Siegfried was so focused on training that he couldn't even hear Nell and Mirage. The Type Y sent a mental message to Siegfried and Mirage:

"Nell can't stick around for the Duel. The Type C can always brainwash her and use her as a weapon."

Mirage goes all the way back to where the Type Y is. He then writes "The Type C could also always brainwash me. I'd lose either way." The Mewtwo shows the paper to the Type Y.

(Actually, if you read H.P. Lovecraft's books you can tell what C stands for. It stands for Corruptor, but also for Cthulhu.)
