Benjamin stepped forward quickly, swiping one paw up from below,
the other coming from the bat's left side. He watched as she nearly
dove towards the upcoming strike, then flapped sideways to avoid
it, the second strike approaching from the side. Watching as she
spotted it, he readied himself. If all went as it did in his
mind... Yes! The bat dove towards him, avoiding the second strike
narrowly. Lastly, his tail flicked upwards quickly, intercepting
the bat in her flight path. Munch's reflexes and processing speed
were what had gotten him this far, and he was glad for that.
Maurice transformed back, glaring at Benjamin with red eyes. "Oh,
you vill pay vor that." She didn't care if she was supposed to be
blocking. She hated dogs. She ran straight at him, using his
shoulder as a stepping stone to launch herself behind him, shoving
him forward.
Benjamin stumbled, pushing himself off the ground and stepping back
up, whirling around to face the vampiric girl. "Y'know, you got
that wrong the first time. Technically-" He rushed forwards, his
paws disappearing, and the large ears erupting from the crown of
his skull. "I'd be a rodent!" His ears instantly recognized where
the girl was, no matter how many times she jumped around him, his
ears picked her out of the crowd.
Maurice grinned. "But bats like me eat mice." She transformed
again, acting as if she was going to go up, then dropped to the
ground, narrowly dodging his foot and speeding away from him. Then,
she made a u-turn at the last moment, headed right for him.
"Mouse?" His foot descended, nearly pinning the bat down. "Who said
anything about mice?" His ears pivoted backwards, and his tail
swished to combat the living missile that now headed for the small
of his back. Deciding against it, he hit the ground and made his
tail shoot up in front of her, hoping to make another impact. "I
was thinking maybe a raccoon, or something with bigger ears."
Maurice smacked into the tail but transformed as she fell, jumping
up with her foot headed right for Benjamin's face. "No, I vink rat
suits you better."
Benjamin's tail wrapped around the girl's waist, his hands coming
up to hold her foot a few inches from his face. Through gritted
teeth, he stuttered out, "Y-you know, for using extremely high
pitched sounds to 'see', I can hear you a lot." His hands turned
into paws, and his ears disappeared. Slowly, he adjusted his grip
until he could start digging his claws into her foot. Or, he would
have, had her foot not started to glow neon green. He blinked a bit
as the glow intensified in the areas where his claws met the
surface, the green starting to cast light out from the several
contact points it made.
Maurice spat in his face and wrenched free. "Shut up, vat." Mr.
Sakushi then said, "and with that, the demonstration is over. You
two can take a break. The rest of you, practice what you just saw."
Benjamin wiped his eyes, then pushed himself up off the ground in
an acrobatic form, before turning his paws back to hands and
walking past Maurice, his tail fluffing up like it had been shocked
as he walked past her. More than a few long grey hairs hung in the
air for a moment, before being stuck to the girl's clothing by
Benjamin's tail, which rubbed against her. "There's more of those
than you think. They won't be out of your clothes or fur for a good
week or so. They'll turn up now and then out of nowhere. Oh, and.."
He tapped his tail against her again. He'd stopped walking, and the
tail fluffed out again, shedding a few more strands of fur in her.
"Rat's don't have this much fur on their tails. Especially not this
much fur that-" He rubbed his tail against her again. "Sticks to
everything." With something like a giggle, he trotted to the
climbing rope and grappled up it in a matter of seconds, then
flipped himself around to hand from the ceiling. Again, the massive
ears shot from his head, and he watched the next few sparring
matches with curiosity.
Maurice scowled, and went to a dark corner. "Stupid vanimal." she
muttered. At the end of class, Maurice stalked out, throwing a
glare at Benjamin over her shoulder.
Boreas blinked slightly. He didn't know Benjamin had such innate
skill with his power. "That's pretty impressive for little ol' Mr.
Lycanthrope. Right, partner?" He turned to look at Zephyr.
"Hah?" Boreas frowned at his partner. "You didn't do a single
thing! Just watched Fanger prance around, trying to hit
Lycanthrope. What, you had fun watching them fight? That shouldn't
be fun, that should be gauging your opponent's potential and
power!"
Max walked up behind Boreas with Kyleen. "Excuse me, I thought I
was a maniac, not a sparrow. I mean unless you're now calling me a
maniac sparrow." Kyleen shook her head. "Just stop, Max."
Boreas groaned. "Not the time, Pizza Maniac. This...this...this
Galvanism Weirdo thinks this school is fun and games! No, haha, no!
It's not anywhere safer than the outsiDE WORLD!" With his
last words, a huge spike of ice shot out of the ground, nearly
impaling Zephyr, stopping inches before his face and grazing the
lofty ceiling.
Zephyr was surprised. "Hey! What was that for! I was just saying
that this place is.." suddenly, Zephyr's face slacked and his hand
dropped. "I have to go," he said, almost monotonley. Then, he
walked out of the classroom.
Boreas gasped under his breath, the darted forward, flicking his
fingers so chains of ice wrapped around Zephyr tightly, binding his
arms and legs together. "Where's Fauna?" He shouted.
