The girl looked at Flay, she figited a bit still clinging to the
plush. "Blue. I'm Blue." Her voice was quiet and soft, as if she
hadn't used it for a while.
“Blue huh? My name’s Flavrey, but call me Flay.” She smiled and
held her hand out. She took her other hand off of Blue’s shoulders
and put them in her pocket.
She stood up and looked at Blue with a smile. “Want to see a magic
trick? They are useful for passing the time.” She got a ball of
paper from her pocket and held it out on her free hand.
“Alright, watch the paper carefully.” She closed her hand around
the ball, but not tightly so Blue could still see it. She shook her
hand a bit, said “the magic words” and opened her hand. She willed
the paper ball to float, making gestures with her hand to add to
the effect
Blue repeated the "magic words" and to her delight the paper wad
flew above her hand she giggled in delight not aware that it was
because of Flay.
It was 5:58, at least that's what the sign on the gaint tv screen
on either side of the stage read. Only two minutes until Dr. Money
made his announcemet, what ever it was. Flay could see that some
people were nervous, some excited, others ornery, most just seemed
emotionless as if awaiting a death sentance. Most of the people
were whispering to eachother quitely in hushed voices.
Flay also noticed that ocsonaly a short slide show would pop on
screen to entertain the audeince. The slideshow mostly showed a man
in his mid fourties and graying hair dressed in a crisp white suit
with matching pants and small hat on screen. Some shots of this
man, Dr. Money she presumed, had him with a golden handled cane and
always holding the brim of his hat. What unnereved Flay most was
how Dr. Money's eyes were always hidden by the brim of his hat.
“Good job!” She laughed. As she was looking at the slideshow thing,
she growled. It wasn’t loud enough for Blue to hear it well, but
she stopped when someone bumped into her. She didn’t regard the
person, but instead looked back at Blue. “It’s almost time for the
presentation, come on.” She smiled and gestured for Blue to follow.
She kept thinking of Dr. Money, but didn’t let it show in her
expression.
Blue have the paper wad back to Flay then followed close behind,
gripping her plushie in one hand and Flay's hand with the other. By
now all of the towns people had gathered, Flay even saw Dabria and
Angel standing not to far from herself. Dabria was staring daggers
at the images of Dr. Money and Angel kept trying to calm her.
“How old are you, Blue?” She grabbed the wad and put it back in her
pocket. She noticed Blue looking at two people, one of them she
thought she recognized.
Flay looked at them. She was curious at what they were doing until
she looked at the time. Its about time... “Guess I should
tell you how old I am as well. I’m 14.”
Suddenly the crowd burst into cheers and whistles as Dr. Money
himself finally made his apearnce, still donning the same crisp
atire as in the slide show. He stood there as he soaked in the
cheers and aplause for the longest moment and after awhile put a
hand up to slicen the crowd, and it worked, they fell into slience.
Once the aduience had quieted down he began his speech in his
winning fashion.
Flay noticed that some people seemed hopeful, as if he was some
sort of becon of hope durring this dark and dismal time of need.
Flay started to have mixed opinions about Dr. Money. He was a
beacon of hope for these people, someone who they could depend on.
She still hated him for some reason, but she pushed away those
opinions for this moment.
It was odd though, he kept mentioning how "each of you is worth
millions, perhaps even more" or similar content every so often, not
enough to make anyone supsisous, but enough to be noted. The
messages honestly felt mixed, most good but some bad as well.
Suddenly a wanted poster made its way to the screens, on it was a
woman who looked no older than seventeen, close cropped blounde
hair and firey amber eyes was shown. The poster claimed she was
wanted for alleged treason against Millberry. Dr. Money kept
stating that the woman, Faith he called her, had alegedly "spit on
his generious offer at survival, damaged property and left." There
was something he wasn't mentioning though, and it did tug at Flay.
