But only on certain chains, maybe: 50, 100, 150...

Oh, wow! Your chain sure has lasted a long time! Would you like to pause it for 50k pd? (Note you cannot start a new chain while the current one is paused.)
The Poke Radar would say that if A) Your chain is 115+ and B) You haven't hatched a single shiny. (If it is your first shiny hunt, or you are looking for your first shiny because your first hunt never got one, then you shouldn't be able to.)
In other words, I totally support.

shiny hunting isn't meant to be easy.
It is already quite simple on this website so I don't see how this could be useful.
want a break? level up some pokemon and just don't hatch eggs.

Shiny hunting isn't easy, and pausing a chain? Seriously?
I mean, if you REALLY want to get away from your hunt, buy premium and get a early shiny! I mean, I have not had problems with my first hunt. A shiny at chain #87. If I can do that, then you don't have to pause your chain.
And, anyway, you guys don't understand. Just buy the egg storage box if you want to adopt an egg!

I don't like comparing us with other websites, but in this case I'd say that we've already got a very fair and easy shiny system.
You can take a break after a hunt is finished - or you can break the hunt completely if you want to hatch other Pokémon instead.
