, sending her stumbling
backwards. Taking a deep breath, the Lugia relaxed, steadying
herself and gripping the plate firmly as the glow from her eyes
dimmed.
"Absolutely mushrooms," the Lugia muttered, closing her eyes in a
grimace. "Storm's coming, gotta run," she said after a moment,
pointing towards the direction of the sinkhole and immediately
running the other way, clutching the plate as if her life depended
on it. Her head hurt, and her vision fogged at the edges. She
wasn't quite sure what she was even saying, but it sounded fine in
the moment.
"I'm a mushroom! There's a storm chasing us! And I have a flying
hat!" Tidal called back frantically to Mystin, her eyes wide. To
her, her words were nothing out of the ordinary, though she did
feel quite light-headed.
